  1. Furman Next for Latics? McCall loses out on midfielder By - 22/06/2009 10:16 Stuart McCall is set to lose out on target Dean Furman to League One side Oldham Athletic. Furman spent last season on loan at Valley Parade, playing 33 games during which time he won a number of plaudits. His displays helped him win a number of accolades at the end of season awards and he also chalked up four goals. He returned to Ibrox where his contract expires this summer, but he has stalled on signing a new deal because he wants regular first-team action ahead of the next World Cup. Staged in his native South Africa, the World Cup is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Furman hence his desire to find first-team football. McCall told the Telegraph & Argus: "We've been very good for Deano and he's been terrific for us. I know he loved his time here and would like to come back but, in fairness, he wants to play at the highest level possible. "As much as we've done everything we can to get him back, I think he'll be joining a League One club if they can come up with the (compensation) money that Rangers are looking for." Furman is now tipped to be signing for Oldham Athletic this week, now under the management of former Darlington boss Dave Penney.
  2. no mention of agreed deals with agents by DP only that we are in negotiations with a number of targets arriving back from Hols this week.. DP mentions should know more this time next week
  3. Transfer moves will pick up this week training starting a week today most players will want to be fixed up this week and ready to start pre-season Monday Worthington - Will do a solid job for us a good addition to replace Allott Purdie - Looks like a good-un plays down both wings through the middle and also at fullback Jacobson - leftback finally a left footed fullback (we hope) if he gets back to his best good signing Vaughan - nothing official as yet but looks that way lets give him chance to prove himself (DP has said we don't want another fullback unless one moves out so a depature or dodgy reports?! Lets hope the other three promised or deals agreed with agents arrive this week.. I think we will have two or three more permanent signings then a couple of long term loans to arrive after pre-season.
  4. DP knows what he's doing not another topic of slagging players off before they play a game I'm sure we will see a couple of strikers and maybe Furman arrive next week. Lets give the lad a chance and back him welcome to BP James
  5. Worth a season loan would be a very good signing if Clarke or Abbott turns us down Dickinson set for loan switch Derby striker to spend season away from Pride Park Last updated: 19th June 2009 Dickinson set for loan switch Derby have confirmed that striker Liam Dickinson is set for another loan spell away from Pride Park next season. The 23-year-old is still to make his senior debut for the Rams after joining the club in a £750,000 deal from Stockport last summer. He had temporary stints with Huddersfield, Blackpool and Leeds last term and can expect to spend the season out on loan once again. Dickinson has been unable to force his way into manager Nigel Clough's plans and chairman Adam Pearson believes all parties will benefit from another move. "There is certainly a lot of interest at the bottom end of the Championship to buy Liam - but not at a price that we think is right," Pearson told the Derby Evening Telegraph. "I think at this stage, it could well be that he goes out on loan for another year. "If we loan him out, we might want to put him into League One where we think he will score a lot of goals and his value will go up. "It is doubtful he would be part of the plans here because he would be fifth or sixth-choice striker and that is no good for Liam at the moment."
  6. Rehman: City move felt right Zesh Rehman signed a two-year deal with City last night after snubbing higher-division interest. Luke O’Brien, Joe Colbeck and Leon Osborne are also putting pen to paper as Stuart McCall’s squad continues to take shape. Rehman said: "There were a couple of other clubs from a higher league but this just felt right. "My gut feeling told me to sign for Bradford and I've absolutely no regrets. From day one, I felt at home here. I'm fortunate enough to have played in all the divisions and I see this as the next step of my journey. "I'm 25 now and still feel the best years are ahead of me." McCall revealed that Rehman, like Peter Thorne, has taken a hefty pay cut to commit to the club where he spent the second half of last season on loan. Rehman was believed to have been targeted by Oldham, who have been linked with many out-of-contract players this summer, including Dean Furman. McCall said: “We know the differential from what Zesh was getting paid last season and this season is huge. And I know he could have got more money from a club at a higher division.
  7. never linked with him were we?! our three players that were signing this week have gone awol so maybe he was one
  8. Good signing welcome to BP Joe.. Anymore news later this afternoon???

  14. Amine Chermiti has been linked with a move to Newcastle. The Tunisian striker has already been coveted by several big clubs all over Europe such as Marseille and Hamburg, but Newcastle hope to land the striker. His performance in the African Champions League, where he scored eight goals in the tournament, has seen his value sky rocket and Newcastle may have to pay up to £4 million to land the Tunisian international. There will be several clubs who may attempt to snap up the striker, but Newcastle are in the driving seat
  15. We would need a spare 200-300k for Will Buckley Hertha Berlin striker ?! We shall see this week hopefull the four dont have a change of mind
  16. Llera looks like hes going to Charlton would be very happy with Abbott and Clarke

  18. Four poised to sign for Latics Reporter: Latics latest by TONY BUGBY Date online: 12/06/2009 ATHLETIC are close to completing the signings of four new players as their plans for the 2009/10 season move into overdrive. Manager Dave Penney’s persuasive skills and tireless work this week has been rewarded with progress made on the transfer front. He said: “Bids for four players have been agreed with their agents and hopefully they will be completed next week once they return from holiday.” Penney will not name his targets until they have actually put pen to paper but said: “Once those four join Rob Purdie and Jon Worthington in signing you will see the squad gradually taking shape.” That will take the number of new signings to six, but Penney reckons that won’t be the end of the transfer activity as nine players left the club before the summer break. Penney added that there will be a couple more to come in, while further down the line there is the option of bringing in loan players. He continued: “Clubs are not going to be making decisions about loaning players at this stage. “They will probably wait until a couple of weeks after pre-season training has started when they start to finalise which players will feature.” Penney is a fan of the loan system, pointing out while managing Darlington he borrowed David Wheater from Middlesbrough. That loan was a success for both parties as, 18 months later, Wheater had established a regular first-team place back at the Riverside and also forced his way into the England squad. Penney reassured fans there is nothing to worry about, despite the lack of signings so far. He continued: “There is no need to panic as there are still two-and-a-half weeks before pre-season training starts. “Most players are still looking around for the best deals. But with pre-season beckoning they will want to get fixed up so there will be a lot more activity from this point.” Penney says that he is speaking to players and agents on a daily basis and it is a case of identifying the best available and then seeing whether they are affordable.
  19. lets hope they get it right this time and we do get a signing
  20. Billy Clarke Decision next week maybe? NOTTS County boss Ian McParland is hoping to make serious progress next week in his bid to land former Ipswich striker Billy Clarke. McParland has been frustrated in his attempts to lure the talented young Irishman to Meadow Lane by a family bereavement, and the fact that he is currently away on holiday. But the Magpies manager is pushing for a meeting with the player and his agent for early next week, so that he can move things on. McParland said: "I know that a number of clubs are interested in Billy and he will have a lot of talking and thinking to do when he gets back from holiday. But both he and his agent realise that we are serious about signing him, and I'm encouraged by the fact that he has not dismissed the possibility of joining us. "I know that some of the interested clubs are in higher divisions than us so realistically, it's still a long shot. But hopefully I can get the backing to make a good offer and we can convince him when we meet that Notts County is the club for him." McParland added that time is now of the essence and he is anxious to get a decision one way or the other. He said: "If Billy wants to join us then I will be delighted but if not, we need to move on. We already have a list of targets - not just strikers but for other positions as well - which I've given to the prospective new owners."
  21. DP has done all he can now ID players he wants and offer them deals.. Like he has said most players are on Holiday mulling over cffers they have most will leave it aslong as they can trying to get the extra ££'s.. I would expect to hear/see more activity early July once contract run out as nava has mentioned.. Looking around the league not much movement at'all I think we are the most active with two signings!!
