  1. Am I missing the point here? Some talk of the playing staff needing to be "professional" yeah I couldn't agree more, but owners and CE's should show a modicum of professionalism too, instead of posting a video online that was more Beavis and Butthead, than Managing Director and Chief Exec. I don't think meself that TW is whinging or whining about being bollocked as such its way they have chose to do it. Shez, TW and others have been in the game long enough to accept a dressing down for what it is. If employees in TTA's other business are not performing do they get a public bollocking, or do TTA call in the department head to get the hair drier treatment who then passes it on, in private to the errant worker. Just because its football and SC is passionate like a fan it doesn't make the actions right, the feature was ill thought out embarrassing and simply made the club look foolish in its unprofessionalism. It stikes me that successful football clubs don't look like that. So SC your passion for the club is brilliant, your cash keeps the club alive and long may you be here. You have every right to say what you think, but say it inside the 4 walls eh? Lee Hughes for example did need a slaughtering for the silly yellow card, he more than anybody else knew he was wrong, we as fans knew he was a tit, you were furious, fine just have a pop in private, we don't need to know.** Some things are better left in house, so with respect in matters like this shove a donut in yer gob Simon. ** Well I suppose some do, the sad hollow eyed saps who seem to thrive on the merest morsel of gossip eminating from BP, those who feel the need to know the ins and outs of a cats arse at BP on a hourly basis.
  2. Predictable response from the club. In fact when the final whistle went on Saturday I said to MrsS that I bet they'd shut the Chaddy. Now thats fine, went to the Morecambe game sat in the RRE, which only served to re confirm what I already knew, its she-ite for watching football from, in my opinion. But no problem reduced admission prices made it understandable the clubs need to cut costs on the night, fairly do's. This is the FA Cup, they are charging full whack, so forgive me and mine if we're a bit miffed at not being able to spend our hard earned dosh watching from the stand we enjoy supporting and watching our team from (nice to see Edward has missed the point, again, by the by) the stand we coughed up same hard earned to buy season tickets in. Thanks Mr Hardy, just wondering if you used the same fan consultation that saw us play an FA Cup semi 200 miles away, when there was no mass fan outcry to so do? Oh and superior facilities in the RRE, my aris.
  3. FFS DW if you're going to insist on keeping the KtF motif at least abide by it. Book your holidays betwixt and indeed between 8 & 24th of May. No play offs required round these parts, trust me and more importantly KtF
  4. Well spin my nipple nuts and send me to Alaska, why the hell didn't I think of that, brilliant call that Coco. As ever.
  5. Great rumour, must be true, because it came from "within the club". A rumour I heard, well not so much a rumour as Shez saying it himself, in person like! He selects people he wants to bring in, tells the board and they do the rest, negotiations with clubs, players contracts wages etc, he doesn't get involved, not his thing. Then yesterday says he wanted Byrne to stay but nothing could be sorted and he wasn't going to talk about it. So that poses the question who actually does the dillying and more to the point dallying. Oh and if Davies is cup tied it hopefully means that the lazy self centred not half as good as he thinks he is waster is on his way out of BP. Pity because he obviously has talent, just not the ability to release it.
  6. Thanks chaps, I thought it was just me. All thats left to say now is Q.E.D.
  7. ** Awakes from lurking hibernation** So do ST holders and pay on the dayers in the Chaddy not finance the club in any way Edward? Surely if we'd all moved from the Chaddy in the close season the club would have lost money as the ST's in the RRE were cheaper. Away fans seem easily policed now, and those that are on coaches get put straight back on them, how would the club save. I understand thats away fans in the Chaddy is a non starter anyway the Licensing Authority and the Police won't have it, they knocked the club back when they asked a few years ago, or so I was told. The Chaddy is obviously great and fine for all of us who chose not to be seduced by the "great view (debatable) , great sound (big wow) , beer available (big WOW)! Perhaps Edward, people chose to stay in the Chaddy because, and this is an immensely radical notion, they actually enjoy watching the team they support, from that end, which has got balls all to do with moving the club forward. Thing is if by some form of Halloween magic a bran new Broadway Stand materialised overnight and people could move in for tomorrows game there would be 200 Latics fans at the most in the RRE, and that's a fact, trust me. I'm really happy for you Edward and for all the others who've blathered on ad nauseum about the awesome RRE, its great I'm really glad you're all enjoying it but I and a large proportion of Latics fans who still use the Chaddy are enjoying the season too, you do you're thing....... get it? Actually though like Diego I wouldn't trust your opinion any further than I could throw Big Gordon. Maybe its time to give this tired hackneyed old debate a rest? Just bothering about watching Latics and enjoying the good start to the season, from which stand y'all think is best for YOU and just YOU and let everybody make their own choice on how to spend the old hard earned eh? ** Departs to lurking hibernation**
  8. Correct DS, there are non live versions by the Specials that are fine too. I think what Francis did was to play it at the first couple of games, but really low so it couldn't be heard, and it was really hard to hear. Then he could say it didn't catch on and just play the same old :censored:e that he likes and is played all over the country at loads of grounds. It was pointless the club organising a vote really, but predictable result from Mr Ward.
  9. Great find Mr Sideburns. I were in the CE that day. Dunno about the fella getting battered tho, if you watch the clip when Leicester score there are quite a few of their lot in the main stand paddock, most at the CE corner. I could only remember 2 things about that game prior to watching the highlights. One was Darren McDonugnuts volley which I always recall as being from inside our half, its not though. Also at the end there was quite a lot of Leicester on the pitch and as we were making our way out of the Chaddy on the car park side a large group of them set off right towards us, I can remember thinking "ohhhhhhhhhh shhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttttttttttt", but all of a sudden our lot on t'other side of the Chaddy started singing "c'mon Leicester" and Leicester turned as a pack towards the other corner of the Chaddy! There is loads of room on the RRE, sold out my aris. I remember Bolton filling it, in '78 when the capacity was 30000 or so and the official crowd was given as 22000 or summat daft, the ground was packed solid, where another 8000 would have gone is anybodies guess. Other than Citeh (but that was the later fenced in RRE) can't think of anybody else filling it, not even Manyounighted in the mid season friendly (ies?) we had against them in the early 80's.
  10. Not everybody in this world is like you tho'. Not everybody has the inclination to register no matter whether it takes 5 minutes, 5 hours or 5 days, its that simple really. Somebody once told me they read what took their fancy on JKL but didn't register because some of the stuff they really disagreed with, but their work situation meant that they couldn't afford to be sucked into debates, and once registered the temptation would be there. Now thats an extreme case but surely there is no harm what so ever in having this forum unprotected so that the wider world can read what Latics fans are thinking, and the bulk of Latics internet fans at that, this being the official voice of us all. Just a thought.
  11. The only problem with that HS was when the escort evaporated or was none existent, a couple of 'em I recall. The Barlows getting bricked at Stamford Bridge on the road that takes you back towards Earls Court, not a Copper in sight and being frozen on one where some Reading scrote actually managed to smash a window. Although fortunately not sat in the immediate vicinity of the icy draught it was a long cold drive to Warwick services tho' to pick up a replacement coach.
  12. Thing that gets me is why does one have to sign up to merely read the board? You don't with oafc.co.uk you didn't with JKL. I fully appreciated the need to register to actually interact on here, but why isn't the main "official" Latics forum, sanctioned by the club open to the wider world? Surely the views of the main Latics mb aren't so secret they have to be hidden away. Its often interesting to go and read the views of teams we have or are about to play yet unless I'm mistaken OWTB precludes this. I know a few people who would never in a million years want or need to post owt on any MB but were always browsers and lurkers on JKL, not every Latics fan wants to interact, but I bet there are many who'd "graze" if the opportunity were there. All that said maybe its just me, maybe you can view without logging in, maybe I'm doing something wrong?
  13. Things that stick in my mind from Odsal were, the pitch being like a stale piece if bread with 4 curled up corners. Don Goodman being permanently offside (this being at a time when JR said we didn't play the offside trap merely condensed the pitch) and it kicking off after the match, depending on where one parked one's car, it may have involved a fraught journey back to it, I think InspectorMorose may fall into this category. December 1991 ZDS Cup vs Sheffield United - Yes February 1977 vs Liverpool FA Cup 5th round - No December 1969 FA Cup replay vs South Sheilds - No December 1974 vs Man Utd - No any pre season friendly in Sweden/Norway - No that time Latics played Bradford City at Odsal Stadium - Yes October 2004 vs Brentford - No September 1980 vs Sheffield Wednesday - Yes February 2005 vs Bristol City - No November 2001 vs Barrow FA Cup replay - No Shouldn't 9393 be on that list too?
  14. I'd have thought these people would have been coming to BP and football in general to know these seats were right next to the away section, they must have know what it would be like. Stewards, yes they can be over officious threatening jobs worths, when its an easy target, like a small boy and his dad. When they are actually needed to take up a more pro active roll, ie getting Millwall to sit down etc etc they are found wanting. Pay and conditions are obviously poor, nobody puts a gun to their head and makes them steward, do they? Big :censored:ing wow. See what I did there? Yes OE I get that the club would be asked to make a statement by GMP, but they, in my opinion have got the tone of the statement wrong.
  15. Silly me the police forced the club to write such a tactless ill thought out statement did they? Nothing to do with the folks down at BP? One does ever so apologise for thinking that they had any part in it at all. One also apologises for having the shear temerity to criticise the club, golly what was I thinking. Oh and sorry he is the Chief Exec, isn't that where the buck stops? Obviously not? Tricky questions are moved on, and in your case action at the next game wasn't forthcoming and in mine the minion denied anything had happened. Nothing to do with the head honcho then? Good call by the way Help Shiny
  16. No and even if it was the case that said camera had been found safe and sound at home, and had been there all the time I simply wouldn't and couldn't believe it.
  17. Can I just ask the ever so prissy Garcon and Senor Coconob if they ever break the law? I mean do you ever park the car where you shouldn't, do 31 in a 30 zone, steal a pen from Argos, you get the idea? Cos that'd be illegal, and golly gosh we shouldn't do illegal things should we, I know why don't you guys lay on buns, cakes and lashings of jolly ginger beer so everybody can have a smashing time next home game? I can't believe people walked out because of swearing, I can believe they complained to the club, I bet there are a tiny minority of them and will be the sort of twee person who thinks that swearing is in some way a lack of education or verbal interest and quite honestly are :censored:ing lunatic. From my view in the Chaddy there were acres of empty seats, just move you deeply sad people. Can I also add that the response from Hardy, and it will be him behind it, is typically bonkers and over the top. I said to me Dad on Saturday about the obvious heavy handed tactics of stewards on Latics fans and why was nothing being done about Millwall? Obviously even with mass backup from GMP are still the same gutless spineless :censored:s they've always been. Several years back there was a similar invective from the club about racist remarks and that any culprit making such remarks would be ejected. So next game some knob stands up in the middle of a block of herberts in the Chaddy and sings "stand up if you hate Pakis" 4 or 5 stewards witnessed this and the only action taken was to smirk! I mailed Hardy, nothing to do with me I'll pass it on he replied. So then Chief Steward replies, it never happened, he lied. He had the gall to tell me I was mistaken! Why did I bother to complain? Well a few rows in front of me there was a wee boy with his Dad, obviously his first game ever. Mum had obviously packed his rucksack up and as he sat excitedly eating his crisps he took out one of those tiny cans of pop. Did the stewards react? Oh yes very heavy handedly, result one sobbing little lad and angry father. I asked why they could be "roughed up" by the yellow coated ones, yet the gob:censored:e in the middle of all the herberts escapes rebuke. Guess what the second incident never happened either. That was the answer, I was lying, making it up and ok it was before TTA, but Hardy is still here and many of the stewards too, particularly those that strut about with walkie talkies. Its got nowt to do with owt except that I expect you chaps in the RRE will be on a hiding to nothing all season. :censored:e thoughtless statement from the club, if you want a happy clappy backy slappy family club just say so change the name of the ground to Enid Blyton Park and the rest of us can all :censored: off now.
  18. I think he/they turned out in a few reserve games, Gumbs looked no bad if I recall. I think we couldn't sign them because St Kitts & Nevis are ranked on FIFA's sliding scale lower than the Dog & Duck third XI. This coupled with the fact that we were in the third division (old money) meant that a work permit was refused. Had Mr Gumbs wanted to play for a Priemiership team I'm sure he would have got one, I seem to recall Mr Hardy tanting as much at the time.
  19. Chortle ! Thats me told then, I shall henceforth consider myself a non "football man" whatever one imagines that to be. As for the full package, well one mans full package is another mans lunch box, a lunch box neither you nor LL could afford darling. maybe its my respected member, in one of its various guises. Oh and Garcon, watch the holier than thou eh? I detest folks who feel the need to post mindless "watch you language" digs, usually referring to the swearer as stupid or lacking in vocabulary. So tell me Garcon which language is it you want people to "mind". The Queens (gawd bless her) language shall we say as defined by the OED? Shall we immediately ban some of the finest texts in English Literature then?
  20. Wow I'll bear that in mind, thanks for the stunning advice. "Full package" eh??? Quality, you couldn't make it up. Oh and OS I shall use that as my mantra as I heroically squeeze the last drop out of each and every hypodermic.
  21. Well my little bit of this here discussion is based on certain types sneering at others! And I don't particularly agree that a vocal crowd results in a better game, in fact that comment is utter tosh gibberish and nonsense. I've been watch Latics long enough to know that large vocal, or even smalll vocal followings do not necessarily gee up a good performance, simple as.
  22. No not vexed DW, and not likely to blow any gasket Mr Takemeanywhere, words just trip off the keyboard when replying to some of the mind numbingly stupid comment posted in this thread. Right I'm off to round up some old codgers and in a Shipman like styleee put them out of their misery. Thus the "old codgers at Latics problem", curse them and their flasks, will be over for ever. And non-singers, don't even think about trying to hide, you're next you evil worthless bastards.
  23. Ah well here's a solution.... Us sub human low lifes, you know people who don't sing and clap for the full 90 of a she-ite mind numbingly dull game or for that matter old codgers should be banned from watching Oldham Athletic FC, only all singing, all clapping, happy slappy types need ever go to a game again after all its your club, you all own it I mean you all sing for every minute of every game and have done since time in memoriam, big :censored:ing WOW. If I wanna go to a football match, and this is radical, WATCH the match I will do, if I wanna sing I will do. Who the friggin hell are any of you to sneer and look down yer nose at any other Latics fan. Anybody who turns up to watch Latics and pay their hard earned home or away is a Latics fan, we don't all have to conform to a singular type. Stick that up yer arse and smoke it.
