  1. If Neil Eardley and Marc Tierney can play in the Premier League, Jordan Rhodes has every right to expect to sign for Barcelona some day!
  2. Hi Dave, can you share let me know the info for the live tv link for the Liverpool game please?

    Thanks,

    Tony.

  3. Found it cheers! Unless i'm reading the schedule wrong it's not on until 11th Jan.....but will be worth the wait if the result is good enough!
  4. How do you get free to air Liverpool TV and Arsenal TV? I'm on Foxtel and can't see either in the programme listings. Is it only available on Austar? Incidentally, whereabouts in Melbourne are you Ex_pat? I'm in Camberwell.
  5. Just watched the youtube set Slurms....absolutely superb!
  6. If i remember rightly, way back in the 80's Latics launched an intitiative to bring youngsters through a soccer skills competition. The winner was guaranteed an apprenticeship with Latics. Mike Flynn was the winner and he went on to have a long and successful career in the 'middle leagues' with Latics, Preston and Stockport.
  7. Nonsense - Speaking as a CEO, i agree with Dave Ogden .....and please......Wikipilocrap for goodness sake!
  8. Interestingly, if we beat the Mongs on Saturday....they will have lost more league games than us this season, yet still comfortably make the play offs.
  9. I dread to think what getting in as a dark horse may have had in store for us this season had we managed it. Unless there is a significant change in personnel (i realise Dickov has his wish list)we will be set for another season of similar ups and downs. The existing squad has a few imbalances (in particularl a lack of experience and a lack of a proven goal scorer)which unless addressed, will result in more of the same.
  10. And you wonder why nobody gets down to BP when this is the crowd to mingle with...........
  11. I spent a lot of time in Dundee in the 90's and used to go regularly to Dens Park. I always thought they had a lot in common with Latics despite only competing in Dundee with United. Despite there being two teams in Dundee there as still as many Celtic and Rangers fans who make the trip to Glasgow each week and the pubs are full of armchair Rangers and Celtic fans. Never managed to understand why they built two stadia on the same street though.
  12. That's what's wrong with football fans....everyone stereotypes! Some of us don't live on the beach.........some of us have to go to work not even passing a beach....in fact, the sun doesn't even bloody shine every day. God, i wish some people would get a grip......it's hard enough adapting to a foreign lifestyle without people taking a pop as though we've got it easy over here!
  13. Derek, you've posted some good stuff on here over the years....and the odd bit of nonsense here and there......usually designed to get a rise out of someone or other....and that someone or other usually took the bait to the entertainment value of the rest of us. This post though, is heartfelt and will resonate with many. I understand your feelings, i've often felt similar feelings through the ups and downs of watching Latics. I'm not about to tell you that you should change your mind or to offer any 'brotherly advice'.......suffice to say, you're a mate....i wish you well in whatever you do in your spare time instead of watching Latics....and i miss meeting you on match days through the times when you were as passionate as you were. Those days are gone but the memories will live on. Remember the good times Derek....they were far more important to your life than the not so good. In time, you never know what may happen.....just don't ever close the door. Living on the other side of the world affords me the privilege of getting my message to you before all the nonsense starts in reply....i probably wouldn't have had the stomach to read through all that before i made my point to you.....so for my location, i'm thankful. Good luck, i hope you really enjoy the game later today.....i wish i was there! Tony.
  14. 90th minute......"Neither team can gain control of the match"
  15. Yep, all Melbourne teams play at MCG or Docklands (Etihad stadium as it is now), but it's not like playing at COMS because no club owns either of those stadia. Also, many of the AFL premier teams have their own stadia where they train and house admin/medical staff and where their junior sides play. Collingwood won this year for the fist time in 20 years. Carlton and Essendon both have more titles.
  16. Melbourne IS way bigger than Oldham. The point i'm making is that the proximity to Manchester isn't the reason we don't draw in the crowds. If Melbourne can sustain 9 teams in the top flight of AFL, there's plenty of room for other well supported teams in proximity to Utd and City.
  17. You raise in interesting point in relation to where people generally say they are from 'when travelling'. I have mates from Oldham who say they are from Manchester whenever they are 'away' from home. Personally, it makes me puke. However, I live in Camberwell (a district of Melbourne), but when anybody in the UK asks me where i live, i say Melbourne.....maybe beccause few people outside Australia would know where Camberwell is.......in many ways like few people outside England know where Oldham is. Anyhow, to the point.....take a look at a map of Melbourne and look at the proximity of Melbourne, North Melbourne, Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond and Hawthorn. It's about half the size of Oldham and houses six AFL teams. Throw in St Kilda, Essendon, Footscray (Western Bulldogs) and Geelong....that's competition for support. Lowest average attendance amongst that lot for 2010? North Melbourne with......over 27,000. If the product is good enough, people will turn out.
  18. It's the Aussie obsession with shortening everything and anything. As i drive into work in the mornings, the traffic reports always refer to accidents where there's an 'Ambo' (Ambulance) on it's way....documentaries on TV are referred to as Doco's by presenters.....even McDonalds advertise on TV as Macca's. The Aussie rules season is populated with even more of it. TV and Radio will reel off "tonight it's the Doggies (Western Bulldogs) against the Pies (Collingwood.....nickname the magpies, shortened to pies) at the G" A whole new language over here!
  19. Don't know where you found that report Prozac.....but it's defintely almost word for word correct. The pub was a bit further away than you might imagine though. I was part of the reconnaisance party that discovered it! If anyone has the pics, i'd be delighted to see them. They were published in a home programme shortly after said event.
  20. Thanks a) for clearing up the issues pertaining to the site and for saving me the time to type similar content Finally, anyone who uses AVG free....please tell me what you think the paid for version does?
  21. You post way too many sensible comments to be a true Town fan
  22. On the basis that they're made for the over 12's.....right?
  23. Squashed up against the front wall at the Pearl St end. Packed stands, remember the walk back to Rochdale Station.....a huge procession of Latics fans that seemed to go on forever.
