  1. The Willbutts Lane stand holds 3,650.

But the OS says we have only got 3200 segregation restrictions me thinks.

I think £15 isn't unreasonable either lets face it. It created a massive buzz on here when we found out we were playing Rochdale and we all had an eye on the League 2 play off final anticipating a derby next season It will be a big crowd certainly the biggest Dale will have before Christmas anyway.

  2. i think im right in saying hillstones the shirt sponsors paid 250k for 3 seasons worth of advertising.

so its nowhere near the commercial value of a lotof other clubs.....its time the club looked further affield for sponsorship now....yes companys everywhere are tightening there belts, but in the advertising sense 100k a year to sponser a clubs shirts isnt really extortionate is it.

maybe with tta's buisness being in america they could try and tap into that market, get some american firm some exposure over here....

Thats very true however as has been discussed and stated Hillstones have paid up for the year so we will be wearing their logo other sponsorship might need us to look that bit harder as you say.

  3. really. im talking about using the fields to farm, not paying farmers all over europe to keep fields trim. im talking of self sufficency in food for everyone, not paying nigerians 2p a bunch to grow tulips in a marquee. im talking of my hatred for globalisation and i shouldnt on a football board!! too many people 'dont do politics' without realising how much it really does affect them.

Fair enough if you are not for globalisation your entitled to your opinion. Although while it has its faults it seems to be the only way that works. If anyone can think of a better way they will become the greatest politician/economist of our time.

  4. no we wouldnt, see my earlier answer. i find it staggering that people can interpret the club saying they may be forced to look for other ways of raising money as to mean offloading two reserve players! we are a selling club, we sell somebody every 6 months or so for a few hundred grand in order that we lose a bit less than we would otherwise have done.

The money that we would lose in revenue from Horners could be offset by offloading two reserve players. Which would mean we would be back ontrack with TTA's financial forecasts interms of a budgeted loss for the year. I didn't say it would raise money and it obviously won't as if kalala or wolfy goes they will not command a fee.

  5. If selling star players for something which affects the "short-term", thus affecting our long-term future, then something is clearly wrong with the mentality amongst the club officials. They're acting as though we're some Blue Square Premier side, when in fact we're a decent League 1 side. There are plenty of other sponsors.

Every company is tightening their belts though and are less willing to sponsor. I work for a very large well known media company our share price and advertising revenues are falling because people are spending less.

  6. im glad its happening this country has had its head in the sand for far too long. say what you like about anything but if there were still hundreds of working farms in the rolling hills of lancashire then bread, eggs, milk and meat wouldnt be rivalling petrol in terms of percentage price increases.

Really? we pay out a hell of alot to farmers in terms of the Common agricultural policy More farms equals more funding to them result higher taxes. We might pay less interms of food in the supermarket but it would just go out the other way interms of tax.

As their would be less houses the prices of them would be even higher than they are now. Which means that people would have to borrow even more money for mortgages and developments.

  7. No matter what the greedy MP's tell us. Inflation is not 2.9%. Real infaltion on essential items people have to buy is over 10%. The club will not be able to hold prices down next season.

In all honesty it depends on what things you buy regarding inflation obviously at the moment things like fuel and food are rising above the average. The club have said what price the ticket prices are going to be next season and if we enter a recession I can't see them putting up the prices mid season at all people will have less money they won't be able to justify it.

Rudemedic - Sky pay the extortiante fees for the rights so that they can sell the premier league abroad. They know the Premier League has a high value globally. We have been talking about clubs at this level having to go part time or to the wall aslong as I have been watching football and like all the other clubs at this level we have been making a loss in that time yet have still managed to survive.

Dont know if this has been discussed but i think if things keep going the way they are with rising prices etc it might hit our gates even more so than last year. im no expert in economics and what is going on in business at the moment but its obvious most people/families are in for much harder times than before.???

The credit crunch and impending economic slowdown will have an effect over the next season it depends on the levels of unemployment really. But not as greater an effect as people choosing to watch other teams on Sky in that sense its not too dissimilar to other seasons really. To be fair to TTA regarding the price of going to Oldham this is the 4th season in succession where pay on the day prices have remained the same.

The impact of the economy is going to be most felt by the Stadium development and how many property developers will be prepared to take on the residential development as banks are becoming much tougher on lending money to people through mortgages and lending to developers to take on new projects. Result being that this stadium development may take longer than was first hoped and hit TTA in the pocket personally. Although as we haven't heard otherwise we must assume that the new main stand and residential development will go ahead as scheduled

  9. *Latics fans in fickle scapegoat-making shocker*

Don't you understand LL...he was the worst ever Latics player because he didn't chase every single lost ball. His flick ons were rubbish and to noone...it was never Craig Davies' fault for going walkabout and not having the intelligence to stand somewhere, anywhere, in the middle of the pitch rather than out on the flank (he's not a forward, you know). You must have been somewhere else when we played Walsall at home...showed that day what an awful, useless waste of space he is. Not to mention the fact that Stefan Stam's dog's brother's owner's aunt who saw Deane Smalley's mum in a sandwich shop said over a tuna and cucumber barm that Rico punched her Deano in the face.

Maybe it's time to resurrect the Official Michael Ricketts Appreciation Thread.

Yeah it was all the fans fault we are worst people in the universe so what was his excuse at Southend, Leeds, Cardiff, Preston, Middlesborough, Bolton, and Walsall. The guy couldn't play for 90 minutes he just got knackered which for someone at 28 is poor to say the least.

He won an England cap and he thought he was gods gift perhaps it all came abit to quick for him hence why he is just another player who had all the talent to be at the top but none of the heart to do so he is a waster in my book.

  10. was looking at the stats last night....

in just over 40 games he scored 6 times.... twice in one game alone!!

    not a bad return really!

Not bad for a midfielder when you consider what was Richie Wellens highest goal tally for a season and he has been consistently been one of the best midfielders in League 1 for the past 5 seasons. Not that Wellens should be remembered as anything less than a good player for us but it goes to show that Ernie did have something about him skill wise He could find the back of the net. Ernie would be the type of player who would arrive in the box to get on the end of a cross think his goal against QPR which I'm sure was his most memorable.

" My aim is to get psychically fit , even that would be over achieving, but we all have a dream"

That sentence brings a tear to the eye.

  11. Ernie made his debut in "The rose bowl". I think when we play the game next as a "pre season friendly". It should be renamed.

The next game between the clubs is different as its a league cup game. But Ernie left a bigger mark on the "rose bowl" than any other player in memory. I think it would be fitting.

That would be the most fitting tribute to the great man.

  12. Well I saw Paddy McGuiness buying a big screen telly at Richer Sounds in Prestwich on Tuesday with his ladyfriend who was rather easy on the eyes. He then got in a big black range rover and started talking on the phone before setting off whilst still on the phone!!!!

And this has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

Really! Well I saw a slim line Johnny Vegas walking into Granada yesterday you could just tell by the look on his face he knew nothing at all about the new stadium development or for that mattered cared and I didn't ask him which must mean we are moving to Ashton!
