    Lidds

A good penalty taker can put them in the exact same spot every time. Because they're right in there, hitting the side netting, and unless the keeper is frikin awesome he'll not get there anyway! Better than those God awful ones from the Boro game t'other night! Waist height, half way between middle and post. 'keepers dream!
  3. Todays 5... RATM - Township Rebellion Gomez - Bring It On Modey Lemon - Tongues The National - Lit Up The New Radicals - Crying Like A Church On Monday It's been a conflicted day on the genre front, but there you go.

    Who scored the Goal

At first I wanted to say Hall, as his effort which hit the post was unlucky and I'd like to see get a league goal. But I went for Porter in the end, because it tops up his scoring record. Does anyone know how he's now doing in the race for the Soccer AM Golden Shoe?
  9. Totally agree, that is something which will click into place after a few games and as you say could really cause defenders problems, becuase if Ports/Warn had seen it coming they're great balls in - had the defence turning which is what a good ball should do.
  10. Sat in the George Hill yesterday... Richie has his moment of madness and gets sent off, Shez turns round to the bench and calls for the subs... he wants to make a change... (Ronnie looks confused, he doesn't know what they are!) Lee Nobles points out we've already made three... Shez doesn't believe him, still trying to get a sub... Tommy tells him we've made three... he doesn't believe him... then stands there like a dog chewing a wasp as his brain tinkers through who the bloody hell we have on the pitch... 4th official tells him, he gives up. we win anyway. Great comedy to end a great day!
  11. I thought he was fantastic yesterday. Came on, didn't give anything away defensivly, won some important tackles (even if they were school boy 'stick a leg out behind you' ones), some important headers, and most impressive was his forward runs. There is no doubting Charltons ability, but I thought Lomax offered a new outlet pushing on, his ability to get up and down on the overlap for Taylor allowed Taylor to come inside (which he likes to do, being on the Left) more effectivly and although his final ball let him down a couple of times that will come once he's used to being in the side. I certainly don't think he replaces Charlton, not yet anyway. But I think he did enought to give Shez another thing to think about, and if he gets a run in the side if Charlton is out with the injury I think he could potentially make the place his own.
  12. Pretty much, but I think if we can get someone in then that would change, becuase he could go out on loan and learn not to do things like that - because you simply can't be taught that kind of stuff, you have to learn it yourself from time in a comptetitive side and the experiance of getting it wrong. Same with his control. You don't improve that playing in the reserves, not drastically anyway, because you have so much time and space. However, I really don't think he could make the step up to the Championship - which I would hope to be required - which means maybe he goes out on a season long loan next year to a 3rd/4th division team and then we see where we/he stands after that.
  13. Cheers buddy! Very much appreciated!
  14. I think his biggest weakness is still the fact that the ball just doesn't stick with him. His first touch is one of the worst in the side and that is concerning. He also still makes rash decisions. Like yesterday at 1-0 up in injury time he ran clear to the right of the box, and with only one man to aim at he hoofed it into the box, instead of just taking it to the corner as Liddle was coming up on the outside, and basically allowing us to see the game out down their end. Instead they broke and Les 'glue hands' Pogliacomi had to make a save!
  15. I still have that on the official release tape somewhere! My hairs are standing on end. Oh, if only we had him to scream like that at the end of this season eh?
  16. George Hill (what is it these days?) Main stand lower. Always have, and why change the habit of a life time? Had a few goes of the Chaddy and the Broadway when on free tickets but it just doesn't feel the same.
  17. Bloody hell. I came in here expecting a random insults post - like you get on almost every single version of a 'last post' thread. Not an in depth critique of the capital punishment system in the mist of a guerilla war! I'll be back more often now, great distraction from Uni... if anyone wants to have a bash at the internationalisation of the motor industry for me I don't mind!
  18. Today, although everyone knows these things change daily. Reef - Loose PTA - Born To Get Paid Gomez - Free To Run Doves - Cedar Room Sub Sub - Space Face (I forgot I even had this!)
  19. If you get lost again there is always the "forum index" button at the top on the right, no matter which page you are on which will take you back to where you started from! hope that helps!?
  20. I think thats why I'd send him out on loan. You will not get consistency from a striker playing them once a Month and then in the reserves. The standard just isn't there. Play him in league two aginst old men who just kick lumps out of you and he'd soon learn not to let the ball go two yards away from his first touch, 'cos then you get a boot in your shin!! He's a big lad, and his strength isn't there yet - we saw that with Porter last season, his touch was ok but he just got pushed over... Hall has the same problem and similar, if not quite the same, potential! Ack
  21. There is no doubt that he can do some business. He scores well for the reserves and has a couple of goals at the 'higher' level in the FA cup now. I think he needs time and may come good (although I don't know if he could make the step up if/when we get promoted this year). I think he needs to work on things which have seen Porter stand out this season, which is his aerial ability in the middle third (first to Pog's long kicks, knock on's/down's) his finishing (obviously) and his first touch (which is fantastic), but Hall has shown reasonable skill in all those areas but lacked that step up. Porter came to us with, IMO, a fantastic first touch, which gives him time to think about the other things he wants to do with the ball - Hall does not have that - but with it could do well. For now a definite candidate for league two till the end of the season (assuming we get someone else in on loan/as back up). Ack
  22. Does having DA BLADE LAD shot count as an idea?
  23. Same as most people... not a fan of JKL board because its a nightmare to use, will probably post more on here.
