  1. Chesterfield ticket news issues: I had to go to the Chesterfield website for these prices (OAFC finally put summat on yesterday, if they had before I couldn't access it). Their site works fine. Now we're reporting at 7:45pm KO. It is 7pm, isn't it?
  2. I remember talking to you and your mate down at Luton when we lost 3-0 a few year back. We were wandering around the town (I don't know why). There was me and my brother. I always recognise you. I saw you again yesterday actually. It may escape your owd memory!
  3. Can't agree more. There are some that are just tedious these days. I mean, I didn't grow up in the 70s/80s/90s but I do think we have two or three decent, original ones. Did you happen to watch Liverpool v Arsenal? On form Liverpool are excellent, but Arsenal sound like a poor, generic Football League side. It's odd but the variety in their chanting isn't much. Generic tunes etc. They sang loud and proud, but mainly to 'Sloop John B'. i heard "Arsene Wenger, he throws what he wants" and "Lukas Podolski, he scores when he wants". It's lazy and thoughtless tbh. Yesterday, tbf, was excellent bar that shocker. "We sat on a swan". Seriously - what does it even mean in relation to supporting the team?. It's not even funny. However, they're young lads and will grow out of it. I know I did, but that daft tune wasn't around then.
  4. "Hi Phil. Right - if we lose today you get the job, yeah?" "Ok..." "Phil, we won. Sorry mate. Maybe next time, yeah?"
  5. I'd guessed at 300-400 and after seeing us I'd say it was nearer 400. Can we get that many on Tuesday? I hope so. £10 for adults, always a nice trip, and we haven't a game for nearly two weeks after.
  6. I thought first 20 minutes M'Voto and Bynre were struggling to quite find the balance. McLeod was in between them and they our lads didn't quite know who was dealing with him. However, after that they were faultless. M'Voto is this season's true shining star - very impressive is every match. But as we say the back four need protection from the midfield and they got that yesterday.
  7. Also - thoughts on Montano's petulant and downright disrespectful kicking of the ball into the crowd. I really wasn't impressed with that. He deserved flooring for it. When Ferdinand did it he thankfully apologised. If I was Dickov I'd tear him limb from limb. I know he was clearing it but he was not thinking when he did that. Very disappointing. He was excellent bar that.
  8. Big result. Could hopefully help us pick a couple of wins up. We were far from perfect. Yet again lapses in concentration and silly decision making leave us either in trouble, under pressure of ineffective in the final third. However, we tried to pass. Croft and Montano impressed. But as a team I thought we were terrific. We finally showed some grit. Cisak and M'Voto were outstanding. M'Voto has started the new season just as powerful but tight and tidy with the ball. Pleased for him. He'll have admirers should his form continue. Chuffed to pieces. BUT we can do better. Which is promising IF we can bloody find it! Happy for everyone. A lot of reilef poured out at FT. Thought our fans were superb too.
  9. Such was the case when we signed M'changama in March. It would have been pointless rushing, unless we wanted to have someone registered for tomorrow. What does worry me is that there hasn't been one murmur that we're looking. Certain people are acting as though the squad we have at present is good enough (Dickov, even Corney's burying his head in the sand in this respect) and it blatantly isn't. Furman away next week, too. This will highlight what a poor team we have. It annoys me he's even being allowed out. I know it's his first call-up. What is Dickov planning? We can't even compete with Wesolowski missing.
  10. Ah, looks certain that Dale Stephens won't be moving during this window. Crewe captain Ashley Westwood undergoing medical ahead of £2m move. Allows him to impress and attract further interest in January or next summer.
  11. Quite possibly. There again, his injury record goes against him. He represents too high a risk for that reason.
  12. Andy Bishop to Wrexham on loan. Another career that stuttered, although due to injuries.
  13. Stephen Quinn to Hull City is a big one. Long spell with the Blades and deserves his chance. Anyone see Anthony McNamee to Macclesfield? A career wasted, I think. He's always fantastic ability but wasn't determined enough.
  14. Late push is on! EDIT: I'm getting sporadic ones and twos. Even the United contingent of my friends are helping out. Bless 'em* *Only a bit, though
  15. Deadline Day is a funny concept. The frenzy was created by the broadcasters and newspapers and we bloody fall for it! As people are saying, it doesn't affect us in any way (well, it may do but only via Dale Stephens). Were we likely to sign anyone for money? No. It's all about planning and it really highlights how so many clubs don't. Look at QPR. What on earth are they playing at? Tony Fernandes is aiming for the stars. Just 6,000 turned up against Walsall midweek. He'll end up on his arse - or the club will.
  16. I've never supported international friendlies during the league campaign. There's too much international football. It isn't the League Cup that leads to a congested fixture list. It's these daft games.
  17. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/league-cup/9507372/League-Cup-is-a-moribund-beast-which-should-be-put-out-of-its-misery.html "it is high time our own league swallowed reality in sweeping this carcass of a competition into the long grass." That sentence effectively sums up the attitude of the Premier Legaue. If you're not in it, you're a nobody. Anyway - one of our greatest claims to fame and I'd be dismayed should the competition be destroyed, but there are fundamental issues with its current structure. It began its decline when England's better clubs started to undermine it by fielding reserves and youngsters. The comment about a bloated fixture list was interesting. Who has a bloated fixture list? Those above the glass ceiling. The simple fact is Stoke would rather focus purely on the league than Cup competitons simply for the money (understandable if you're the ones making the money, but Stoke fans aren't). Same applied to the Europa League, really. Thoughts? Would you happily see the competition end completely? Or would you like to see a complete re-structure, such as scrapping the JPT and including the Championship clubs down? Or maybe those in the bottom half of the EPL downwards?
  18. I think it'll all come to a head at home to Notts County.
  19. Yes now. He's progressed at a better club and he's confident. But as those names Leelover has pointed out - had we dug in further and his porgression stuttered we'd be looking like fools right now. Surely what may work out at over £500k is decent business. As a lower-table League One club we're not in the business of holding out for £1m offers.
  20. Those players hardly made it to the promised land. The Trotman fee was astonishing. With regards to Stephens, we sold him for £375k plus 10% of any future fee. Now, 20% obviously went to Bury. And according to that report a fee of £1.5m has been rejected. So if Villa do continue their interest we're looking at a figure of at least £150k. That's £525k, which is brilliant business. He was good, but not that good. Obviously, when a club does come looking at our players we WANT to sell as long as the price is going to benefit us.
  21. But you don't think he's siphoning money - or at least taking his cut beyond his annual salary? So this "blackhole" isn't a blackhole at all because money is going somewhere and it'll have a nifty backdoor somewhere. I'm curious now, prozac. I'll listen to anything as long as it makes some sense. Where's the money going?
