  1. Maybe it was his coaching that facilitated them getting into double figures? Someone on here said he's the most negative manager we've ever had. That's some track record of goalscorers for a negative manager...
  2. Yeah, the man with 5 promotions under his belt isn't tactically flexible This place
  3. We've not exactly got an aging squad have we. Who's over the age of 30? Norwood, Garner, Hogan, Gardner who barely plays. Think that's it. Nowt wrong with adding a bit of experience from someone who's been there and done it
  4. Think this'll be a good signing, plenty of experience and aggression which we lack at times. Should hopefully be an improvement on Fondop
  5. Barnet have signed Luke Freeman. Some signing for this level that Points to Kanu probably moving on...
  6. And it's taken them 6 years to get to that point. In those 6 years they've been turned over by these teams dozens of times
  7. I think some people really need to move on from the Royle years, they were 35 years ago. We played pretty, progressive football under Wellens and got relegated. We played some lovely football under Kewell and finished 17th. I'm 33 and have seen us finish top 6 twice. Twice! I just want to see us achieve something, and I think Mellon is putting us in a good position to do that.
  8. Totally agree. I was frustrated as anyone yesterday, I can't understand this blind spot they have against teams lower down the table. But I'm also not reactionary and can see the improvements that have been made in the 3 months MM has been here. I really can't understand some of the OTT reactions I've seen, it beggars belief.
  9. I can understand frustrations after yesterday, but by any metric this is our most successful season so far in about 16 years. With the hyperbole on here after any defeat you'd think we were on the brink of relegation
  10. Performances are inconsistent, that's for certain. Results wise though we're one of the most consistent teams in the league at the moment. I fully expect us to bounce back next Saturday
  11. Are we unbelievably inconsistent? Won 4 out of 5 in the league. 3rd in the form table since Mellon came in. I'd say that's pretty consistent?
  12. I don't think the human brain has the capacity to store the names of all the players we've had the past decade or so
  13. Young striker we had on loan from Wigan. Got injured after four games
  14. Scored 3 or more 5 times in 17 games under him, so just over every 3 games. Not bad for our most defensive minded manager ever
  15. Same. There'll be people supporting is in their 20s who've never even seen us finish top half. Yeah the football isn't always great, but it's just nice to be up there with a very good chance of making the playoffs. I'd expect this entitled view that we *must* play a certain brand of football from clubs used to success. Not from a club that's done *nothing* for 35 years
  16. I've been going for 27 years and have seen us finish top 6 twice. Frankly I don't care how we get there. This snobby insistence that we play football a certain way will keep us medicore forever
  17. 30 odd years without a promotion. We recently went 15 years without a top half finish. We've got a manager in giving us a great chance of at least a playoff place and people still aren't happy because we aren't playing like we did four decades ago. We don't deserve promotion do we
  18. It's really really hard to be constructive when what you're posting is just objectively nonsense. Can't wait to log on here when we comfortably beat Ebbsfleet and see tumbleweeds
  19. No he hasn't. Honestly, this place after a defeat is incredible. I know it wasn't great but Jesus
  20. You're asking for a team that had previously won 4 league games on the trot to be completely changed due to one defeat, into a system that has ONE midfielder. It's absolutely bonkers. Thank god managers aren't this reactive
  21. Honestly still think there's a chance we might get relegated this season. Is it time to start panicking?
  22. Not sure I get the criticism of Mellon's selection/formation considering it had won us 4 league games on the bounce, including two home games. I don't think his in game management was great, but why would he tinker with a winning formula?
