  1. Yes he did BP but my post does say someone other than Gardner meaning at the minute there is a lot on Gardners shoulders in that midfield and I think he needs help. I rate Gardner but he is struggling on his own, I think dropping Baxter into midfield with him would help the team no ends. Perhaps my post wasn't too clear when I read it back. You are an experienced and well respected chap, what is your take on the midfield at the moment and how could we improve it with what we've got ?
  2. Spot on mate, I fully agree with your reasoning here. Bunn should know well enough about swashbuckling football and may remember how we used to concede goals but score more, that was our style. That is great to watch but we don't have the players for that or the team isn't ready to go all out attack. We are grinding out results and holding onto leads, not pretty but it is working just now. Will have to change that approach as we get more games under our belt but for now we are doing Ok without setting the world on fire.
  3. No just by moving Baxter into a deeper role could help us link play a little better. Whilst picking up points when not playing too well is a bonus, the chances of that carrying on are slim.
  4. Good call. Midfield is crying out for someone other than Gardner who can put his foot on the ball and keep hold of it, someone who can make that link to the forwards. No point having him up top if we are playing long to o'grady, although he works 100%, I think a different style would suit us with what we have got.
  5. It wouldn't you are right. But we could also carry on picking up points whilst not playing the best football on the eye.
  6. I believe some posters just want a reaction and are on the wind up. I have bitten recently and I should know better. I want us to win every game and although I know we won't, I would never back against us. It's having pride and belief in your team. I can't see the point in being negative about the club just now, it won't help, it will only make things worse. Bunn and Rhodes have earnt our support because they love the club. We should be positive towards them and in turn they will want to succeed even more.
  7. People with opinions that are black and white are usually being quite defensive without even knowing. It is difficult enough dealing with this type of outlook in a professional setting but in a social settings this can cause even more frustration and negativity towards a positive response.
  8. Ok pal alright then. I still think you are a acting like a tool by the way, some people just don't deserve respect. So you know I'm not qualified do you ? I could be more than qualified to advise you of what to write or say, as you put it. I'll not respond to you in future but hope you learn to allow other posters their views and opinions.
  9. Your supposed to be an Oldham fan, so be one and stop acting like a sheep following the other tools who post shite to get attention or a response from other fans. Grow up you feckin tool
  10. Just as I suspected, can't respond without a dig or insult. Don't debate if you are only willing to hear your side of it.
  11. They are no Milligan & Henry lol Sack Bunn he's just someone who used to play for us years and years and years and years ago, long before time begun. I agree that Byrne would be a great and needed addition to our not too talented squad but not if is heart or head isnt't with us. Its not madness if there are real issues with him and he would be detrimental to the team. Its sad that this is the situation but it is, Bunn is doing the best with what he has got, and in my eyes they have made a great start considering. Perhaps some on here need to show some respect towards the club and other fans, always look forward but don't have the narrow mindedness to ignore the history of the club, good or bad, and what that history has played in some of our lives. I support the club because I was born into a family of supporters who go back long before I can remember who told some wonderful stories of huge crowds and great teams. I can tell stories of the pinch me years and earlier, those days are gone but I will never forget. Thats why this club means so much to me and other long standing supporters. Thats why I am not on here every single post trying to find fault or shooting someone down who has the balls to say, things really aren't that bad because its football. It goes round in circles, history has shown that, so on that assumption I always believe at some point our fortunes will improve and some sort of success will come our way again. Then the younger fans will have their own stories to tell and may understand where us older fans are coming from.
  12. Back in far west Cumbria, Been up since 4am, worked till midday then drove down through Cumbria behind every fecking tourist and tractor Arrrrggg. Anyway Myself and my other half had a great day out in sunny Morecambe watching us get a win on the road. We have won and we have made a good start to the season, I could find things to criticise about the team and the performance but when I really think about what has gone on at the club these past few years and all the negative press, I will refrain because I feel that we will move forward and start repairing our recent past. What I have taken away today is a feeling of unity within the team and management, it wasn't pretty at all and we could quite easily have lost that game, but we didn't and to see the reaction of the team, Bunn, Rhodes and the fans at full time was a very pleasing sight. There felt a nicer atmosphere among fans too which was pleasing. I can see we haven't got the most talented team but we have a mixture of hard workers, experience, youth and a couple of players who could make a difference once fully fit. There is no denying this is a poor league and we will play poorly at times but still win games. Onwards and upwards hopefully and hope all latics fans got home safely.
  13. I'd be more than willing to see him given a go, hopefully he could change my view. I want whoever plays to do Well at the end of the day
  14. I'm not saying your wrong it's all opinions. I've played football all my life and always preffered a packed midfield rather than a two.... stifle the play and win the ball back by forcing mistakes and then have a little more quality on the ball when you get it back. I personally don't rate fane but I understand why some would.
  15. It's not lost on me pal, I fully understand the concept. Imo he is poor because I feel he is a liability on the ball and in the tackle. I would play Gardner and Byrne if available with Baxter behind a young fresh forward. So sort of a 451 system focussed on getting the ball forward quickly
  16. Absolutely no logic in having a player who breaks down play and wins the ball just to give it away because he is poor in possession gives it straight back. I would rather have two more technical midfielders with a Baxter type in the number 10 position working with a surridge / Lang type up front.
  17. Err, easy drive on a Saturday lunch with all the contractors from Sellafield making it a rat race in their works vans and me in my brand new Beamer, I'll give Corney fell a miss, cant damage the new motor !! Why is there no bridge across the bay, would make my life easier !!! Saturday will be different than tonight, Latics roared on by 2000 tics, 3 points and a good weeks points haul. Touch wood.
  18. Cant wait for Morecambe now, driving down from west cumbria fighting bloody bank holiday tourists slowing our roads down !!!
  19. Good point, move on now and win at Morecambe.
  20. My missis just said " put the laptop down while you have your tea " WTF........ not a chance woman !!!!
