Not many crooks invest substantial amounts of money to support a failing football club for 14 years, and before you throw the asset stripping card on the table... when the 3 amigos took over the club, we were in administration, the best players had already left and the ground was owned by the council. But please enlighten me on how he is a crook, no doubt the crown prosecution services will be eagerly awaiting your evidence!!!
Hiya Si, we all miss you really

And people thought Eyresy was fishing on the Donny thread

Can't beat a bit of Ticketgate to divert attention from the non event that is naming the new manager

Will we now be able to compete with the mighty Salford budget wise?
Doubt it ,but we may be able to get Rooney on loan

And here's me thinking the idea of a new owner was not to sell the family silver ever again.

Minor irrelevant point....probably not worth mentioning but maybe Scholes insists on no players being sold without his say so.
One would like to hope so Mike but there is only one person in charge at BP
-
A forward thinking chairman/owner would be loathed to part with George unless the fee was 300k min plus very generous sell on clauses.
Maybe the club can't afford to turn down any amount of money if they are struggling to pay the bills.
On the face of it the Doncaster game may decide the future of a couple of players.Win and there is a very real chance of a bumper pay day in the next round,Lose and it's sell the family silver.

He'll tell Lemsagam to stick it if he signs players he doesn't want or is told he has to play Johan Branger and keep Hunt on the bench.
Looking forward to seeing how it'll pan out...
Ahhh, if that is the case there is every chance that he will beat Brian Clough's 44 day stint at Leeds

FWIW I have it on good authority that Scholes has taken the job, my sister and brother in law are close friends and saw him this morning. I asked if they knew who his assisstant would be but they didnt ask!! They said he is good mates with Nicky Butt.
Your Sister and Brother in law are married and remain close friends ????? nah,not having that

When is AL due back from Dubai? Might be the only thing holding the deal back because I suspect he'd want his picture printed all over the Nationals given he's ploughed a good few quid into us thus far.
Loves a good photo opportunity does

Have to hope that the manager situation is sorted in a day or two.
If it is Scholes that would massively improve our chances of loaning high quality young players similar to Lang and Surridge.
This in turn would lead to less reliance on the foreign also rans.

Wouldn't he burn in an instant?

I can't see further than Wild remaining as first team coach for the remainder of the season.
The idea that Scholes would be happy working for the and his sporting director beggars belief

For example.Cheers i could make a team from that list that would beat our foreign legion without breaking a sweat.
We know there are no allegiances in football anymore, players are only interested in how much $$$$$ they can make but i still firmly believe that homegrown players offer more than the wholesale importing of foreign recruits.
Time will definately show one way or another the effect of this recruitment policy, the owner has decided this is how he wants to run the club ( his money, his choice) maybe IF an experienced manager is installed we will see a more even spread of UK/Foreign/Youth players.

It was you that set the parameters, including area of birth, of what constitutes an Oldham Athletic team. Like I said, being born geographically close to Oldham doesn't make any difference whether you care about Oldham more or not.
So define your Oldham Athletic team.
I am still awaiting your valuation of these foreign players Jeremy Corbyn !
can you not answer my question?

Very few of our English players, whether they be local or from down south or wherever, have been "proud" to wear the shirt for years...
In fact the same will be said at most clubs in the land.
Football in general has been like that for ages now....
Have you recently awoken from been cryogenically frozen or something?
You are asking the wrong person, i suggest you visit Mr Singe, Thanks for the Walt Disney bit.

I believe the Home Grown Rule is a PL rule, not an FA rule. Not sure if there's any equivalent for FL clubs, couldn't spot one in the current Handbook.
home grown player rules do apply in EFL also

Calling a decent point, in context of the lack of striking options, the standard of the opposition and their budget, and how PW was able to react to the euphoria of the Fulham win does not automatically mean you think 15th is a good finish to the season. Plenty of our experienced ex managers and season pro managers would ahve lost that game in identical circumstances.
So now we have a team from Calais that is super proud to wear the shirt and a manager who could outwit Pep,Clough and Shankly

"We all dream of a team of Giles Coke's..."
Clearly that's said in jest, no one seriously believes that...do they?
Cokes or Omranis and Bentekes and Placides etc
You know, Kusunga did have a point about 15th, there are people here who are incapable of calling a poor performance just that.
We all loved Fulham but few called FGR crap, which it undoubtedly was, but because of the cup win we are supposed to allow a lame performance to be seen as a good effort.
15th place mentality that

What a load of crap.
If they can stay together, gel and succeed then they will be as part of LAtics folklore as any other comparable team. Some of those with apparent lack of performance level can clearly be levelled at previous manager.
Some on this board must have hated the Fulham win, unable to pour out their misanthropy.OK, how about you put a rough £££ valuation on these superstars ? i am intrigued
-
A team full of third rate foreign imports is not an Oldham Athletic team.
That said,it is a team that will find it's level at 15th in League 2 which should make the majority of this board happy.
