If vocal support were measured by ego, we'd surely have the best support in the land. I wonder how many of the fans who demand so much more info from the club do so of their employers, their banks, their supermarkets......their kids even. Now access is free to all it seems to lead to every moron and his dog believing they have a right to demand answers to every action taken. Oldham Athletic is a business and as such, we are extremely lucky to have a voice on the board of directors. That voice is in a no-win situation and too many keyboard warriors try to take advantage of that compromise. We're a third division club with low crowds in a broken town. Without Simon Corney, we likely wouldn't have a Barry Owen on the board, without Barry Owen, we likely wouldn't get the fans forums, we wouldn't have the links to the club from this message board and we would all know far less than we do now. What do people really want? Corney and Owen stick it out no matter what :censored:e comes back at them because they realise that there are reasonable, understanding people out there who appreciate the feedback they give. Stockport County......there but for the grace of God go we!

Southport away, Easter (think it was1974?). First time I remember thinking WOW! at the size of a Latics away following. We'd taken big numbers away all season but 7/8 of the crowd were from Oldham that day. Formby away (FAC) around similar time and the charge across the pitch at half time. Julian Dicks hitting the crossbar in the semi, 2nd leg. We were 3-0 down with 25 minutes left with a 6-0 first leg lead and I reckon we'd have capitulated if Dicks's effort had gone in Four days in London for the LC Final 1990 Final whistle at Ipswich 1991

On the basis that you come from the comparatively normal end of Stanley Park, and the fact that we recently had the dubious pleasure of hosting your web fingered cousins, we thought it prudent to engage with you ahead of your forthcoming cup final at the ever so slightly less :censored:ty end of the East Lancs Road. On arrival, you are likely to find numerous welcoming pubs whose landlords will be delighted if you were to return the glasses your inbred neighbours relocated to Merseyside on their recent scouting trip. In return, you may take back the huge bottom lip we found in the Rochdale Road End........although we understand that carrying two back may prove more difficult than first imagined. You may wish to consult with supporters of Leeds United who have decades of relevant experience. In the vacinity of the stadium, we also have a plethora of takeaways of every ethnicity and we considered that as a gesture of reciprocation for our last visit to Goodison Park, we might set set fire to one just before kick off. Unfortunately, such is the proximity of Featherstall Road to the ground.......there is concern that setting fire to a kebab shop might spread to such an extent the International Space Station could melt and fall to earth. NASA have advised there is no guarantee it would fall on Merseyside so unfortunately the fire brigade have intervened. You ought though, should you venture into the Featherstall Road area, be alert to flaming missiles in any case.......just as you would back home. Think of it as Toxteth light. As good as the atmosphere was on Sunday (and it came across great on TV)....just how rockin' would the Lookers have been if still up. For those of you who never watched from there, for all its frailties......it was a place of fantastic atmosphere for the most part. I miss that part of Latics......looking back, something much bigger than the stand was lost the day they decided to pull it down.
