  1. not one of them players that you posted is a striker so it is hard to compare. and he's pretty muched produced since he opened his account at bournmouth. Imo he is definitly the best striker i have seen in recent times as he has so much to his game that 99% of players at this level dont have. and thats why it would be a blow because we wouldnt only loose his goals. but like i said it wouldnt be the end for us.
  2. guessed it in one!! so i thought i would spend the night on here instead!! much more benificial.
  3. We have to do what ever we can to keep him as has been said he is by far the best striker we have. But there is a limit to how far we can go. It would be a massive blow but we do have some other forwards at this club who are not too shabby themselves. and im sure we would try and replace him by using the money we would get for him. but at the moment it hasnt happened so no need to worry......yet!
  4. I hope your right. I just hope they can resist going that way but wont be suprised if they cant. i think at the very least they will raise the salary cap to a level where some teams can afford to go to the maximum spending and others will struggle to. It wil be an interesting year until something is agreed.
  5. i think thorne is out for a month rocky which is why they have probably signed him.
  6. jesus!! not every signing works out you know! benitez and wenger have had just as many flops as shez has had if not more. he also signed some that have worked out that many doubted like crossley and allott. god id hate to of seen you during the talbot and moore days!!
  7. i can only see us making the byfield loan pernament unless hughes goes so i wouldnt expect another striker coming in. definitly a keeper and a defender either a left back or centre half or maybe a player who can cover both? hopefully a midfeilder aswell but im not sure if he wil do. As for a keeper i would expect a young keeper from a prem/championship team. breckin is a good shout for the defence but i would assume a deal would have to be done with forest because i cant see him being on peanuts. I cant really think of any midfeilders who would improve us or give us something different that we could realistically afford. hopefully we will come accross another young gem who is waiting for the breakthrough like kilkenny (1st time round)
  8. to be honest now that its being discussed i can only see it happening. theres very little loyalty in the nfl its all about the money (similar to the prem i know but they dont try and deny it.) i suppose it was always going to happen one day the question was just when.
  9. cheers for that. if that happens then teams like cleveland and cincinatti will struggle like hell to attract top players.
  10. just on the salary cap. is it goin out the window in a couple of years or was it dismissed? i cant remember for the life of me.
  11. anything could happen saturday with this guy. still remember bradford away when he blew for full time as mark hughes was clean through! he is one ref who is definitly card happy!! i think i read somwhere he has booked 62 players so far this season in 16 games. i was suprised it was that low!
  12. i think its the right deal for both us and COG. he's clearly 5th choice striker at the moment (behind hughes, byfeild, davies and lewi and rightly so imo) we can only play 2 of them the way we play at the moment so we clearly have enough depth if one of them gets injured. if the wost happens and hughes is off i'll assume we will bring someone in. and anyway and its only a month 4 christ sake if we need him he will be back with us. we would have to be really unlucky to loose 2 or 3 strikers in a month. we was all goin mad last season when we was short upfront saying we would be f***** if we had an injury. well now its covered and covered with quality so no harm in him goin and playing a few games for someone else. as to why shez signed him i dont no, but my guess is that he hasnt impressed shez enough in training and the few games he played for us and bury and he feels we are better of with the others.
  13. no suprise to see our defence let the chargers walk through them. after 13 years i think its time for a change of head coach we need something new. anyway my ownly plus point is that we would of gone out agaist the colts anyway. bring on a top defensive lineman in the draft and a few more free agents.
  14. that would be from chris m**** days though he was signed by dowie. i doubt it would be much more than half that at the very most.
  15. who's more dangerous lidds or smalley? whilst i beleive lidds is cleary past his best i cant really remember smalley having a major influence on a game. plus how many games has he played since he's come back from injury? i'll give you the point on corners though.
  16. eardley did ok today i thought. although he does still do the odd silly thing when he has the ball at his feet he still looks miles comfier than lomax who clearly panicks wen he has the ball. it didnt help neal that until lidds came on he didnt really have anybody in front of him with lee roaming about in the middle.
  17. definitly. at the start of the season Peyton looked like he maybe goin downhill a little but the last 7 weeks or so he's been playing like he did when he threw 49 TD's a few years ago. Eli on the other hand has just been consistently good and if i had to put a bet on which 2 teams end up in the superbowl it would definitly be these 2.
  18. i really fancy the colts now they have got some of their best players back and are on a roll. i really hope denver beat the chargers on sunday (its gonna be a late one though staying up and watching that.) we need to sort out the defense in the off season with the draft.
  19. i might be wrong but i think he played for rossario central or he did at one point before us. didnt we also have his mate on trial who was a cenre back? i know he didnt leave any lasting impressions though.
  20. johnny i blame you for my 1st hangover in years. what the hell was that drink you gave us!!! yeh great do again beardy!!
  21. Right boys and girls. Let me just add a few points of information for you so that you don't all go off at the wrong tangent. First of all I can confirm that even before the planning application went before the planning committee (The 1st time in November) the club had been in discussion with housing developers and the subject had been raised about changing any future detailed planning application from 693+ apartments to around 350-400 3 and 4 bed houses. So this piece of "news" is not exactly new to some who have been fairly close to what is going on. The fact of the matter is that an "outline" planning permission, as has been granted to Latics gives a "maximum" number of units that can be built under the planning permission issued. However the eventual developer/builder can submit a "Detailed" application in due course to build a reduced number (but not more) without affecting the terms of the issued consent. Simple maths will give you some answers to how and why this would happen. The planned apartments in the issued consent are 1 and 2 bedroomed and would sell on the open market for between £90K & £120K. So taking as an avearge £105K selling price this would generate a total housing developemnt figure of £73 million. By building say 350 number 3 and 4 bed houses instead that would sell for between £160K and £250K and taking an average selling price of £210K a figure of £73 million would also be produced. The land price the club will receive will not therefore be too much different by buidling 693 apartments or 350 houses. The reason for the outline application and consent being in the form that it was/is, is that it gives greater flexibility when selling the land. Whilst the club probably could not make too many concessions to the residents prior to planning permission being granted, the fact that they can now enter detailed discussions with prospective developers for the sale of the land and the developers can look at the market and see what is selling and what is not before they decide what to build. In the meantime, the club can be confident that although there is currently a slump in the market, they have a very saleable asset and were safe in the knowledge that they could pledge to continue to talk to residents about their concerns, knowing that there was a possible alternative at hand. Hope this helps. Cheers, on behalf of Harry Dowds Green Shirt Because Harry can't log in
