  1. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2024/april/09042024-hogan-community-award/ Congratulations to Liam Hogan - well deserved from what I read. interesting snippet from the article: “Liam has been a real leader when it comes to our community projects, he’s made our lives so much easier by being so accommodating and up for helping out.“ Let’s see more of that leadership on the pitch please
  2. to your final sentence, and accepting that it is pure speculation...nope we don't.
  3. 30 Oct 1999 Oldham Athletic v Chelmsford City W 4-0
  4. SIX years ago - the league has changed hugely in that time. He really has shown that he knows the National League hasn’t he?
  5. The one thing we did not try (and should have) is to appoint a manager who knows the National League.
  6. Great podcast as always note for Andy Hallwell: Nadir meaning: the lowest or most unsuccessful point in a situation.
  7. Strange that you say “rightly so” about MM being in charge next season, then proceed to list so many of his shortcomings as a manager…
  8. The only one of that lot I’ve not seen play is Pearce but the stats are good…
  9. I will recommend the following players: Cardwell & Bridge - SOUTHEND Haughton, Hosannah & Ustabasi - FYLDE Conn-Clarke & Linney - ALTRINCHAM Brown (on loan from Derby) - GATESHEAD Keohane - ROCHDALE Maycock - SOLIHULL Pearce - WORTHING Plus Parkinson - ALTRINCHAM as manager should Mellon decide to leave…
  10. Brabin should know all about this lad given his role at TNS
  11. I reckon that many fans who have watched football for 50 years or so do know more about the game than the players they are watching. *from a beer drinking, burger eating numpty who has kicked a ball a few times over the years
  12. I have seen absolutely nothing from Walker to suggest he can even play at our level!
  13. and prior to that we have to suffer England underperforming at the Euros because Southgate sets us up defensively… sorry… wrong thread …
  14. True - I missed the question mark - it should have read “playoff form?”… As I’ve written on several occasions recently, I am not convinced that Mellon is the manager to take us back to the EFL
  15. This. Brentford and Brighton use the statistical analysis properly. Others don’t.
  16. Rochdale Away was Mellon’s first game in charge. We sat in 12th place in the table following a six match unbeaten run (seven if you count Altrincham in the cup) by caretaker management since Unsworth was sacked. Rochdale at Home will be Mellon’s 28th league game at the helm. We now sit in 9th place in the table despite a mediocre March and start to April. Our overall league record under MM is: P27 W11 D8 L8 Points 41 - playoff form? His win percentage is 40.74% The chance of finishing in the top seven is highly unlikely but it would be nice to win on Saturday - let’s hope the players and manager believe. Our recent slump in form has been hugely disappointing and has led to many (myself included) questioning the players and the manager’s ability to lead us out of this division. A win in Saturday please.
  17. And by doing so, he’s not doing himself any favours and more importantly he is disrupting the team
  18. If we had not given Mellon such a long contract, I’m not sure he would be safe. And if the rumours are true, he may well walk at the end of the season…
  19. The manager has shown over the last ten games that he simply doesn’t have what’s needed to get the team to play - sure the players are to blame but I genuinely believe that Mellon is more to blame for the way we are ending the season
  20. Once again we are playing with no conviction or belief going forward - slow and ponderous, lacking any creativity - it’s as if we are afraid to play
  21. I hear that the team have decided to play with total energy and commitment for the whole game, passing the ball on the ground and defending as if their lives depended on it - total football… Nah…April Fool
