  1. Does it count as on his way? Pretty much walk out of the city ground, over the bridge and he's there! Doubt he'll be signing for us.
  2. I'd be interested to see the figures on season tickets. I've had a constant season ticket for 12 years so the prices above the gates mean nothing week-in week-out. I quite happily paid £25 to see us play Liverpool/Everton last season (Cat A Game?) but I wouldn't want to see categories returning. I wouldn't mind an extra £20 on my season ticket, those prices have been frozen for years also. It's psychology though, my benchmark at the moment is £20 each for two hours entertainment at football. Compare that to the cinema for two (£25 including drinks/popcorn?), going out for a meal for two (£25-£50 depending on where you go) or bowling for two (£10?) and increasing the price of footie rapidly becomes one of the more expensive hobbies. So when does not being able to afford going out for a meal once/twice a month start conflicting with football three/four times a month? Edit: that £23 for the RRE, I'd pay more purely because there is a bar available.
  3. Huddersfield piss me off more than anything. They have three times the number of season ticket holders we do, we take 1500-2000+ every game at the galpharm, they bring between 600-800 to BP.
  4. Then I guess we'll never know. Wonder if Cardiff stayed over before THAT game...
  5. If its proven that players perform better after a good nights sleep rather than 4 hours on a cramped coach (still can't go for a jog or a walk, despite luxury!) then regardless of 'darlings' - sports science (Paul Butler, eat your heart out), comes first.
  6. I actually think we could win that division, or at least be in the top two/three consistently. Yes for me.
  7. Totally agree, he will be a massive miss and we won't be able to replace him like-for-like. Optimism dies when you think you've got to start Wes and Smith instead of Baxter and Smith. Disagree about this, part of Dickov's downfall was that he didnt have a :censored:ing clue where to play him. Playing him as a second striker didnt work and it took him too long to realise that and he upset the balance of midfield when he dropped him back. If anything I think LJ has found a very good balance to the team and from what I have seen, Baxter is playing better than he was last season. He just seems to have more freedom.
  8. Silicon tape on the bats eh? Sounds unlikely, but plausible. Sounds like a job for the mythbusters.
  9. They normally have spares in the club shop so I'd ring them but if its anything like the pies they'll have run out.
  10. Sorry mate, but I think you are slightly outvoted.
  11. "I'm happy to provide a day's social media training at a bargain price of £800 a day and will come by car so we can start on time." Quality. The thing that pisses me off about this is that there has been no trains from Shaw for about two and a half years. The trams start and they have been cancelled due to maintenance every weekend for about eight weeks. What the actual :censored:? The line is brand new!
  12. Best man on the pitch tonight regardless of his history.
  13. See above. Edit: no worries. I can't dont see Cliff as the big dominating CB we need. Yes he could play there, someone mentioned Gregan, I'd have a player like that in there. Someone with a solid ten years or so in the championship dropping down.
  14. Couldn't disagree more, Brown had one of his best games in a latics shirt.
  15. I thought this a few times but quickly dismissed changing it when I realised we don't have any height. Maybe when JCH or Rooney is on the pitch we could send it up, but that's not conducive to LJ's footballing mentality. Derby closed us down well when they realised that was our tactic.
  16. Agree, the Lino on the far side didnt have a clue about the offside rule either.
  17. Derby were controlling midfield, I felt we went to 4-5-1 with the three of them across midfield. Wes was supposed to give us greater numbers but failed. I'd like to see Rodgers come on instead. For me, probably a very expensive squad player. As said above, get rid and bring in an EXPERIENCED defender. Sorry, I don't want a 19 y/o from Forest/Liverpool. I haven't worked it out but I think the average age of our back five is probably about 21 - we need a 31 year old lower league old style defender, if only for a season.
  18. He was excellent for me. Good going forward, did well in defence. As I say above he was almost like a wing-back and that gave Montano/Dayton the opportunity to move inside if they could. He looked solid in defence but did leave Tarky exposed a couple of times when he went forward. Totally different player than early last season.
  19. I agree with this, they held the ball well and closed us down very quickly not leaving us time to play football. A championship side can do that for 90minutes but I can see a lot of league one players getting very tired if they tried it against us. Edit, don't know how that other post thought Brown had a bad game...
  20. Connor Sammon. I think he epitomised the difference between the two sides tonight, kept running all night, had a phenomenal work rate and backed up when he had to. We had a great first half and should we play like that all season I think we'll be treated to some very interesting games. Looked really leggy and ran out of ideas in the second half, but I also put this down to Derby's work rate, they didnt let us settle on the ball and man marked well. Either way, not a bad game for us, lots of positives. Mellor had a few clangers, some he recovered well, some not so well. If LJ persists on playing him though, it is all good experience. Connor Brown was excellent tonight, he was playing almost like a wing-back at times during the first half and he wasn't afraid to go forward. I thought Baxter played well as playmaker in midfields but I though Smith held back and was a little quiet at times.
