  1. I know a couple of people at work who are going to it who don't even support Latics and a few more are thinking about it. I just hope a fair share of them come back for the remaining games this season.
  2. bindippers have lost! shame about Scunny though. We'll just have to do it ourselves then
  3. I was just about to post the same thing. They obviously have high hopes for the lad and it makes sense for him to be playing more 1st team football. I know Flemming will be back soon but they might feel that he has a better chance of taking his place than their own keeper at the moment.
  4. Just spoke to HDGS who reckons a keeper is possibly coming in from 1 of Royles old clubs. The only clue I could get was that the team has (a) been in the premiership in the last 10 years and ( doesn't have an X or z in the name. Cheeky. So I guess that only leaves Everton, Manchester City & Ipswich.
  5. Hard to say really. I know full well it will be a lot more than it would of been a few hours ago but not sure. it would be perfect if we could come close to selling out, I'd be happy with anything over 6500 latics fans.
  6. absolutely delighted!! we have nothing to loose in the slightest now and this will certainly recapture the imagination and attention of the fans who like myself felt we had blown it this season. it would be the ultimate fairytale if it works out! i can't get this smile of my face!
  7. I agree with that 100% Totally undermined him with his comments in his blog and i can't see any manager who comes in would want a player like that.
  8. Thanks Shez for your 3 seasons as manager and more as a player but it was the right decision and 95% of people seem to agree. Where this idea of one of the lowest budgets in the league comes from i really don't know. It might be next season considering the crowds have dropped to the 4500 mark but this season never.
  9. Well if he hadn't of won against an ageing boxer (all be it a ledgend) he would of had a serious task on his hands to get to the top. And never in a million years would i pay 16 quid or what ever it was to watch an overated boxer Vs one who should of retired a couple of years ago. Looking forward to Rickys fight now with Manny.
  10. The only thing that kept a slight smile on my face today watching latics today was the thought of watching it again. and the reaction of the scum fan in the red lion was priceless at the end of the game saying to the 6 or 7 latics fans in there " see you scousers in the european cup final then" I didnt know where to start with him!
  11. Well thats what you have to expect when your signing Hartlepools 2nd choice keeper and the 1st isn't that good. If Josh Bell cant do any better then he may aswel give up now. Shez hasn't done himself any favours when it comes to the loan market.
  12. We definitly need a change but i think for now we have to just appoint til the end of the season. if we sign a manager for the long term we could very well end up with the same situation as Moore and Talbot in the way that they acheived their initial aim of keeping us up but were not the right men to take us to the next level. As for who it should be im not too sold on Gannon as stockport fans are quite mixed on their feelings of him this season (how much that has to do with him applying for the Brighton job im not sure.) and i doubt he would come right now, it would more likely be in the summer.
  13. We have got to act this week or kiss our faint playoff hopes goodbye. If a new manager was brought in then he really does have a chance because lets face it, they arn't bad players far from it but there is clearly something lacking and it has to be coming from the management. 4 of the last 6 performances have been woeful (Yeovil, Bristol, Colchester) and today just compounded it for me. I missed the 1st ten mins so i didn't see Mahers goal but we looked ok for the majority of the half if only we had Flemming in net and not budtz we could quite easily of gone in 2-0 at half time. But something happened over half-time whether it was that the players were told to sit back, Liddell coming on and having to change the gameplan because of his lack of pace i dont know but as soon as they went ahead i started to worry. the use of the substitutes left much to be desired yet again especially a forward for a forward at 4-2 down? If we had lost 6-2 having took a defender of for Lewis Whilst i still would of been gutted at least we would have been going for it. Not felt this down hearted about latics for a long time and firmly beleive we have f***ed up big time in the last couple of months.
  14. I highly doubt he gave him a proper punch maybe a playful slap on the cheek or something like that. the fan is probably trying to get himself in the papers or isn't to fond of the special one.
  15. I fancy a win which will probably make the Bristol and Colchester results even more frustrating.
  16. We missed Taylor but i agree he hasn't been playing too well of late. Still I think he would of been a bigger threat than lidds but i would of thought any player would of struggled to of made an impact in our 1st half performance yesterday. In fairness Colchester played some nice stuff but it was all too easy for them really.
  17. Didn't they do that with us a few seasons back? We had behind the goal and then the far 2 blocks in the main stand. well that was officially anyway most of the main stand were actually latics fans! i just hope both teams go up and don't bottle it like they usually do.
  18. Shez has done a decent job as manager of Latics. Unfortunately in football you dont get anywhere in doing a decent job as manager ( Avram Grant is the perfect example). I can't see Shez taking us to the next level, so do we leave it and take a chance for the rest of this season more in hope than expectation that we make the playoffs or do we make the change and hope a new manager can get the players motivated and better prepared to have a good go at making them? Also a manger who has a bit more adventure in him with his team selections, tactics and substitutions. I don't really know what would be best but i cannot see Shez being here come august.
  19. For the first 10 games or so i thought Liddell was worth his place in the team which suprised me because i seriously thought we had made a mistake in resigning him. since then he has done nothing which eventually cost him his place in the starting 11 and hasn't done anything coming on as a sub either in the games where he has been given a decent amount of time on the pitch. As for the 5 minute cameos its mainly been to run the clock down but he hasn't really done it. i.e taking the ball into the corner. My opinion is now we move on from lidds and look at younger players like Smalley and Lee and see what they can do. (and Smalley isn't doing badly at all at the moment.)
  20. Not goin so well for rocky!! I hope both these teams come up in all honesty as it would be two more great away days and would beat going to wycombe and places like that.
  21. i refuse to take any blame whatsoever johnny for my inconsiderate planning
  22. Been to the Nou camp a few times and seen Barcelona play Las Palmas, Real Madrid and Chelsea, not sure if the last one counts though? the Madrid match was out of this world for both the match and atmosphere. you will never get anything like it in this country. Also seen Tenerife play a few times against real jaen, ferrol and barcelona. the games against jaen and ferrol were played infront of about 6-7000 and there wasnt much of an atmosphere at those with the exception of a few hundred ultras behind the goal. But agaist barcelona it was a full house and it was rocking till barca went 3-0 up after about 20 mins. considering half the fans 2nd team were Barca they just started supporting them instead and it was pretty funny to see. I had a Barca shirt on underneath my Tenerife shirt and as soon as the 4th goal went in i thought i had might aswell take it off and join in with the others.
  23. Maher for me, now he has been given a run in the team he is starting to show us what he can do. Whittaker has scored a few cracking goals but i dont really see what he offers us when we're struggling like we have been for the last month or so. I feel much more confident with Maher in the team than i do when Whitts is, and by judging from the votes cast so far it would seem that so are other latics fans.
  24. some would say that most of London isn't much better
