  1. Ticket now sold. Cheers for the interest and comments gents.
  2. I've just found that its becoming a chore, every other saturday seems to roll round with the inevitable dread that I have to go to BP and watch Latics get beat / outplayed by teams who we should really be better than. I've seen 2 relegations with this, coupled with 17 years in this god awful league, with only the occasional glimps of light at the end of the tunnel. Credit were credits due, Corney and co saved us in our darkest hour, but like any relationship that goes sour, I think the time to seperate has long since come and gone, meaning we're at the current junction were both parties have lost interest.
  3. Thought I'd offer seeing as some of you poor souls are paying £20 a game to get in :S
  4. New stand, near half way line. Works out at £6.81 a game for the remaining games, which is about spot on value for whats on offer. Im genuinly selling this by the way, not just a cheap dig at the team.
  5. He'll be playing on a sunday for Harry Bunns team Saddleworth FC.
  6. How'd he get on on Saturday ? Any notable moments ? Any early impressions as to if he's gonna be better / worse than Broady ?!
  7. More tits here than the fantasy bar by the sounds of things.
  8. Conor Sammon looked like Luca Toni last night against Tarkowski & Mellor. Very naive defending, couldn't read his movement off the ball, and he frequently found himself sitting between the 2 of them - with neither of them taking accountability for him. I like the idea of having 2 ball playing centre halves, but at the end of the day, we need Cliff Byrne (or an experienced centre half on loan - unlikely) in there with Tarkowski (who by all accounts had his worst game for a while last night). Going forward we look like a championship team - the problem being defensively we look like a league 2 team. I'd say we'll have more than enough for most teams in this division going forward, but until LJ bites the bullet and either brings in Byrne or even moves Grounds to Centre Half (Mellor to LB) then I can see us being on the end of as many beatings as we give out !!
  9. The money from the liverpool game was funnelled straight to the contract for Baxter, with the idea of selling him on in 12-18months for a sizable fee, so I imagine he'll be gone in January at the latest. *source was a friend at the club.
  10. Never really been one to gush about players or management, but if anyone was worth it - Tony Philliskirk, take a bow. In modern day football, fans / tabloids plaster people as club legends for anything (Matt Smith for instance), but yet, for people outside the club, Tony Philliskirk is probably just another Caretaker manager. I can't speak highly enough of the fella, having been with the club through the good and bad times (mostly the latter), he's always there when the chips are down ready to help out. Not many people would do what he's doing - managing under 18s in the morning then taking the first team in a massive cup game - always comes across as a class act, keen to do whats best for the club not just what might be good for him. I'd be happy to give him and Paul Gerrard the job FT, but respect to Tony, it might be out of his comfort zone long term. I do think though that in the coming years something should be done to honour him and his efforts, rare we'll ever find a servant as loyal as Tony.
  11. No mention that he tried getting a group of ex players to sue the club for injuries caused because of the plastic pitch though........funny that.
  12. Is that the same Andy Barlow who's currently coaching the Under 15s at Uppermill ?!, step down taking the managers job at latics is that.
  13. I'm guessing we'll lose by an innings and 185 runs to those pesky scousers.
  14. Curbishley wouldnt touch us with a barge pole, nor would Keane or Ince. I dare say our best option would be someone like Ritchie, a decent manager, who plays attacking football and could add a few hundred onto the gate every week. Cant see the board going for Sheridan again, booze culture and that.
  15. Who's realistically available to us ? Who's good enough from those available ?
  16. Firstly, having heard the line-up and formation en route to the game, I was instantly put on the back foot. As a home game against a team, who frankly, are no better than we are on paper at least, we need to be setting out with the emphasis on taking the game to them and pinning them in. Secondly, warm ups, it appears that all ours are based on neat, passing and movement, which is all well and good, and its a sound approach to take, however, watching Stevenage, they had a simple "piggy in the middle" game, then moved to a drill which was around working the ball out wide, laying off and having men attacking the ball in the area, whilst working the goalkeeper. This is something we need to work on, we're over passing, our play needs to become much more direct in the final 3rd, not to say long ball, but at the current rate we need 2/3 touches to get a pass out wide, with a futher 2/3 touches before looking to cross. FINALLY - THE GAME / DICKOV As we all know, Simpson, never a target man, credit to Stevenage, they know we're a passing team, so they pressed high, closed the space and limited passing options, meaning we where left to playing long balls up, which inevitably came straight back at us. Tarkowski - As much as I want the lad to be a success, his confidence is shredded and frankly, I think some time on loan lower down the leagues might sharpen him up. Byrne - never a right full back, lacking in technical ability, much better to pair him with M'Voto and bring in Brown @ RB. Taylor / Smith - 2 words. GAME TIME. Both of these lads need to get games under their belt. We need to be looking at working the ball forward, getting it wide, 1 touch - cross and let a player like these 2 attack it. Either that or Slew or move Montano uptop and get Hughes on left mid. That at least would draw defenders in and leave some space for Simpson to pick up any knock downs. Personally, I think he's over thinking things. 2 years ago when he first started this job, we'dve been having players overlapping, creating space, working shooting opportunites, now I think that he's trying to keep us tight at the back and focusing on ball retention. Unfortunately, I cant see this changing, and i fear that this will be PD's last season, im not calling for his head by any means, but I just think that in football things will eventually run their course and this seems to be the case with this. To sum up, very poor, confidence already low, especially that between GK and back 4. More attacking options from midfield required to support striker(s).
  17. At the end of the day, for every latics fan that doesnt go, there place will no doubt get filled by a Citeh fan, simple as that, so it'll be £15 in the coffers either way. Same thing cant be said for the Birmingham game, £10, if wouldnt pay that, seats would go empty, id rather take my chances with the MCFC game. I expect the Euro players to be involved in some capacity, no doubt 30/45 min cameos, but id still rather see Mario Balotelli & David Silva make a cameo appearence than Darren Ambrose & Hayden Mullins play for 90 mins. The club will be the winners out of this either way, ideally with latics fans going down to watch, if not so be it. And if you boycott the season over this, then all you're going to do is harm the club, so in a few years you'll be able to boycott supporting nobody as you wont have a club to boycott. Good work.
  18. Moving from Valencia/Barcelona to Oldham is DEFINATELY a change of heat.
  19. He's not resigning. He's moving south to be near his GF & kid, I heard this off someone who works at the club incase you wondered.
