  1. I'm definately going to miss it - don't think next season will be same without my usual seat in the lookers paddock. Hightlights for me definately include: Tranmere a few seasons back when a lad threw the ball back onto the field from the paddock, and caught Gareth Roberts square on the nose - did he not like that! (got his own back when his cross was converted for an equaliser in time added on, ran up the length of the paddock to give some back to us all who'd give him some grief!) The guy with the really loud, but really high voice, who sits over to my right and his same old, same old greeting to the linemans...."afternoon Lino, welcome to BP, hope you're better than the plank we had last game"...every week!!! Walsall 2 seasons ago, their captain, Craig Pead having to listen to 45 mins worth of the section of the paddock i sit in shouting "PPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAADDDDDDDD" in really high pitched voices - such a simple thing, easy banter, but it got to him and he played pish!!! And years ago, in the Roger Palmer testemonial, Colin Hendry putting 3 successive balls over the Upper's roof, to the cry of 'just a Scottish Donkey@ Great stuff - going to miss it all!
  2. I voted in the 'over 1 million or not at all' as there wasn't a stand alone "DO NOT SELL" category. I cant for the life of me understand the reason Eardley gets so much grief from so called latics fans.....from my vantage point of the soon to be no-more Lookers paddock, i lose track of how many 'bloody hell eardley' calls i hear per game, it astounds me. Neil came into 1st team football at a really young age (17) and must be now approaching his 100 game marker for us (sure someone will correct me on that though ). Rightly or wrongly, he has been captain for the most part of this season, and has, in places, played some super stuff. He now looks a better bet than Liddell for penalties, his shot is sweet as you like, and his crossing, whilst still can (and will i would think) be worked on, has improved no end this season - as it has had to as he hasn't had a right midfielder / winger in front of ALL SEASON!! With a regualar RM / RW in front of him next season, the real Neil Eardley will come to the fore - the one that is deemed good enough to be playing International football, the one who has had Premiership scouts watching him, the one who sports papers & 4-4-2 magazine dub as 'a bit special' talent wise.......... I think sometimes some of our supporters need to have a dip in the reality pond - Eardley is a very, very solid League 1 fullback, with the potential & talent to go much, much higher thean the level he is at now..... Selling him right now would be a travisty - he is exactly the type of player we need to keep hold of, build a side around the likes of him, Taylor, Lewis, Smalley etc - and see ALL their values rise.........Eardley has to stay for next season, those that want rid of him need to have a look at themselves as far as i'm concerned!! Mini rant over!!!!
  3. Here here. Hope they all get fixed up & can continue in the game in some form....think the club is doing as much as they can for them, circulating their details to other clubs and entering them in the trialist showcase game(s) at Sheff Utd. I caught my 1st reserves game of the season on Monday night, and i thought that Rory Winters & KC Owen looked good prospects - i know that opinion is based on 1 game alone and that the back room staff work with them all year, but still, i saw something in them vs Man Utd.
  4. Miller?? No way! He was on his a/r/s/e so much he needs studs on it! Plus his hairstyle was rubbish too!! For me, attack-wise, Cox from Brighton & Alex Revell (who was Brighton, but is now Sarf-end) impressed me.
  5. Go for it lad and hopefully live up to your words. Saying all the right things in his interview, i'm just pleased we now have an official Phsyio team - its definately something that has cost us this season, not replacing Lee Nobes wise. Happy days really, well thought of a Warsaw, been at Grimsby & Dirty White S/c/u/m (we'll let him off for that!) - hope he makes good on his promises and starts to weed out these annoying muscle tweaks we've had a sodding season! Good luck Mark!!!
  6. Just seen the photo of the lad, Ivo, on the other thread, that was indeed the Number 8 who played for us last night under the name of Denny Bergmann.......he didn't show anything that would warrent another look IMO, as i said earlier when i thought he was called Denny!!! Now Danny Wellbeck on the other hand, ooh i'd love to see him in a latics shirt next season, he looked absolutely mustard!!!
  7. Chris Eagles. Deary me. Pair of Ronaldo's hand me downs on his feet. Alice band in his hair. Sun bed tan and hands that never seemed to leave his hips. Repeat after me "I am not Ronaldo". I thought that too, what a tart with how he looked.....but......he showed some really good flashes of his ability too, his disallowed volley was a sweet strike, and he ran at our defence readiliy....... but if you played against him, you'd have to boot him for his chosen image of Ronaldo wannabee!!!!!
  8. Number 8 = Benny Bergmann. No better than we have already, my dad said ' like Kalalla only slower' and he's not wrong. Number 9 = Edwardo Jesus. Played up front, fell over and dived a fair bit, but showed a few flashes, not worth another look IMO Number 11 = Rodrigo Diaz. He looked ok actually, i'd agree with Jonny Punkster on that, worth a bit more of a look. Played left wing in the first half, then went up front after Lewis went off at half time. I'd say a tad light weight though which may be an issue. Of our young lads, i was impressed with 2 in particular, Aaron Chalmers (who played CB and not in midfield like he has done for the 1st team) & Rory Winters (who played right back and looked good) Of there's, well, as said above, they don't have any world beaters coming through thats for sure. Chris Eagles looked too good for that level, and i was really impressed with there lad up front, the big coloured lad, Danny Wellbeck. We could do a hell of a lot worse than getting him here on loan next season. Big, pacey, skillfull & got a decent shot on him - he hit the post & caused a bit of trouble for our defence. And as for the ref - well - if that was a penalty, then i'm the king of England!!!!
  9. Cox from Brighton impressed me when they came up here, ran the game did the little lad, and Wes Morgan had a stormer for Forest when they came here too, i'd love to see either with us next year.
  10. Me & my mate are going - then onto Milton Keynes afterwards for the night out - should be a top weekend!!!! Oh yeah, the 3 points would be nice too
  11. I'm not his biggest fan, far from it, but i think we've missed him this season, Eardley & Taylor in particular. Eards looks(looked) more comfortable with Liddell in front of him, offering an outlet ball, and constantly talking to him during games (from the paddock you could hear it all the time!) Taylor benifited as we had an attacking option on the other flank, so everything didn't have to go to our (not a) left winger all the time, play could be stretched and space would open up for Taylor to get into as and when. I think its a good thing if he's offered another year on a lower wage (with some rational pay as you play add's) - even if he's not a nailed on starter, he can / will make a difference from the bench - just like he did vs Swansea.
  12. Hmmmmm........rehab in Hibs 3 million pound training complex and play first team SPL next season or.......use chapel road & the JJB Gym and play league one for us.......it's a difficult one isn't it???? Add him to the list that currently holds Diego, as internet legends who actually never play for us - AND MOVE ON TO THE NEXT TARGET!!
  13. The speed dial to Sheffield is ready and waiting then??????? I, like Coco, have heard that before............but i guess we'll wait and see eh, excited to see who comes in though....we've already got 1 in if the Fabian rumours are true, that's a start!!!!
  14. I thought both Lewis & Smalley looked really promising players in the home pre-season game vs Sheff Weds - and guessed they'd feature as last 5-10 mins sub's when we 'were comfortable.' As its turned out - with all the injuries, and the fact that we've never actually been 'comfortable' in any game this season, they've both featured far more times than I (and i guess Shez too) imagined [smalley in particular] That can only be a good thing really, as the experience gained this season will hopefully stand them in good stead for next term - they'll be a year older, wiser & more battle hardened (a must in this league!) As for Deano's best position, i think its obvious that he plays best as a right winger - when he's been out there, doing what he does best (running at pace at scared defenders) he looks a real prospect. His ability in the air can't be overlooked from that position either - i've lost count of the times that goal kicks & free kicks are aimed out to our right hand side looking for Smalley to get the beating of short full-backs. He needs a goal, preferably at home, to really raise his self belief, as i think that's a bit of an issue with the lad......one i don't think our young Lewi is lacking in from what i've seen!!! Next year, with some key additions, and a core basis of the kids (Lomax, Eardley, Taylor, Davis, Lewis, Deano, Black, Bell etc) i think we'll be there or there abouts [hopefully!!!]
  15. John Harbin @ the club, major work of flexibility, speed & stamina = minimal injuries resulting from muscle pulls / tweaks etc No John Harbin / possible flaws in the training regime at the moment = the worst sequence of injuries i can remember, a large number of which are muscle pulls etc. A MUST for the pre-season is a re-evaluation of the training methods we currently imploy, and a hunt for a PROPER full-time physio, because we can't afford another season as bad as this one injury wise.
  16. I'm pretty happy with that all told. Leon know's the score, he's playing for a potential transfer tomorrow, play well / score etc and we win, he's with us for a bit longer.......the opposite and he's off over the hills to sit in their stiffs. If that happens, i'm more than happy for Lewis to see out the rest of the season up top (fitness / injury allowing). All interesting stuff, a fair few are playing for deals i would think from now until the end of the season......all the more strange that Livermore went back to Hull (thought he'd be playing for a deal, not sitting on his bum and 'avoiding' injury!!!)
  17. So, would any of our seasoned 'reserve scouts' on here take a punt on either Lino or Bradley then for next season - have they shown enough....or is it thanks but no thanks?? Oh, and these South Americans, is it a definate that they've come to us through Wadsworth, or is it a 2 + 2 = 5 after he was spotted at the Millwall game??
  18. T'was a rumour in the January transfer window i think, nothing in it according to my Bolton mate though!
  19. I want at least one Eygypian, an Angolan & a Peruvian in our squad next season, to go with our trumped South Americans & Portuguese......plus we already have a Dr Congo already with us!!! ooh check us out, multi-cultural Oldham in action at BP eh??
  20. 11 in league two eh?? Hmmm, haven't we got Wolfy that could do that!!!!
  21. Hmmmm, we're being linked with alot of players at the moment, and the season's not even over yet.....haven't heard much of this lad like, anyone seen him play??
  22. Football is unbelievable sometimes..........just out of the play-off picture, 5th round of the FA Cup, been in charge for less than a year......yeah, boo, sack him, get rid. Stupid, just stupid. Hope if we don't make the play-off's, the same knee jerk reaction doesn't happen to Shez. P.s - anyone think we could find a role for Stich in our set-up? would he come if asked??
  23. Best - Everton away 2nd Best - Leeds away 3rd Best - Carslile home Worst - Monkey Hangers @ home 2nd worst - Luton @ home (their tactics wound me up something rotten & we couldn't beat them, annoying) 3rd Worst - Swindon @ home (1st half in particular) joint 4th - most of our home displays this season really!!!
  24. Mixu is the answer to everything! Hero! Is that you in that Number 14 shirt Alan?? really looks like you!!!!! Is Mixu a relative or something??
  25. Money for Eardley though it will be peanuts. About 150K I expect Release: Taylor (I know it won't happen, but if I was boss it would. It would in fact happen tomorrow). He is shhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeee. Also: Gregan, Kalala, Thompson, Stam, Wolfy and a handful of kids that aren't going to make the grade. if Hughes was a lame horse the owner would shoot him. So, we need loads, but I have no idea who. Behave Derek! If we were to sell Eardley, which personally i'd be really dissapointed if we did, he go for more than Trotman did, i'd imagine in the current climate transfrer wise we'd bring in £600,000 to £750,000 - alot of teams will be looking for right backs this summer, as the transfer merry-g-round kicks in (Leicester will be down 2 right sided defenders if the rumours of Steaman & Mattock leaving are true just for example) Also for releasing Gregan, Taylor & Hughes, you really are on glue aren't you?? Gregan has been missed this term, he is our captain and one of our best players when fit. Taylor is a really good league 1 winger, with hard work & progress, he could be a really good championship one too. Hughesy - he's shown when he's been fit what a force at this level he can be - fully fit with a pre-season behind him, he'll surpass Porters tally. If we're to believe you Derek, we might as well give up now for next season eh? I think with a few key additions into the areas we all know we're short in, then we'll be there or there about next season!!
