  1. Funny old game indeed FMS It is frustrating Dan to drop 2 points like that, but then it was great to snatch a point back off Leicester, which folks didn't seem too frustrated at. However the Corp has got it bang on, we don't want promotion because we might not do very well in a higher division, we might not survive, but Corp imagine the misery that could be drawn from a survival battle, you'd be able wallow in it.
  2. What recovered ground has been lost then? Shall I be just as selective at choosing my seasons bench mark? So up to say Yeovil we had indeed lost ground with the 2 successive away defeats but at the end of that game with Yeovil we were 1 point outside the playoffs, 4 off second, 5 off top. Now we're 3 points clear in the play offs 4 off second 6 off top, hardly losing ground eh? Anyway nice to see you set the seasons benchmark at 6 games in, when we were top, how logical and utterly credible of you. Lets be honest though when we were top you'd still have been using the phrase "I still don't feel optimistic"
  3. And and even wiser one added, no but you can sprinkle it with glitter.
  4. I just looked at last seasons final table, and it was a revelation. Swansea won promotion by drawing 11 and losing 8 games, but there's more and its even worse. Forest went up, and you'll not believe this hang on to yer hats folks, and they only went and drew 16 and lost 8 !! Bloomin' 'eck I thought if you drew games or lost them that was it, no chance of promotion. Well that's been a rude awakening for me. It's crazy the worlds gone mad, you can lose and draw and STILL get promoted. No can't get me head around this at all. Whatever will they think of next? Right I think I'll go and look at some other final league tables, just to see if its happened before, which is unlikely I know but its worth checking, I'll let y'all know what I find.
  5. Just out of idle curiosity, as one takes a break from getting oneself a life, how have you calculated that we're losing ground Corp? From what point have you taken the benchmark? After 6 games? Or after 13 games maybe after 15 games? Just curious like.
  6. Oh it was the GOB man was it? Really? Not you Coco?, oh ok then what ever you say! As I've said before you seldom disappoint.
  7. You are the same Coconob that told us letting Carlos Roca go was a MASSIVE mistake and it'd come back haunt us? Go on deny it, everybody knows yer never wrong. Davies will be the same, Conference North/South within 3 seasons, Sheridan isn't the only manager to want shut of him, and I'd dare bet that every manager that takes him on as slips down footballs pyramid and wastes his undoubted but latent talent will think that he's the one to get the best out of the lad. Shame really, but there have been plenty of his sort in footballs past and there will be plenty more in its future.
  8. They also wanted to do an interview with Lee Hughes, apparently, but by the time their request was processed by the "press office" Lee had fecked off home although I prefer to think that Hughes took one look at the dodgy cameraman and scarpered!
  9. Splendid, the perennial riposte of the moribund, well done Corp, you seldom disappoint.
  10. Is that adopted over the full 16 games so far this "season", or are we now not counting some of the games, so it suits the argument like. By my very poor maths we've been unbeaten in 12 out of 16 games. All teams have spells of differing form during a "season". Did you post a message on here at the start of the season saying that we seem to have adopted a win one win one tactic? No thought not. If we carry on gathering points at the current ratio of those gained over the whole 16 games we'll get to 80 points, obviously not promotion form though is it. Oh and OaE Wow happy birthday to them then, 40 eh, whipper-snappers, why I remember when I were 40 it was all fields around here, you could leave yer back door on the latch..........
  11. Bit like those who turned up fer Everton/Hudds MIA ever since! I'm sure the TTA have repeatedly said that budgets are set on League revenues only, and cup ties and player sales are a bonus to the coffers. In the last few seasons we've had the bonus, this season we won't, just as football has been for over a hundred years. Thats the way the mop flops sometimes. Btw Lags the drama queens to whom I refer seemed to be very thin on the ground after Saturdays win and no doubt will be again when we get a result this Saturday, strange that.
  12. The minute he signed his contract, or there abouts. Never wanted to be here, had no, zero, zilch, nada interest in this club at all, you don't build a solid foundation with a waster like that, simple as. Ronald is the only manager in 32 years I have ever called for to be sacked, and if by some miracle I live another 32 years I hope he will still be the only one. Chopping and changing managers doesn't work, it really is that simple. Build a solid base, get consistency on the playing side by having a dedicated coaching staff who all want to move the club forward and we might get some where. The current scenario reminds me of the clamour of many experts to demand the removal of Ritchie, which was just as farcical and pointless. As for saying comparisons with JR are way off the mark, no there not. Anyway Coco if you're inferring I was a gobsheite regards Ronnie, well maybe so but we all default from the norm sometimes, trouble is with some people "gobsheite" IS the default setting, but I think you're handily placed to comment on that one eh?
  13. Indeed Eddy, I always site this season 2 November - 11 January when people are moaning. JR didn't get sacked more by good luck than good judgement, as in we couldn't afford to. Good job really as it all turned out. Still that was then, people today would have had Joe hung drawn and quartered by now, they know better cos they listen to the expert pundits on Sky and play championship manager or whatever its called. Anyhow I'll admit to being at 10 of the 11 games in that run, if anybody went to Fulham from these parts, hats off to you.
  14. Now there seems to be a lot of invective aimed at Shez because we've exited the cup. And if one were to believe the drama queens that populate this site one would think that Shez was the worst manager we've ever had. So let me ask y'all a question. If we'd beaten Chelts what makes you think, Shez being so useless in your opinions, that we'd beat Morecambe and make stately progress to that mythical plum third roundtie, you know the one you're all so sure we'd get and all so sure Corney is fuming at missing out on. If, and according to some of you it must be a massive if, we then knocked Erics lot out how do you know the money spinner wouldn't have been away at Home Park for example, in front of less than 5000, because why would Argyle turn up to see Oldham? Anyway dunno if its been mentioned but Swansea lost to Havant & Waterlooville last season and Stockport to Staines and as we all know they got relegated at the end of last season, just added in a reality check kind of way like. Oh and the mope who suggested a "Shez out" banner for Saturday, you a a grade A nob. Yes pointless abuse of another member, but fully justified in the circumstances and if anybody can prove different I'll hold me hands up and apologise.
  15. Isn't it funny that although there are lots of posts from the same old gobsheites calling for Shez to go the poll says different. Still as we all know gobsheites in the minority always shout the loudest. Oh and Cotterill, pmsl, quality stint at Burnley. As for Boothroyd, great if we want hoof ball and Dowie?? Never go back, and that t*** should never be allowed to comeback. He wouldn't anyway he only likes it when he's got loads of doah to spend. I'm amazed nobody has yet championed that sad old fumbler Stan Ternent.
  16. Yes couldn't agree more Dan, its she-ite full friggin stop. Apparently a bloke I know e mailed Hardy and asked about the "consultation". It seems Hardy rang up a few supporters he knows (some of whom sometimes go in the Chaddy) and asked them if they though his idea was good. So Al rings his cronies to find out surprise surprise they agree with him, can't beat a bit of consultation can you? Still thats 2 cup games we've been forced to move, 2 we've lost, coincidence I think not!! Did you notice that the players chose to run to the empty Chaddy End before the kick off, even they knew it was plain wrong to shut the Chaddy. It was disappointing to go out, but at least its given the drama queens on here another chance to spout off about Sheridan.
  17. Yes! the give away was in the sentence that contained the words "dealing with the agent"
  18. Shez said on Sky the other week that he tells the board who he wants they do the deal (in terms of contract, wage, dealing with the agent and so forth), maybe he's "sold" Latics in terms of the playing side and what the coaching staff want to whoever it is and now SC/AH are trying to finalise the deal, or not as it seems. He made a similar comment about Byrne, he wanted him to stay, but a deal hadn't been worked out, he didn't know why and didn't want to talk about it. So maybe Shez isn't the ditherer in these deals as some would like to promote. Just a thought.
  19. That BT is the best philosophy, and there are plenty of other things to do too, even actually doing some work! Read regularly but then "whats the point" comes in to play when thinking of replying. I kind of started thinking like that somewhere during the run of the big un on JKL, which is contradictory in itself isn't it? Post on there when most folks were thinking why do they bother, hmmmmmmm.
  20. Yeah very decent, in fact I'd make the bold statement that this bunch looked collectively the best youth team I've seen, in 20 odd years. We've had some good ones in the past, like the one that got knocked out in the quarter final in '96. That team had some skill and some grafters, this team looks confident composed and comfortable with and on the ball, we out footballed Rotherham and did it the right way. It was also good to see the young lads listening and responding to TP and his team and interesting to hear them all use phrases that we've all heard Shez TW and Dux use too. Like after a missed placed pass TP told the player to "take care of the ball". If that's the case it can only be good for the club, to have the same ethos from top to bottom on the playing side is important isn't it? Clubs with continuity seem to rise upwards, at our level though that takes time and patience, commodities sadly lacking it seems in boardrooms and terraces these days. Anyways well done to the lads, and good luck at the barcodebastards.
  21. So entrepreneurs and successful business people never do anything on the hoof, they never act on impulse? If and it’s a big if, an if so large it’d just about squeeze into the Grand Canyon. If SC had previously expressed a dissatisfaction in the way in which the management staff on the playing side were performing and there had been no improvement then surely a pissy little public outburst wouldn’t be the way to react. Surely previous dressing downs by SC would have been enough to “concentrate certain minds” and if they hadn’t surely Shez, TW maybe even Dux would now be down the dole signing on, because I can’t believe for one minute Simon thought, right the warnings haven’t worked, lets do a video Al, that’ll learn ‘em! Are we really to believe that this public outburst was a Machiavellian plan, fiendishly devised and thought through with a concise analytical business brain? A cunning plan to expose Shez to the realities of his tenure and really show him that TTA mean business. FFS do me a favour. I mean when the video first hit the ether the general consensus seemed to be congratulatory towards SC, not because he was the ace business man with a plan but because he was showing his true passion, and was therefore reacting like one of us would and letting rip with both barrels. Simply venting his frustration. That’s the truth of it, that’s exactly what he did, that’s exactly why the clip has now vanished from the official site. I suspect SC will be wishing he’d not done it, for exactly the reasons some of you state, he is a business man, a very successful one, like the man once said. “I didn’t get where I am today by ………” Huh huh like he said donut huh huh huh”
  22. Yeah I knew that was there. I couldn't remember if I'd posted it last year, after the demise of JKL. So I checked meself. Can't just leave it at that, new post each year!
  23. Have posted this for the last 10 years now.Its a day late, couldn't log on yesterday, sentiment remains the same though. Wasn't going to post it as I'd missed the 11th, but as Dan missed it. In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
  24. Yes cos I couldn't log on from about 10.45, tried all day, finally got on at about 5.20 but then had to leave. Had contemplated doing it this morning instead of missing, this would be 10 years since I first did it.
  25. I just read a short thread "Shez" started by Nik, was going to add a reply, it gone, there were some replies, did I imagine it?
