tell u summat though, supportin the blues, there is never a dull moment

Whether you agree with the decision or not we wern't scoring even with Hughes in the team. We've tried loads of permutations with different partners in a bid to get a winning formula but so far without success, he's been sat on a contract offer since before Christmas and still hasn't signed it which tells me he's definitely on his way.
The club have been very supportive of Lee throughout his contract and the very least you would expect is a bit of loyalty.
We've offered him a great deal rumoured to be over 4K a week and I really doubt he will get a much better offer even in the championship. Doncaster wern't prepared to pay it and next season he'll be another year older and I'm not sure he'd be pulling up any trees in the division above anyway!!
I think the doubters will now realise that Joe Royle is THE BOSS....No way on this earth would Sheridan have had the balls to drop the leading scorer at any time this season.
I don't think we've given up on the playoffs and just maybe we'll see a different attitude on Saturday. Let's hope we see a few goals from players who actually WANT to play for this club.
Well done Joe Royle!!!!
TOO RIGHT!
Sheridan wouldn't have had the guts to drop him; his performances have been lack lustre for too long and its time to give someone else a chance. Thanks for all you've done Lee, but im with Joe on this one.

I personally like many would be absolutley gutted if Joe did not start the season as Manager of Oldham Athletic. I think if he does then stand by for mega changes in the way we play and there will no doubt be many new faces.
There is still a glimmer this season of the play offs but I for one would be happy to write this season off if it meant Joe was focussing on the long term future of OAFC and the establishment of a new order
totally agree, he's still a class manager, let him try and get us out of this league next season if we fail to do so this time around.

I think the matchday experience is spoilt by the current state of the playing surface. The standard of football will inevitably suffer because one touch football is virtually impossible with the ball bobbling all over the place. The rugby lot need to go and churn up someone else's pitch.
-
I think we need to bring a midfielder in, especially if Lee/Stephens are not to Joe's liking.
Christ... still cant believe he is manager...
I think the centre of midfield has let us down in recent games, Allott and Maher are good players but I dont know if they offer enough of an attacking threat.
-
We've got a squad capable of making the playoffs, they just need a massive kick up the backside! Our form at the start of the season showed what we are capable of, its all down to Big Joe's man management skills now!
-
On a philosophical note, if we don't achieve promotion, it won't be Joe Royle's fault, if we do, will Sheridan get any credit or will Royle take all the plaudits?
Shez has to be credited with a fantastic start to the season but ultimately he threw the good work away with a host of draws and defeats against mediocre teams. Hopefully Royle can ignite some passion into the performances of our players.
-
What an astonishing appointment!!! I don't think anybody (except Harry) saw that coming, hence why I found the rumour so ridiculous last week.
Fantastic news.
-
i think the suggestion of Joe Royle really is ridiculous.
some people are living in the past.

Runs around like a headless chicken and makes the worng decisions at the vital moments.
IMO he has huge potential but has alot to learn.

Like a good number of owtb posters, I have given the manager a lot of latitude, believing that due to his standing he was entiteld to the end of the season.
However, with the tools that he has been given by TTA, I believe that we should be hanging on the shirt tails of Leicester. The players have proved time and again this season that they can at least match any team in this division. What they have lacked is the prearation to deal with the teams who are not as good, but who come with an organised game plan. Lessons have not been learnt.
So, it's time for a change, and I don't say that in frustration or anger.
We are still in with a shout and we shouldn't change for the sake of change. What we need is a man who can take us on in the last 10 games. IMO that man is Royle. He is currently free and I believe that made an offer would not turn us down in what would be a swan song to his career.
He started at BP and the chance to finsih with 2/3/4 years, get us up and give us stability would be a challenge he would be prepared to take on.
Come on TTA you know it makes sense it's over to you.
Pleassssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssse.
Cheers,
Harry
Edited to add poll (1st poll ever so hope it doesn't flop)
P*** OFF HARRY.

I think Windass was a quality player but lost his form quite quickly. There is no room for sentiment in a promotion chasing team, nobody has an automatic place in the starting eleven.
Sorry Dean but your ego has gotten the better of you this time, thanks for Leicester, bye bye.

I think Hines to RB, liddell or eards to right wing, Whits for Maher.

The rarely wrong Chron says:
John Sheridan revealed that Hughes was hurt in the warm-up before last Saturday’s home game against Swindon, though he played the full 90 minutes.
No wonder he was off colour! Why risk playing our top goalscorer when injured?
-
had my windows smashed and radio nicked from there after a tuesday night game.
club car park all the way from then on.
-
If hughes would have been paying attention when that set piece was taken early he would have had enough time to head it into the goal. I didn't think he had any focus last night.
The taylor incident showed lack of discipline on hughes part too, there was no need to react the way he did.

It might not live up to Anfield's never walk alone stuff but i think it'd get the team going.
-
why can't we all sing 'oh when the blues' with scarves up?
that'd be awesome if we could get everyone to do it
-
-
they also can't understand how they were beaten by a better football team.
-
Why does it have to be one or the other? They're a partnership...this isn't like the Lomax/Eards issue, where one should play and the other shouldn't...we have two quality, quality strikers...just because one contributes more than the other in a certain area doesn't mean that they can't both play
Hughes is a better finisher, Windass is probably a better link up player. Both can both finish and link up. Sounds like a pretty darn good partnership to me.
I agree. They both have different qualities that make their partnership a good one. Windass's link up play and Hughes's finishing could well fire us into the Championship.
-
He did a couple of dummys that would have been great chances had the rest of the team been up to speed.
Class.
-
I still think we've got a good chance of finishing second
Maybe on the form we showed in the first 6/7 games, but since then we've been unable to finish off poor teams.
We need to make sure we make the playoffs.
-
Last time I brought friends we ran out of food, drink and I couldnt buy a program... I was pretty embrassed...
I have no problem getting my mates to come for games like leeds, stockport, leicester, hudds. Its just the tuesday night games they arn't too enthusiastic about!
Hughes to The Lashers!

I really dont see it this way. The team with sheridan and hughes in the last few months was terrible. It was depressing to watch. I know he was a goalscorer, but you could see with his performances that he wasn't motivated enough by wearing the oldham shirt, play someone who is!
I see this as a progressive step, up the latics!
