  1. I'd draw the line at signing shuker..i hate the little sod!!! Granted a good league 1 player, but i've never liked the little dwarf one bit.........one of my favourite rants at oppsition players was aimed at shuker vs the bin dippers last season, he copped that much from the lookers paddock during a break in play that he swapped wings, then got subbed off! loved it!!
  2. Nah thats NATHAN DYER who's been done for being a tea leaf with young Bradley Wright, LLoyd Dyer is currently pulling up trees with MK Franchise Dons, sweet left peg and bags a pace - me likey!!!!!
  3. I forgot stam and thompson on my effort - Stam to be kept as a squad player, get rid of tommo for me, bye bye mr injury!!
  4. GK: Rob Elliott (from Charlton Res's)[but Nash would be nice too] RB: Neil Eardley CB: Greegs © CB: Ruuubbbes LB: Stuart Giddings (for a free & if fitness can be proved, then great) RW: Chrisy Taylor LW: LLoyd Dyer or Jay Simpson from Millwall CM: Fabian Yantorno (yeah like the sound of that!) or Cox from Brighton CM: Mark Allott CF: Hughesy CF: Alessandra Subs: - Macca (quality squad player, worth his weight in gold) - Jarrett (if he'll sign as a squad, not starting player) - Craig Davis (will be quality as a make the difference player we've been crying out for) - Smalley (see Macca) - Lomax (as above, but slots straight in if Giddings doesn't sign) - Norm (as back-up & coach) Squad: JP (if he'll stay as squad), Black & the kids (Kilcourse, Bell, Chambers)
  5. Is this REALLY true?? he was released on Monday, there's a story in the press up there linking him to us, then this thread appears that he's here and has signed? we've been here before on rumours like this, and have always been disappointed when they turn out to be balls. Though i, like a fair few on here, have been looking at the info on him that's available on the internet, and if it is true, then thats our creative midfielder sorted for next season!!!!!!!!!!
  6. That's a great post oafcprozac, really good points made. I'm with you on the whole In or Out Shez thing, i see no benifit in a knee jerk sacking, as has been stated many times, managers need time and clubs need stability BUT.... Shez has made plenty of mistakes in his time, more alarmingly, he doesn't seem to be learning from them either - the same farce 2 seasons running in the transfer windows being the main example. For me Shez has another full season to deliver a sustained, successful promotion push, ideally with a little of the the Trotman money being given to him to bring in the 3 or so players we need to turn this side with 'potential' into a side that can challenge. For me, SHEZ IN for another chance...........
  7. I've signed him on FM 2008 for us and he's pretty darn good on the game, him and Macca have brought me nearly 20 goals between them in league 1, season 2008-2009!!!!! I know its only a game, but his stats on that, and on the the Gretna website, plus the back-dated articles on sky sports from earlier in the season, give the impression of a potenial quality signing. I wonder, as has been said, if Mr Murry has been singing his praises?? Guess we'll have to watch this space in terms of any moves for him, but at least it appears we're looking at different options for next year, other than loans from Sheffield Weds!!!!
  8. "hence the raids on 2nd division reserve squads".. There-in lies a massive problem, we're getting players in who aren't match fit by doing that. I realise there are the issues of 'taking a gamble' that will involve a fee on a, say Stuart Fleetwood, but at least when they arrive, they can hit the ground running fitness & match sharpness wise, instead of the 'Jarretts & Leon's 'we've brought in, who have arrived lacking both fitness & games. I simply don't belive you have to look to 2nd division reserve players to add quality & competition to your match day squads, there is nothing wrong with looking down too - that was my main point!!
  9. I think Shez has made a fair few mistakes this season, as i expected him too, as he is still learning the ropes as a manager. He is definately not the finished article, far from it actually, but, if this season goes the way it now looks likely it will (i.e. no promotion), then at least i would hope Shez will learn from it. My main gripe with him and his staff (i include Tommy & Dux in this too) is in transfers: there seems to be a worrying reactive mentality about all our loans/signings, to me no proactive moves are made - we have a injury, we stall, mess about, um & argh, fuss, miss out on other players, then at the 11th hour someone, hell anyone, arrives. We've missed out on so many good championship, Leauge 1 & 2 players who would have made a real difference to our side as we haven't got in there first (proactive!!). Also, Shez always seems to look upwards for transfers - when in the leagues below (league 2 and the blue square) there are (or,more to the point, were!) players who would be great additions to our side (Glen Murray, Stuart Fleetwood, Chris Zebroski etc) - he seems to think that to add quality he needs to look to the prem or championship, and IMO that simply isn't the case. I hope lessons have been / are learned from this season, coz with the right activity in the transfer market, in the right areas - then by adding to the core of this teams & with this bunch of youngsters we have, we might just be able to finally get us out of this sodding league!!
  10. Same for me, though Lewis ran him a close second - thought he had a very good game too, but Macca wins it for me
  11. I've been gutted with Stam's recent form. On his day, with his confidence up and his fitness fine, then Stam looks a classy CB, poss too good for this division. On a bad day (of which he's had for the lions share of this year, Everton and Carlisle excepting) he is an error prone accident waiting to happen. Personally, its obvious that when Gregan is back, Stam will be the one to make way for el capitano - leaving a promising CB duo of Ruuuubes & Gregan, we only saw a brief glipse of this before Greegs got crocked, but for me it the best on paper we can put out now! I doubt Stammy will be offere terms at the end of the season - his poor form & awful injury record will have seen to that i think
  12. I've voted Allott, just been superb so far, as some said, i can't really remember a bad game, he's either been solid, excellent or simply superb.......can't believe he isn't wearing the armbarnd to be honest, but hey, i'm not the gaffer am i?? Hazell is SIGNING of the season by a mile, free transfer, very good lge 1 centre back, and has shown he isn't a bad stop gap right back to boot....kepp it up Ruuuuuubes
  13. BP1960 - as i've gathered from reading on here, you are/ were a scout in the professional game - if you've seen this lad in person and think he's got potential, then is there any harm in letting the club know your thoughts?? if your background holds much clout, then surely they'd be more inclined to listen & act on your thoughts, than those of fans like me who base there opinions on decent signings from sky sports football / football manager / internet....etc If he's in the blue square prem and is 17/18, then i'm sure if the wheels were put in motion, then he'd be keen as mustard to come up for a trial at a coca cola league 1 club and see if he impresses.....
  14. That's good news as far i'm concerned....young Kelvin has NEVER let the team down when he's stepped in, on either flank. And this season he's come in and done great as an attacking left back....i like him, he can tackle, can defend, comfortable on the ball with either foot and is a ball player to boot, good news this!!!
  15. I have sent my version of the above response onto the comprehsive mailing list: I wish to register my full support for the revised outline planning application for the redevelopment of Boundary Park and the adjoining land. The initial decision of the planning committee to turn the application down was nothing short of a travesty, investment in this now much dilapidated borough is few and far between, so it beggars belief that a committee of elected councilors, who pertain to have the boroughs best interests at heart, can throw out the application against the advice of appointed government officials. The swell of public feeling, not just attributed to Latics fans, must now surely show to the planning committee that they made a most grave mistake in turning down the application. It is my hope, and that of all Latics fans, and sensible residents of the borough too, that the second amended application will be approved, not only for the good of OAFC, but for the development and regeneration of the borough as a hole. So far, had a very positve reponse from Cllr Hibbert, and 3 rather poor 1 line group send messages from Cllrs. Beeley, Dillon & Shaw. Still awaiting a respose to a seperate email i set to my Cllr Wheeler - though from comments on here, i'm not holding my breath in terms of a personal reply!!!!!
  16. I think that's a great idea, start at therebuilding and walk down to the ground....get the local press involved and generate some media on the subject great idea.......i'm in
