  1. tha man gave a brief interview on talk sport tonight

he didnt give much away other than he realised the importance bp was to many fans and if i heard it right there might be a little spot for something or other that could be built into the proposed from bp

so the question is what part of bp would you like seen removed from the ground before the bull dozzers move in and laid to rest in the new arena

mine would be the turnstile doors on the broadway side going into the chaddy..been goin through them for 40 years..

they must have been there before i started goin in 1969..i cant remember them changing them

perhaps they could use them as bog doors or something

i will even take them off and sand them down for them if they want

what would you like to see in the new ground

  2. Apologies for calling, and for you being, sober. It seems to me that speculating to achieve now is crazy if the ambition is to go higher than the Championship. The odd team from there might have a crazy dart into the top flight and enjoy a season getting hammered every week, which is just what the Bristol City fans were looking at the other year, but to build now for a stay in that division is frankly lunacy. We might manage to punch our way around the Championship, that would be an achievement (and is where we still are naturally given when I was a kid).

you see,,this is total negative thinking....you say we are no bigger than a championship club, but if the 4 clubs i mentioned thought like that then thats were they would be now...ask tta were they see the club in 10 years time and there can only be 1 answer,,,at the top....any other thinking then you are stood still again and you are drawn into negative thinking...

come on lets follow hullcity, stoke citys ,wigans dreams and think positive

  3. Burnley are a classic example of over ambition. Used to be a huge club in the 60's and then decided to improve the stadium drastically, they ended up in the lower leagues of the football league only to return to the Premiership this season 45/50 years on!

they only built the 2 new stands recently(3-5 years ago)because they had a clear vision were they wanted to be....premiership... and i guess the capacity will be around the 20000 mark and it will be packed to the rafters every other week...im guessing they will be kicking themselves now for not doing the new stadium thing a few years back with 25000-30000 capacity which they could easily fill...and they were not much bigger club than what we are now

  4. Actually, if we were to double our season ticket holders in our move to the new stadium, would that not be classed as progress. And why wouldn't we survive in the championship year on year? Burnley have done that for the past TEN years (what's their average? About 11,000?) The times they've filled Turf Moor to its capacity in the last ten years hasn't been so many.

10,000 Tics every week in the championship IMO would be enough to sustain Championship football. Not Premiership mind, we'd need a few more for that.

but i bet burnley wish they had a bigger ground now

  5. Sorry Wakefield, but I had a similar thought to Prendy when you mentioned the Premiership before (the difference being that I would rather you passed it around rather than stopped it). We were battling against the odds when we got into the top flight before, these days Middlesbrough can go down from the Premiership despite having a near-billionaire Chairman who spends his money pretty much like you or I would if we owned Latics. I will never say never, but planning for us being in the top flight is evidence of either late night beer-posting syndrome, or having been dropped on the head as a baby. I guess the former ;)

hey im sober and just look at clubs like bolton,,hull,,wigan,,stoke...all no bigger than us a few seasons back

u didnt see these 4 clubs build 12000 stadium,,,,they all built big before they went up

  6. by the time the new stadium is built we could possibly be a premiership outfit

then what...and dont just say make it bigger to meet demand cos all that will take to much time and an enormous amount of revenue will be lost

cheaper and wiser to do it now

and all you lot who keep saying and when we are a championship club....is that it...do we stop there forever...cos once tta get a taste of the championship then they will be craving for the premiership......like me

  7. Let's say that we make it into the Championship (and I sincerely hope we do!).

Football League rules guarantee 10% of stadium capacity to away fans. That means that we'd have 10,800 seats to play with if needed which, is more than enough in my opinion.

What about all those lovely away fans we'll be turning away? Well for a start, on the majority of matchdays we can always allocate them some of the 10,800 home seats that undoubtedly won't be filled. Even if the sold out signs go up once in a while, is the lost revenue really going to compare to the extra capital required to add 4,000 / 8,000 extra seats? Say we were to lose out on 4,000 extra fans in a quarter of our home games, it would probably take 5 years of this happening before we made the initial capital outlay back.

Provided there is flexibility to increase, I don't see the point of building a 16,000 / 20,000 capacity stadium that's going to be half empty for the majority of games.

Now, if the plans we're to be scaled down below 12,000...

its the premiership im thinking about

    think big mate

  8. Why are people getting off on an immediate negative stance about "only 12,000" on what I consider to be a phenominal opportunity to see OUR club both survive and prosper.

We are currently struggling to get 5,000 Tics to any home game, the ground wasn't even full last season for dirty Leeds when we were going well, it won't be full against Stockport and it won't be full against Exeter, even if we are top of the league by 30 points.

Imagine the atmosphere if the ground was ready for this season for the home game with MK Dons on Tuesday the 29th of September and the ground had 25,000 seats, roaring atmosphere ????? (I think not)

Before anyone starts to lambast the proposal, take a step back, realise TTA's have stuck their necks on the line once AGAIN for OUR club and are proposing a great future.

As Mr Benitez stated last January, "lets deal in facts".

The facts are there may be contingency plans to extend the new ground should success come our way, TTA's aren't stupid, they will have done their homework before this statement was released and not every single item on the agenda will have been discussed, such as ground extension, bars, catering facilities, parking etc, etc, etc.

The fact is BP is in a worse state than Freddie Flintoffs knees and this is an amazing opportunity to take OUR club forward, not settle for Division 3 or Division 4 football.

Please, please please ALL Tics fans, back TTA's and

    K E E P T H E F A I T H

im totally behind tta ,,thats why i dont want them to make a huge mistake at this critical time..

im not looking at this season or next or the next 5 seasons...its the long term future im thinking when our boys are in the prem....so what if theres only 4000 at home to walsall next season in a 20000 season..

at least we will be ready and raring to go when the inevitable happens and we are back in the prem..

last thing we want is going on a good end of season run in the championship,,getting promoted to the prem overnight then saying,,,oh :censored: we not got enough seats for this....can a 12000 stadium be made into a 20000 stadium between april-august?

  9. im sure there will be room to improve as and when we get bigger crowds, but when we are barely getting 5000 this is sensible and understandable,

if we get into prem we can look at developing stadium, and im sure they are going to build it so its easier to redevelop in future

which the club will get nailed for with a huge bill...

a 12000 stadium would not create enough revenue to run a premier league club

no matter how many pop concerts and so on are planned

  10. FINALLY!

This announcment has been too long in coming. But I suppose good things come to those who wait. Boundary Park will be sorely missed, but only for its memories.

As for it being in Failsworth before anybody starts.......who cares? It's still in Oldham it miles away from Manchester, I'm from Waterhead side of town origanally and I have no problem with this move whatsoever. Further more, limiting the capacity to 12,000 is a good move. We barely get 5,000 now, so even if we make the Championship I can't see that improving much more than 8-9k.

Here's to a bright future for OAFC. :drinking45:

it was my understanding tta were looking to the future and hopefully not letting the club stand still like it has done for the last 15 years...so you got to aim for the top and no way will this stadium be big enough....man u,,,city,,,liverpool,,,everton, will all fill the stadium themselves

    20000 minimum please simon
