  1. Not sure the top Prem clubs are keen to loan players to League One sides as the Championship teams are happy to take them and the quality is slightly better. Looking at Wigan & Bolton could be a good shout though!
  2. Speaking to some of the lads back at home.. we WILL go into Administration! not sure we can afford to sell any players as we are down to the bare bones as it is. Our first team manager is turning out for the reserves tonight and the bench on Friday for the match against Gillingham will have no players with first team experience (not even as subs) So selling players is not really an option! I can see a long winter ahead.. Hopefully Latics will give me something to cheer about!
  3. On April 25th 2010, Chaddy the Owl will set off on a 26 and a bit mile run to support the Stroke Association. Training for Chaddy will start in earnest at the end of October and he will be seen weekly on the treadmill of his local gym. For reasons that are obvious to most Latics fans he will be avoiding the exercise bikes! Chaddy will be helped on his run by Oldham Athletic Community Trust’s Manager, Colin Moore, who has agreed to be our favourite Owl for the day! Chaddy and Colin are looking forward to the challenge and really hope you can support them raise funds for an extremely worthy cause! Background The North West has the highest mortality rates from stroke in the UK, with Oldham having one of the highest mortality rates in the whole of Greater Manchester. We want to reduce this inequality in Oldham and across Greater Manchester. Each year approximately 150 Oldham residents die from a stroke and there are over 4150 people living in the Oldham’s with the after effects of stroke. However, there are things people can do to reduce the risk of stroke, for example it is estimated that if everyone with high blood pressure in Oldham were identified and treated appropriately, 163 strokes per year would be prevented. Campaign The Stroke Association, The Stroke Association is the only charity solely concerned with preventing stroke and ensuring that everyone touched by stroke across the UK gets the help they need. Services they offer include… - Stroke Helpline - Family and Carer Support Service - Communication Support Service - Stroke clubs - Welfare grants - Research - Campaigns For further information on the Stroke association visit www.stroke.org.uk Now Chaddy is looking for sponsorship and donations towards the charity and its fund raising efforts. Every penny raised will go to the Stroke Association! Anyone wishing to pledge sponsorship or help should contact Colin Moore at colin.moore@oldhamathleticct.org, via telephone on 07785 334499 or visit our Just Giving site www.justgiving.com/runchaddyrun
  4. Great..... At least I get a mention in the programme! Not sure about my fancy job title but nice keepsake! Roll on tuesday.... Good test for Latics against a strong MK dons side way from home and we will grab a point at Griffin Park!
  5. I am bloody glad you cant... 4 hour drive home once a season on my own is depressing enough... every week we would be relegated by Xmas!
  6. the infamous Blue Boar 9! Rumour has it you are the reasons for the ban on away fans from all the other pubs!!!! Scandalous behaviour! Did you enjoy your trip/weekend?
  7. Two replies for the price of one.... Yes I was the bloke that came up to the Railway from the Lion and I am sure I could get a team up for a game. Would be good to finallly get a victory against Latics. I hear the new manager of the fans team has not got off to the best of starts!
  8. Cant say I noticed any yesterday! Half decent following and made a bit of noise! What impressed me was the team spirit showed by Latics yesterday. They battled for each other and I think their reaction, as a team, said a hell of a lot! Here is looking forward to the rematch at BP!
  9. Its an OK pub but very important in the history of SUFC. I think the problem we have is the idiots that come to the Hall! With it being a seaside town we tend to attract a larger then normaal fair share of idiots and the police rather then the landlords set the rules! Railway and Spread are both decent pubs too. Its a sham the only official boozer available is the Lion which is truly awful! Good 3 points for you yesterday and a real chance to add another 6 this week with 2 very winable matches!
  10. No trouble makers at Southend. The Nelson is a bit of a dive but a friendly pub! They too have npw banned away supporters. I would say one to bear in mind for next season but not sure this will be a fixture one way or the other!
  11. If he is 4 then clubs and other coaching sessions cant really do anything due to Insurance, Child protection and OFSTED issues! When he is 5 get him on one of the Soccer Schools. The team on the Soccer Schools can signpost to one of the local charter Standard clubs that may be able to help so you know they are going to a well run club. www.oldhamathleticct.org for details of forthcoming soccer schools!
  12. I wouldnt go that far but if we both pick up April 25th will be interesting! If Shez does go who will take over?
  13. Will you or wont you? Will Latics get back into and stay in the play off places for the end of the season?
  14. You are a very good team on your day, as are we, so if we both play well it will be a cracking game with a fair few goals! Nowt worse than a 450 mile round trip for a crap game (which I have done a few times and I am sure a lot of you have)!
  15. I apologise for the Chaddy gaffe last night. It was my fault, all a bit last minute and the usual stand in was not available so I thought the stand in would be ok. He was instructed not to talk! I was wrong and lesson is learnt! I understand why the real chaddy was a little miffed but can assure all you Chaddy fans that it will never happen again. I did not realise just how passionate some of you are about the Owl... Lesson no 2 learnt!
  16. I can confirm it definitely will NOT be last nights Chaddy!!!!
  17. Or a Hamsters fan! The Golden Lion is shut and I believe the Blue Boar has stopped away fans. The Nelson is very hospitable and welcomes away fans... Looking forward to the game I just hope you play better than last night! Saying that having Hughes and Byfield back will be a massive boost for you.
  18. Unlikely Freedman will be back before end of the month unfortunately! Barney however is likely to return! Will be nice to see kevin maher back at the Hall!
  19. Name? Colin Moore Fan of? Southend United How long a supporter? of Southend around 30 years! All time favourite player? Steve Tilson, Paul Sansome or Stanley Collymore! Favourite match v Oldham? The last as we won 1 - 0 with 10 men!
