Try that again so I get the jist of what youre saying.
haha sorry i havent been to bed so im not too accurate. i was trying to say that I dont think there is anything wrong with a player suggesting that some fans are too extreme with their views, for example, concerning too much criticism
-
If that is true said texter needs outing, carrying aloft to the boardroom, then carrying out the club with P45 to hand and dumped in the street. This is exactly the same attitude we've seen to often on the pitch by too many.
it really isnt imo, i cant understand how someone can question a player's attitude

Whether I personally renew or not is not going to have a big effect on things. I am certainly not going to guilt trip myself into buying a season ticket in order to stop potential bad times ahead. £300 plus is a lot of money to spend on something I dont particularly enjoy at the moment.
Many people may think this tho and this is where the problem is and you are helping to cause it

The laziest, disinterested pile of :censored: I have seen in a long time. I lost count of the amount of times he was a couple of yards from the ball but couldn't be bothered and just stood still with his finger up his jacksie! I heard something on the Hillsborough documentary last night, Kenny Dalglish was commenting on his players and said, "Yes, they were talented, but they had desire and worked their socks off." Therein lies our problem, lots of talent but most of 'em don't want to roll their sleeves up, that can be said of 90% of our squad. Like I have said many times this season, you can have all the talent in the world but if you can't be arsed in working hard you'll fall by the wayside. Too many of our fans think you can only have one (hard work or talent) when in reality to get anywhere they go hand in hand if you want to achieve anything.
i see this as an irrational post. you dont know if our players work hard, the main reason is because they do

Just to add to the doom and gloom! It looks like only 1 out of the 5 people i regularly go with will be renewing their season tickets next year, and I would have classed all 5 of us as die hard fans. It is the first time I wont have had a season ticket for 12 years. Going to watch the football at Boundary Park just doesnt have the lure it used to. Yes the footballs crap, but its not just that, the whole matchday experience is IMO dire and not a fun way to spend a saturday afternoon like it always used to be. The just seems to be a constant negative atmosphere hanging over the club and I cant quite pinpoint why, probably because it is a multitude of things! I have had a horrible feeling for a while that the club is slowly dying on its arse, unless by some miracle we get some serious investment, and it seems a few on here think the same by looking at some of the posts. Unless something drastically changes I predict some grim times ahead
if you dont renew your season ticket then the chance of this happening is greater
-
Yes, yes I was there.
The away end.
I remember Jermaine Johnson was class that day.
is that supposed to be funny?

Find out who died younger than you... here... I outlived Ned Kelly. Which is nice.
gosh why are you thinking about this, it is morbid

Here are my thoughts on season ticket prices for next season.
Lets think positive and look forward to the future, if we all thought why bother next season we wont have a club to support in a couple of seasons.
True there are more downs than ups but thats what make the ups all the better.
Based on other clubs season ticket offers.
Instead of 3,000 fans buying S.T at £350 each charge £175 on the basis of selling 6,000.
Under 16 and over 65's £100 a S.T
Pro's
You would not lose any money.
You would nearly fill the ground every week
Better atmosphere which helps the team
Double the merchandise and shirt selling potential
Double the program, pie and pint sales.
Create interest to entice younger Latics fans to bring there friends and family in years to come.
Cons
None
Sorry in advance to some fans for being a tad positive.
there appears to be no student prices

It is of my opinion that Royle isnt the right man to take us where we want to be and it seems as though some Latics fans are living in the past.
Its hard to criticise Joe too much but it seems as though we wont be going anywhere for a long while, combined with other factors such as a reduced budget and players that are already not good enough.
We need fresh ideas from someone who is young, hungry and ambitious, Keith Hill, Jim Gannon... as if we do apoint Joe it wont be long term- where does that leave us?- in the same position.
Im not going to say i wasnt pleased with Joes arrival i was chuffed at the beginning but i saw even after just the first game that it wont work. From the moment the tannoy kept rolling out the scenes from 89 i thought its going to be a massive let down and it has been- i would go as far as saying Shez would have got us a much better return. Players are still deflated i think and know for a fact that some players e.g. Taylor loved Shez- although it seemed morale had gone i think sacking him actually made it worse- and ill be the first to say i wanted Shez out.
So where do we go from here- we will appoint Joe and combined with other factors what will next season bring?
- reduced budget- poor players- how many from Ipswich remains a mystery but i say at least 3/4- Westlake, Supple..
- increased season ticket prices- people wont buy them, and why would they having whitnessed this seasons disaster
- player clearout- we basically start again- no established team bonding- look what happened when we signed Ricketts etc- that season it was evident that we couldnt just build a team of new players only
- players arnt good enough- it worries me that Royle rates people like Wolfenden- does anyone think hes better than anywhere but Macclesfield? players like Westlake are average at best yet well sign them, loans are no better than what we have yet we play them for example we have Fleming yet choose to play Supple when we have nothing to play for- why?
Overall next season will be no different from any other- mid table at best- lets save Joes reputation, which is legendary status and appoint someone else on a long term deal
i agree with all you say
-
this isnt a dream team, it's a dream position team, you take your best position from different sides
i dont understand

Why is everyone being soooo negative about it all?! We knew when JR took over that he wouldnt be able to change the whole team over night. JR has said he is looking at the youth. This is setting up for next season, i would much rather have a good year and win promotion next year and get rid of the deadwood now instead of pre season when everyone looks like a star! JR is looking for where he can play players and what he will need for next year. Dont be thinking he will be leaving he is a great manager and knows what he wants. Next season will be the year!!
Keep the faith!!
next season really wont be the year right now
-
...that he was overlooked today by 2 strikers one whom I'm staggered has been making a career at a higher level than league 1 for a number of years (Kabba) and another who will never be good enough (Wolfy). Not to mention the crap players who have been loaned in to get fit over the course of the season the lad isn't making the most of his talent me thinks.
i think the reason steven kabba hasnt played well for latics is cause of the lack of service he is given from centre midfield

it started from a conversation on how other teams Latics have had over the years are better in some areas of the pitch but have fallen short in the other.
So if you take a position/area on the pitch from different seasons how good a team you would make? Bearing in mind each player from the postition/area you choose should of played together.
For example:
The defence during 02/03 Season
GK: Pogliacomi
LB: Chris Armstrong
CB Clint Hill
CB: David Beharall
RB: Fitz Hall
The centre midfield from 01/02 Season
CM: Lee Duxbury
CM: Paul Murray
The attack from 04/05 season
LW: David Eyres
CF: Chris Killen
CF: Luke Beckett
RW: Kevin Betsy
some of you may disagree but IMO those players in their prime for us would make one hell of a team
gk: mark crossley
lb:simon charlton
cb:fitz hall
cb:sean gregan
rb:neal eardley
cm:john sheridan
cm:richie wellens
lw:chris taylor
cf:chris killen
cf:chris porter
rw:jermaine johnson

i think with all these players at their best this would be a great team for league 1 and would take a play off position at least

A good point gained considering the poor quality officials (AGAIN).
i agree that poor quality officials dont help tho we shouldnt complain too much about this and instead be good enough to eradicate their mistakes by playing well enough to do this
-
was it right to get rid of shez, cause lets be honest the results under joe since he came back well speak for themselves, bet shez is having a little chuckle to himself.
i dont think we should say that joe royle is not as good a manager as john sheridan cause i think he is better but i agree that it was a bad choice to sack john sheridan and i think it was a panic action from latics. this idea is further emphasised in that joe royle is only our manager to the end of this season and if latics really wanted change they would have appointed a manager in the longer term. when we played tranmere rovers i was convinced that if john sheridan was our manager for that match, we would have played better at least. also i think if he was our manager still, we would be at least nearer to the play offs. i dont think joe royle can be expected to adapt so quickly to latics and i am not going to make many judgements about him from this season cause of this
-
The officials were a disgrace.
didnt let the game flow.
the sending off was pathetic.
We played poor.
As did they.
Great free kick.
There '6' fans who kept cheering cheesed me off.
Im pretty happy with the point haha.
We got a few fans thrown out.
Haha.
I loved the chant 'its like watching the bill' when the police came near us all.
why?
-
There'd be quite a few Latics fans who wouldn't want to live in the future if he was appointed.
mind you, his dad was a nice enough bloke
because they live in the past
-
Not just idiots mate, the younger generation who didnt see Goram before in his first stint will, and quite rightly so, judge him on what they saw in front of them. Just as older ones can judge him on his original performances as they were there to see them.
The same should go for Royle. Of course he is and always will be a legend to those around in his first tenure, but for the those not around for the pinch me seasons should surely be allowed to form opinions based on what they see in front of them and not misty eyed nostalgia? Why should the teenagers going today not base their opinions on what Royle delivers now, not what he has done in the past. It is just as much their club and they are intitled to their opinion just as much as anyone else, it doesnt matter if they were there in the glory days. Thats why I think it could be a good idea for Royle to leave at the end of the season, reputation still intact.
thankyou

Not quite sure Mark Robins will go down well with Latics fans for some reason!
because most latics fans live in the past
-
Oh yes... No doubting that...
Puts in the postion now where we have no choice but to build a new stand while faced with serious econmic challenges... Wasnt the brightist move to knock something down while not being in a postion to carry out the planned work... One of the few own goals scored by the TTA
i think it was a good idea because it was an eyesore

Your young ... You will learn... Bitterness and hate takes a while to manifest
We hate Man U .. we hate Man U.... repeat to fade and last breath
i dont hate teams because they are better than us. instead i admire them

I watched wolfy (and taylor) play as kids being a couple of years older...wolfy always looked like a very decent finisher.....
I disagree with the statement "you're only as good as your strikers". I played as a striker, and I was quite a good finisher and decent enough on the ball. I played for 2 teams with the same strike partner, one decent and one rubbish team. Where did we score more goals? The decent team where chances were created.
If you look at the chances we created on Saturday, there wasn't agreat deal. Allesandra's only real chance was when he scored but had it disallowed and he took that VERY well. There is a distinct lack of quality balls down the channels, over the top and crosses. It's hard to score when this happens. I think both lewis and wolfy (with the right guidance) could score plenty. They may need to work on where to run and their positional game a touch, but thats a hell of a lot EASIER to learn than finishing.
You could say movement from the whole team is poor right now anyway!
this is why i said i agree with what joe royle said up to a point cause our problem this season has been danny whitaker and mark allott
-
At the start of the season, people were worried about how we still hadn't signed a right winger, Demar Phillips was a hot topic...as was bemoaning Shez's ultimate failure to bring someone in and the restoration of Andy Liddell to the flank.
Fast forward eight months, and one of the good things to come out of a disappointing season has been the emergence of Deane Smalley on the right. Sure, he's not yet the finished article...but he's improved throughout the season, and if we can get both Deano and Tayls firing at the same time regularly then we could/should be a real threat down the wings next season.
I for one am glad that we never brought a RW in...Deano's begun to flourish now; a real threat when running at defenders and he's got a handful of goals to boot. His crossing is sometimes what let's him down, but it's not that bad...and he's getting there.
Well done Deane.
i agree that both players are positives for latics but we know from this season that wide players will not make us successful

If you consider yourself as a customer with football then there is a problem and you are probably going to find yourself dissapointed mostly. Think about the situation from the opinion of a player, if they are discouraged by the attitude of supporters then the supporters are making a problem and so they should stop being so
