  1. He's a football coach not a :censored:ing social worker.

If they did what they were told, there wouldn't be a problem would there?

As for Jones, no idea why the club feel the need to tell all on the OS, but I agree with a previous poster - a little tantrum at not being picked is a good thing, but you get over it and train harder, you don't carry it on and square up to/swear at a coach.

Nice long journey home for him to consider his future...

maybe they feel the need to give there version before the players version can come out

  2. http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/NewsUpdate/0,,10337~2341289,00.html

I hope that this isnt a white wash and we hear the players side of events.

But if the clubs version is untrue, then they will stop the player giving his side of the story. Ive heard a different story than that on the official site. This and it invloved a face to face argument with a senior coach, in which shop floor language was used, nothing more nothing less, which caused a massive over reaction by the senior coach.

from what i hear jones is not the only player to have problems with the bullying tactics of this certain member of the coaching staff most of them do.

  3. Nah - Lee's a RB now. Too much work has gone into him becoming one of the better L1 RB's to then switch him back to CM.

i agree to a certain extent but he went in at rb due to injuries then penney thought he's not a bad player after all and left him in and we know the rest, but he has never had a go cm which is his best position imo.

saying that kieran would agree with you he has settled at rb and is enjoying it

  4. Sorry about that.

On Jones, it seems to me that Dickov doesn't rate him TBH or Alessandra for that matter.

He has brought in succession of young loan players to avoid playing him/them.

We will probably never find out if he could do a job in the centre of midfield alongside Furman.

i agree it seems dickov doesn't rate jones but do you not find it strange seeing as dickov was the one who signed him, something is going on here that we know nothing about.

  5. Large club, doesnt gaurantee 1st team football every week. Ask Neil Trotman

spot on,stephens was bigged up here because he was top goal scorer but to be fair he didn,t have much competition,he has been treated as a big fish here and now will be a little fish in a big pond and is going to have to step it up,he dosn,t have many games to the end of the season to prove himself,he has had some absolute stinkers here this season he now needs to find some consistency and go on a good run.

  6. Jones scored against Oldham last season at Hartlepool and if I remember rightly in one of the games against hartlepool Gregan got sent off for a late challenge on Jones.

Jones has only ever played in centre mid with Stephens and they are both similar players. He has never played in the centre with Furman and you've got to ask yourself why???? Furman is the only holding midfielder we have at the club and Jones likes to get forward so why not play them together??? Is someone frightened of them forming a good partnership? He was brought in as a central midfielder and has never been given a run of games with Furman to develop a partnership.

i,m with you on this one terry you make some very good points,i cant understand why lowe was brought in when jones is itching to get in the side,if lowe was any better then fair enough but he isn,t.the sad thing is jones will probably be off in the summer and we will have missed out on a good player.

  7. Wowzers – we really are evidently that tight on cash-flow aren’t we?

My worry would also be; if we’re struggling in terms of cash flow to pay the players; I’m guessing that the non-playing staff are also in the same boat too? Groundstaff, Ticket Office, Club Shop etc – and that’s not good either is it? The Taxman isn’t usually too far away once these sort of things happen; with other creditors waiting in the wings too.........

It just gets better & better doesn’t it? Typical Latics eh? This season started out as a bit of the unknown, over-delivered as it turns out on the playing side of things, and has then dramatically gone belly up on all fronts – ground wise, cash flow wise, playing side wise..........

The glass half empty in me fears a relegation and admin route isn’t too far away – how do you even look to motivate a group of players on a shocking run of from when they aren’t being paid and the future of the club looks so uncertain??

Critical weeks & months are definitely ahead...........

i also heard the groundstaff have walked

  8. I'd like to see Morais back to making the match-winning impact from the bench like he did v Plymouth and Brentford. I think he's a liability away from home and despite being primarily a winger constantly tries to do much on his own in the middle. I'm convinced accommodating Morais in his free role is killing all discipline and shape within the team, leading us to be caught out time and time again. In fact Morais losing the ball in the middle yesterday, directly led to their goal. Unfortunately, someone like Morais imo will not keep us in this division - the guy's exciting to watch (at times) but despite some good work yesterday he wasted countless good position not least when a cross was on and he simply rolled it across to Ankegren. I'm not witch-hunting Morais, he's contributed to a mostly good season, but I do think he is part of the problem at the moment. Can you honestly say this guy is enough of team-player to dig in and help keep us up?

agree with this he is a decent player but imo morais plays for morais not oldham

  9. Lee has been one of our best performers this season, he is out of contract in June, which means it won't be long before he can go to someone and we get nowt. Maybe we've had sniffings from some local teams, who we know he is more likely to go to thanks to his past history, and to actually make sure we get something we offer him a new deal. We will only be paying him more for 3 months (one of which is May so will only have one game in, and he might not play in that).

Just because we've given him a new contract doesn't mean we aren't skint.

the new contract should start on 1st july

  10. It may be relevant to point out that only 4 of the players who started the season so well were playing yesterday.

Bringing so-called 'better players' in doesn't necessarily mean you'll improve. The whole balance of the team now appears to be missing, and players don't appear to know where to find each other.

Morais is an outstanding player, but giving him a free reign doesn't seem to work. Give him a role as an out and out winger, and we may see more product in the box.

Evina seems to be panicking and hoofing because his easy outlet has gone missing, and the midfield appear to be defending more than attacking, because they just can't be sure where to make the pass any more.

We are no longer a team - we are just a side. Sheridan was slated for doing the same thing, remember?

so true, someone said it to me yesterday we are accomodating players and its not working

  11. So would I.

Who would you have up front, and how much would you sell Taylor for?

who would i have upfront hmm thats the question

tbh if i had the choice i wouldnt play any of our strikers none of them are good enough,if taylor is our asset sell him and try to buy someone who knows how to score.

iknow,i know its not that easy but think back to how many games we have played some good stuff up the pitch to be let down in the final third, time and time again and what affect must that have on the other players, and games when we havent played great but still created chances that our so called strikers squander some absolute sitters amongst them.then i listened to dickovs interview telling us how great reid was how he had watched him and he will be a fantastic addition to the squad so i get upbeat thinking at last someone to put the ball in the net and then reid plays,

well i dont need to say anymore on that one

thats my rant over but if i am this frustrated how must the players feel

  12. Maybe it's something to do with the Jan transfer window and the uncertainty created about the various ins & outs. We looked a tight unit all pulling in the same direction but the usual influx of signings seem to unsettle our squad rather than strengthen it.

There's no doubting the quality of Morais, White etc but we looked a lot harder to beat with Jones & Alessandra in the team.

spot on,morais is a decent player but plays for himself more than the team, white is hit and miss but too much miss for me i would put in jones and alice and go back to the begining when we looked a good side

  13. Why is Jones being overlooked? Surely he deserves more of a chance to play there?

Just because of 1 bad performance at Accrington and 1 dodgy pass against Town shouldnt mean him losing his chance to play

exactly right this is the lee situation all over again constantly being told your not good enough until confidence hits rock bottom, jones must be gutted
