  1. Ours are already booked J, 2 weeks in the States. Couldn't do anything about the dates as they had to coincide with work commitments. Should be back just in time for the final though!
  2. Not sure many a re totally 'writing them off' as such, I think a lot though are realistically thinking that they are getting further and further away, and we need to improve our results (or rather turn our home draws into wins) pretty bloody sharpish.
  3. That is bang on the money Lags. For me, there is always a game after which I think "that's it, the play offs are gone". Usually happens somewhere from mid to end of March. However, against Brighton last week, when the equaliser went in, I could help but think something very similar. It was more along the lines of us needing to turn our home form around, but for me that needs to happen in our next home league game. Forget Saturday, the cup is a one off (though the confidence of any win at home would be very welcome just now). I just thought Brighton was a massive opportunity missed. I really believed that we'd get back on track at BP in that game, much the same as the Blackpool game at home last season which we ended up losing one nil.
  4. I love how people who don't even seem to sit in the Chaddy (and I'm only pressuming you are one of those by the way you've worded your post, Eddie) are the ones championing the Chaddy to be moved to the RRE. I bet half of these buggers sit in silence in the Main Stand wanting everybody else to provise the atmosphere! Rick is right. Open the small section of the RRE to home fans who wish to go in their and make as much noise as they like. I have no problem with that. However, I wont be joining them.
  5. And that, in a nutshell, is what's wrong with football these days. He was only EVER interested in lining his pockets. Got a big fat signing-on fee, which McGhee more or less admitted during an interview. The way I understand it, the club turned down the Plymouth ofer in Jan on the strength of Porter and his agent saying that he would sing a new contract in the summer. Then he changed his wage demands so TTA were resigned to losing him. I think it's a pisstake that the fee for him joining us from Bury was set at £150k, yet he was allowed to walk away for free at the end of his contract without a 2nd thought for us. Incidentally, how many of us on here (and I know there were a good few) fully anticipated his move to Scotland would be followed by another move in the window or in trhe summer. What a snake.
  6. Yeah, absolutely the same guy. Not that I understand what that has to do with anything. I mean, what would you expect him to say when asked? "Nah, he's a murdering ginger scumbag who none of the lads like, and he's nabbed my thunder to boot"? Get real. The pair of them are NOT playing like a partnership. I can understand him wanting to score to end his barren period, course I can, but he needs to swallow his pride, stop going for the 'Hollywood' finish and play for the good of the team.
  7. Absolutely agree 100%. Until Davies removes the chip off his shoulder and actually passes the ball to Hughes (when he's unmarked and screaming for the ball), he's not gonna get anywhere. His nose has been well out of joint ever since Hughes started bagging, cos he's not the one receiving the plaudits. I think the lad has ability in abundance and COULD be a very very useful/important player for us - the harsh reality is however, that if he was more of a team player we'd not be having these discussions about him. At the Boundary Blues party the kids get a Q&A session with the players and one youngester (probably no older than about 10) actually asked Davies 'whether he was ever going to pass the ball to Hughes'. Says it all really.
  8. That's the point I was trying to make earlier Tony. We need another striker, an other winger and another midfielder. If we were to let Eardley go for £750k or whatever you can add a new RB to that list. OK, Hazell will do a solid job at RB but with Gregan long term crocked and Stam not having the best of injury records, it leaves us short of cover to partner Trotters. I doubt all of the £750k is gonna be made available for signings, and even if it was, it wouldn't go all that far if we need to buy/replace 4 players. I'm not sure how we move forward on that basis. If we HAVE to sell Eardley, then lets make sure we get what he's worth compared to the rest of the current market.
  9. Not much we can do about it if the club are contracted to having a new away shirt per season and a new home shirt every 2 seasons. In fact, taking it to the extremes, the club has to generate as much income as possible to have a hope of keeping up with the big boys - who's fault is that? The other way of looking at it Daz, is if you don't agree/like it/whatever, then don't buy one.
  10. I don't think anybody is saying that players should strive to get to a higher level, be it with this club or any other Andy, the point for me is that as a club, we should be doing everything we can to try to retain our best players (it's the ONLY realistic way we'll get up), and when we do have to sell we should be holding out for a good price.
  11. Might help if we'd even looked like winning a home game since the end of September.
  12. That's a VERY good point Pete. Our home kit should revert to being like the 1907-66 ish blue and white 'thirds' type of affair (making sure it's not an absolute abortion like the recent effort with the white back was) and stick with it! The 2nd and 3rd kits should have a tangerine theme - build the brand and it's recognisibility?! Stick with tangerine & blue for 3rd kit if we have to have another one, and have a 2nd kit which is, say, white with tangerine trim (or tangerine and blue trim) like the one proposed last season.
  13. Not being funny, but in the current climate (1.5m for Gunter etc) and with Eardley being on a longish term deal, I don't see why we should be selling ourselves short by letting him go for around half that amount. Added to that that we'll have already made a few quid of the shortfall up already this season with the win at Everton and associated gate receipt, I don't think we should have our hand forced. TTA have already said there is money available to Shez, lets try and add to the squad, not lose players.
  14. That is certainly one thing we have in our favour BBP.
  15. Their mettle was tested at a similar stage last year when they turned down Plymouth's bid for striker Chris Porter. So who could blame them this year if they get a nice fat offer for one of our talented youngsters? Thanks for that, Chris.
  16. If anybody thinks that a reduction to £15 will significantly increase numbers at BP, then you are either sadly deluded or you are sniffing glue. The public of Oldham have already shown on numerous occasions that unless it's free/virtually free, they'd rather swan round The Spindles in their MANURE/CIDDEE or whatever tops than come and support their local club!
  17. Spot on Andy. The light blue (POWDER BLUE FFS?) is easilty the nicest shirt but it just screams CIDDEE, and frankly I'd rather be thrown into a pound of rabid rottweilers with pedigree chum smeared on my nads than be mistaken for one of them tossbags! If we HAVE to change then the black isn't too bad, and the Barca effort will at least please Johnny Punkster. The yellow is horrible too! EDIT: I also think we need to be careful with these things as I already know one cidddeeee fan who thinks it will be hilarious to put a link on their web forum to sabotage the vote. TOSSEUR.
  18. I've gone for Hazell but it was a very tough chocie between him and JP. Isn't it great though that between us we can't pick a standout MOM from the whole squad as the collective performance was outstanding.
  19. Haining - had been a decent servant to the club, but had become stale. The club offered him terms but reduced from what I understand. They hardly bust a gut to keep him did they? Murray - saw out his contract and was always likely to take that move abroad to the top league in a foreign country. Plenty gave him stick for the fact that he only really upped his game when he was putting himself in the shop window though. Alex Bruce - was recalled by Daddy and was promptly sent out on loan to Sheff Wed. Not really his choice was it, and even then I remember plenty of people were none too happy with Bruce Snr at the time. Just seen and replied to the Berty thread, as you'll no doubt have seen.
  20. Jamie, how the is what Berty's done the same thing as Kilkenny? Bertrand is still a Chelsea player and one who they are trying to develop by sending him on loan to a club in a higher division than us. At the end of his loan with Norwich it's highly likely he'll go bck to Chelsea to continue his education and maybe try and break into the first team. Kilkenny is not wanted at Brum and has gone to Leeds on loan until a perm deal can be sorted. Talk about twisting facts to suit you argument?!
