  1. Frustrating result. If we carried a goal-threat we would have put four or five in. Barring the lack of penetration, we were excellent. We were in full control for the majority of the game, our passing was stylish and we just used our heads - nothing overly complicated. We passed it nicely when we could and be belted it out when County got into the box. I didn't feel threatened at all. Shame really. Two points dropped. The signs are promising.
  2. Inspiral Carpets were talking about an Oldham gig only a few weeks ago. It was a nice exclusive for the Chron actually.
  3. Top news. I am not looking for a central defender blessed with technical brilliance. Steady, composed and experienced. A Godsend.
  4. I'm a "no". However, I always pay on the day. Have done ever since I went to university and haven't broke the habit yet. Still attended most of the home games last season.
  5. I'd go 6. The home results let us down. The sides from 16-24 got too many points at Boundary Park. Beat those lot and we would have been in the top six. Definite potential and quite positive.
  6. My main gripe was me having to watch for 60 seconds Simon Corney stare at his phone during the minute's applause, almost refusing to acknowledge it. Ignorant and disrespectful. A complete disgrace.
  7. I was thinking about this area the other day. After the Rotherham defeat I honestly thought our number was up. I thought this year would be the year we finally fall out of this league. What Johnson has done deserves tremendous merit. At that point of the season I no longer cared for anything too open, expansive or attack-minded. Defensively we were a shambles. A few weeks later, we're unbeaten in nine and hold a proud defensive record. The signings of Adam Lockwood and James Wilson have been masterstrokes (in hindsight, anyhow). It's been tight and, with the exception of Bradford, lacking a flurry of excitement in the final third. But then, it never was. We've struggled for goals all season. What we now have is a solid base. We've picked up key victories and earned commendable draws against Leyton Orient, Brentford and Sheffield United. I don't think we've seen a total sacrifice of the quality of football. I thought our passing and movement on Saturday against Carlisle was very good to watch (I appreciate Carlisle were woeful for the majority of the game) but it has been so in other games, too. So we have the base. We've got a successful defence. Should we retain that back four Johnson can look further up the field. He can tailor the system. I'm certain that the current style does not need to be played, as though we're in a shell. We can open up and Johnson will look at this, I'm sure of it. Peterborough, for all of their goals a few years ago, failed to go up automatically. If they'd learned how to defend they would have won the league at a canter. Of course, I am not comparing us to them, but the principle remains the same. We're now tight and we have dependable and talented defenders. We can keep playing attractive football and we can score more goals. It is a work in progress. Bearing in mine the pressure everyone was under after the Rotherham defeat, to develop the team has Johnson has done deserves credit and praise. He will have the summer to further change things.
  8. A legend is someone I would rush back into the stands to see. I would forego everything to get a glimpse and chant their names. I don't think I'd extend that to Sheridan, Duxbury etc. I massively appreciate them and would sing their names all day but would I rush out of the beer queue? I don't think so. I would for Royle, Ritchie, Palmer and I've rarely seen them in the flesh. I think I'd afford this for Tony Philliskirk (not for playing reasons). I'm sure we've all got certain players we all adore(d). I think I'd rush out of a queue see chant Les Pogliacomi's name should he ever return to England. Why? I haven't a clue.
  9. And I'm taking someone from Shotton Colliery (C. Durham). First time. Slowly getting towards that sell-out...
  10. No local/regional away fixtures falling on a Tuesday night. Original Programme content.
  11. It was a poor game in terms of clear-cut chances, but I thought we dictated and controlled the entire match and our passing and movement was excellent. Another good win, but we need more if we want to threaten next year. If we can find a striker with pace, a little bit more creativity through the middle and a consistent winger we could challenge (and we would have won 6-0 yesterday). Wesolowski was magnificent. Carlisle's high line had them knackered from the very first minute, which, again, would have been exploited even more with pace up front. They were woeful, I must say. Doomed. All in all, thoroughly deserved and a cracking, alcohol-filled day. Thumbs up to a few of the local Carlisle lads and lasses. Very helpful.
  12. I find most City supporters now call it the Etihad. I refer mostly to the clubs in the Football League. Such as Whaddon Road.
  13. I'm half and half. I'm heavily opposed to this sort of stuff. I dislike name changes that are tacky simply to appease the marketing side of the game. They'll have awful signs up all over the place and it'll look dire. Yes, it's Boundary Park to us and it will forever remain so but others around the country will forget that name ever existed. I can't recall some of the other unique stadium names. To me most have been lost. I'd rather know the names of stadiums and stands without having to search on the internet. You get used to seeing the names in the newspapers and hearing them on the broadcasted match reports. I propose a permanent banner to all fixtures with a subtle reminder that we play at Boundary Park and nowhere else. Anyway, the positive side. It's lucrative - or so it seems. This, of course, is excellent for us. As long as it stops there I'm 95% happy. It is bright and positive. Sorry to sprinkle some every-so-slightly depressed words on to this thread.
  14. As long as either Barnsley or Blackpool come down I'd be content mainly because League Two has taken a lovely shape. I'd rather take Blackpool because I like to see politically deprived towns like Barnsley do as well as possible in any aspect of life.
  15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWoxHMh5rzw I'm going plus at least four others. Train, too. I'd expect 1000 as a minimum.
  16. As the majority have already said, it was an unintended, if not naive, chant today. Very much a good-natured affair. Perhaps someone representing this forum should make a comment on that thread? Just to apologise for the naively, but stress there were no offence meant. Overall, some nice remarks from their supporters.
  17. Still can't get over how :censored:e that badge is. Haven't bought a shirt since in it changed to be truthful.
  18. I do apologise. I was referring to his silly rants about performances and should have mentioned his whingeing about the numbers at home games. Came across completely wrong did that.
  19. Our forced short-termism means only a memorable season will save us. We can't build because we sell as soon as we produce another young, talented player. It makes perfect sense from the financial perspective. Corney, whilst meaning well, is a bit of a pillock when it comes to using the Chron as a mouthpiece. His unforgivable attack on the supporters (now the "hard core") pushed me ever closer to the "sell" brigade.
  20. I haven't had a season ticket since before I went to university and never had the money to buy a season ticket (I generally pay on the door), but I'm looking forward to getting one next season, regardless of which division we are in. I can't see how the last few month can make much difference to some of the supporters going or not going. We have been woeful at home now for years and I've seen much worse over that period. If League Two finishes as it is now it'll be excellent for both home and away games. Relegation would honestly make me even more excited, as odd as it sounds. Particularly on the road.
  21. Perhaps you should come back reality? How can you justify slating a manager and be content with his sacking - presumably this is what you want - after barely a year in charge? He kept the club up last season, do not forget. Does that not merit an ounce of respect if not you loyally? I like to view the club as a whole, which includes the support-base. The support is superb as far as I'm concerned. There is a slight section, though, which depresses the mood. It has unrealistic expectations, it demands far too much too soon.
