I'm sure Banger will have had his failings pointed out to him by previous managers.  Hopefully he'll take  notice of what Scholes tells him.

I can partly agree although what Nicky Banger has got to do with this topic, I'm not sure.

He seemed to come to the fore under PW. In France and at the level he was playing at, he my have been highly rated at his club.

  2. You will know better than me but how quickly can you change the mindset of a player in their mid 20s?

Also taking into account, nothing of note will have taken place last Tuesday. Day after a match would be light training (I'm guessing), Thursday possibly full on training, Friday light training and tactics (again I'm guessing).

  3. At the moment, I think PS is giving all the fringe players a chance off the bench. Whether they take that opportunity to shine is down to them. I'm not expecting a world beating 10 mins but, as in Benteke's case yesterday, I would have expected a glimmer of ability or effort. I fully expect Coke to come off the bench on Tuesday.

As for yesterday, I agree with other posters who said we lost our way after Baxter and Lang went off. Maouche did an excellent job of holding onto the ball in the first half but was became less effective when he was pushed forward. In hindsight, bringing Benteke on was a mistake. Somebody else posted Stott should have come on for Dearnley allowing Nepo to move forward which I agree was a very good shout.

Where I disagree is over Branger. I thought in the first half he linked up well with the movement of Lang, Baxter and Dearnley. He continually dealt with the problem of two defenders because of the liveliness of the other three running into space. Crewe played with a packed defence for most of the game so pumping crosses in was not going to create anything.

We can't preach about holding people to contracts when we are not fully honouring them ourselves. Im pretty sure in most contracts it tells us what day of the month you will be paid something we didn't honour while Davies was here.

We treat people like this they will either put in half arsed performances or in many cases walk away (I would of fucked off along time ago if I had a boss like AL Life is far too short to go to work for a shit boss). Im hoping lessons are being learned regarding this.

Did you take the same view with Corney paying players late on a regular basis for several years?

    Quelle surprise.

    Any detail inaccuracies here?

    ".....the thing he [AL] has to learn/understand is, his behaviour;

    - wages/pension contributions paid late or not at all, SAME AS CORNEY

    - his treatment of Davies, Fane, Gerrard, Byrne, LPDuffus [justified or not], SEE BELOW

    - signing players that didn't seem up to it & on big wages, LEARNING CURVE.....Get your head out of your arse.

    - entering the dressing room, FAILING MANAGERS.

    - sacking Wellens, sacking Rhodes, sacking Bunn,

    - meddling in selection, FAILING MANAGERS

.....could well have been a significant contributor to Hunt asking his Agent to find him alternative employment in the first place"

Your starting position on every discussion on this subject is AL is in the wrong. In your strange head, the players kicked out were lovable rogues and the managers he got rid of should have been given more time.

I had no problem with getting rid of Davies, Gerrard and Byrne as I always felt they thought they were bigger than than their actual ability. Fane was another matter as I have no idea what actually happened.

As for managers, I think both were weak and if AL felt they were underperforming, then why should an owner sit by and let the rot continue.

OK, you can disregard the entire tenet of the post based on one detail inaccuracy if you like, however the sentiment still holds true on the basis he fell out with Davies [on this occasion because Davies wanted to leave but he didn't let him] which had a detrimental effect on the team. How he [AL] handles HR situations in the future clearly requires improvement......!

I would say it's more than a detail inaccuracy. At the time, we had a good partnership going between Davies and Doyle. Why would he consider letting him go? In this instance, AL did nothing wrong.

Both could well be true..... when AL falls out with players for not singing to his tune [Davies, Fane, Gerrard, Byrne]...... he freezes them out to encourage them to leave..... Hunt may have enraged him twice, for his Agent touting him about in the 1st place and then not leaving after being sent to the naughty step...... the thing he [AL] has to learn/understand is, his behaviour - wages/pension contributions paid late or not at all, his treatment of Davies, Fane, Gerrard, Byrne [justified or not], signing players that didn't seem up to it & on big wages, entering the dressing room, sacking Wellens, sacking Rhodes, sacking Bunn, meddling in selection, could well have been a significant contributor to Hunt asking his Agent to find him alternative employment in the first place. Fix the root cause and then he won't have the problems he does.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall Davies being frozen out. He played turned up for most of the 2nd half of the season to collect his wage without breaking sweat..….I can't see how that was AL's fault.

    A few numbers:

7 goals scored in the last two games

7 different goal scorers in Branger, Dearnley, Nepomuceno, Baxter, Lang, Maouche, Missilou

4 #frenchlads looking like decent players

    3 loanees justifying being here

2 young lads starting regularly having come through the ranks

    1 JBB

    1 Captain, Leader, Legend

Stop that.....you know full well there are a number on here who are of the opinion that where these lads came from make them English non-league at best.

Branger is a predominately left footed player who, as well as being played in his best position (wide left ahead of Nepomuceno) has added consistency to his game recently. Last night illustrated that playing Gevaro at fullback in tandem with Johan ahead of him has potential 😀

    Well said, sir!

Where's my upboat button...….who's taken my upboat button.

For me the worst part is Hunt comes on and is match fit affected. He's only played 3/4 of a match in 6 weeks. It is a real risk of losing points and even injury. Hunt may have needed punishing, none of us may truly know, but to do it to the detriment of the team seems bizarre.

    But was he punished?

It's a genuine question.....I have no "source" but I have still to see evidence apart from hearsay.

He played well tonight... and played his part at Crawley too. All credit to him.... but he’s been woeful for much of the season IMO and it’s not untrue that Hunt & Dummigan have been banished to train with the youth, with Branger starting by default / on instruction by the owner / not because he merited it. If he keeps this mini form up then he should continue to start.... however I still feel - on showing over a longer period of time - that Nepo further forward with Hunt or Dummigan at full back is a better option.

I'm struggling to get my head around the Hunt playing with the kids bit...….he came off the bench a couple of weeks ago and looked like he was carrying an injury. Also, if (as we have been hearing) Scholes has been around the camp for at least a couple of weeks prior to his appointment would AL banish Hunt and Dummigan only to let Scholes bring Hunt back first match. If they were with the kids when he started to assist PW, surely he would have insisted on observing a full first team squad.

Like many things in this crazy world.....it doesn't make sense.

Do you mean the :clown: will still pick the team for tomorrow?

Did good on Saturday...….what's your problem?

Apart from the tedious of that emoji.…..which was funny for a day, then it was boring for a long time but now it's passed even that.

You need to up your game!!!

Too much cloak and dagger speculation going on. I would rather believe the 'people taking bollocks' aspect..."I know someone who walks the dog of the cleaner at the club and an announcement is expected at 18:30 today". Did the club actually announce an announcement?

Hellfire, there must be some decent wages paid at BP if the cleaner can afford a dog-walker!!!
