  1. I don't have a problem with chanting, it's not a little verbal sparing though, seems like they spend more time abusing the opposition and our own players than getting behind the team. It's cringeworthy and stopped me going to games for a while.

I think you should be allowed to stand as well but you can't and stewards have to do their job.

standing briefly to start a chant is acceptable and should not be a problem imo.

  2. I already have, the problems are still there though.

I don't get it Macca, if the young supporters want to try and raise the roof with chanting and a little verbal sparing wirh the away supporters what exactly is the problem? I for one think that it is great and should be embraced, not subdued by the stewards!!

  3. I think the fans can be just as bad if not worse. Particulary next to the away fans for example. They have a negative effect on me. Anyways back on subject...

When fan/s, is trying to start a chant, is told to sit down I do think this has a negative effect on the matchday atmosphere. Plus mate, if that one area bothers you then, I hasten to add, perhaps you should move seats.

  4. dont think its tacky just dont like the font of the text. too much of a contrast from the badge. looks like its two different t-shirts put together. maybe play with the text a bit and it could be popular specially with the kids

Perhaps I was to blunt in my appraisal. For me, the text is to big and in the wrong place. Happy to have the badge splashed across the front of my shirt but not the other way around. I think, if anyone, it would appeal to the younger generation.

  5. Here is my take. I don't think we can win the league and unless things go drastically wrong I doubt we will not be in a dog fight either. It really could go anyway from as high as 2nd down as far as 20th imo. Depends on injuries, players form, the manager etc. I do think we could sneak into the play-offs but it is really to early to call. ask me again at xmas!

  6. No problems with this, and once I know what i'm up to next week, I'll probably take him up on his offer, strange that he didn't contact me on my AOL account - which is the one I have registered on here with.

    Hi Paul

I think I am right in assuming that you post as oafcprozac on OWTB.

If this is not the case then please accept my apologies.

However I have read the posts from oafcprozac recently and am concerned about some of the criticism the club and me personally have received.

I would like the opportunity of having a chat with you over a cuppa and discussing some of the points you have raised.

Let me know what day is best for you next week and I will look forward to meeting with you at Boundary Park

    Many thanks

It does seem the club cannot take criticism in any form, anyhow i'll put something together and go and see him in my own time. In the meantime if anyone else has any questions they'd like me to put forward in person, now's your chance!

What ideas/thoughts does the club have in mind, besides ticketing offers, to increase matchday attendances? i.e the matchday experience!

  7. This season Boundary Park has hosted Notts County, Yeovil, Shrewsbury, Bristol Rovers, Bournemouth and Leyton Orient. Everybody calm down. We've got some tasty local fixtures to come, which should put that average up, including Rochdale, Wednesday, Huddersfield and Southampton.

I'll bet anyone £1 that average attendance in league games this season is more than 5,000. First come, first served.

I'll have a piece of that. Deal!!

  8. Barry,

I don't always agree with some of your posts but, on this occasion, I thought you were spot on. I don't agree that "those at the top" have simply given up and i'm sure you're all doing your absolute best to put things right. It must be a thankless task, especially when your read some of the utter negative crap spouted on here. I was on here late on last night when you started this thread and, if i'm honest, I don't give a fig about your spelling / grammar / eyesight, I have absolutely no doubt that you're giving it your all. A big thank you from me for caring so much about my club, even if i'm in the minority...

It is alot easier to care about the club when you are earning ££££ to do so!!!

  9. Not for the 3 teams we've played we're not. I asked you to check, but you didn't bother. We are the grand sum of 13 fans down on last season. In total for the 3 games. Anyone who thinks Orient, Gas and Yeovil we going to be big attendances is deluded.

In 2001 we averaged under 5k, a saturday crowd of 4095 v Bristol City in Sept; 3496 for a mid-week game. Pick a year to make a point.

Our crowds have dropped back to the doldrums level, principally due to last season.

So our average attendance figures for 2001 are almost 1000 less than this years average figures - with is currently around the 4k mark! Thanks for making my point  BTW, I have watched latics for 25 years and I know from 1994 our attendances have gradually dropped. I'm also willing to bet that if attendances for this season continue then we are in for our lowest numbers since 1994. You really are grasping at straws!
