  1. Couldn’t agree more. It’s Ripley over Placide every time for me.
  2. If we stay up - and I’m reasonably confident that we will do - then the owner needs to ‘push the boat’ out to secure Doyle permanently and hopefully Conor Ripley as well. Johnny is a liability I’m afraid. Not just because of the Portsmouth game, that mistake has been coming for a while, but generally he just isn’t in the same league as Ripley. I think that with a new goalkeeper, a centre half (or two), a midfield tackler, and a centre forward, we will be a lot better next season.
  3. Bore off! Yawn Yawn Keep your opinions 4 you.
  4. I stick by my opinion that some people on here aren’t happy unless they’re moaning. It’s boring in its predictability. Yawn
  5. Spot on! Stability is what’s required. He’s a young manager finding his feet. Give him a proper chance for gods sake!! Im sick of the negative people - so called supporters - on here. And before any of you respond by saying you’re being realistic, NO you’re being negative. Some of them aren’t happy unless they are moaning!! Get behind the manager, get behind the team and hopefully we can move forward with a bright young manager. Next season he needs an experienced assistant, someone who isn’t going to pack it in after 2 minutes. He can get in some decent new recruits and mould his team to the way he wants it. At the moment he’s learning as he goes along. Give him a chance!!!
  6. Just as a matter of interest, what did you think of Fanes performance yesterday?
  7. Omrani, Mouache, Menig to name but 3 that haven’t exactly covered themselves in glory. Nothing wrong with foreign players who are better than what we’ve got. Sub-standard ones though are a waste of our wages budget.
  8. I disagree, I think he’s usually 7/10 when he plays, but his versatility means that the manager is likely to pick a specialist full back or centre half rather than someone who ‘can do a job’ in either position.
  9. Placide Dummigan Bryan Gerrard Moimbe Gardner Fane Pringle McLaughlin Davies Nazon I think he will have Byrne on the bench today. Both he and Pringle were looking to play the same role last week, I think we only need one proper playmaker. Jack hasn’t quite been ‘at it’ yet since he came back. Pringle hasn’t impressed me at all yet but RW might just want to give him a chance on his own today, plus he must be getting more match fit now. Worth a try. Especially if Jack is on the bench.
  10. Nobody is saying that he isn’t knocking down and getting on with it. Now you’re guessing!! What I took from the interview was that he was indeed pissed off at missing out on the two players that he really wanted, and I got the distinct impression that it wasn’t down to him but down to others at the club. Only my opinion.
  11. They are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Personally I think Wellens - compared to Shez - is much more open in his interviews. It might be due to him being new to the job and it might show some naivety on his part. Some people will always look to find fault though no matter what is said or not said. I hope he carries on the way he has been though, it’s refreshing to hear.
  12. Not a guess if you watch and listen to his press conference. He said that we could have got Matt Mills if we’d offered him an extra year. This is a player that Barnsley clearly rate but we wouldn’t do the necessary to get him. He also said that we could have got Devante Cole if we’d been more aggressive. Obviously what that means is open to debate but I saw it as a thinly veiled dig at the hierarchy and moneymen at Boundary Park. Both players went to clubs higher up than us. In one way it’s good that we was in for them but obviously frustrating that we couldn’t have gone a bit further particularly with our precarious League position. Speculate to accumulate and all that .......
  13. Fane will always divide opinion. The only opinion that actually affects the team though is Wellens’, and he must like him seeing as he always picks him! Perhaps your knowledge of football is greater than our manager. I agree with you on Winchester, always thought he was weak. Wesolowski on the other hand though was Player of the Year so he must have had something going for him. The only reason he left for Shrewsbury was for more money, he’s not the first one that has left Latics for that reason. Always thought he was pretty good though.
  14. Spot on. I hope we can survive this season, and Wellens is given some proper backing in the close season to get rid of the deadwood and try to bring some quality in. If he’s got the players I think he - and the club - will be successful.
  15. There’s a difference though between foreign players and sub-standard foreign players. We have seen too much of the latter lately. No affinity to the club, just looking for a game at any club that will have them and unfortunately due to our dire financial position in recent times we’ve fallen for them. Quite clearly they’ve not been good enough though otherwise they’d be in the team week in week out.
  16. Can’t disagree with any of this. He’s a bright, young manager who wants to be successful. The fact that we could have got 2 players in who Barnsley and Wigan feel are good enough for their squads is a good sign in a way, but Wellens is obviously frustrated that the powers that be couldn’t push the boat out for at least one of them. I think he’s potentially got a good future as a manager, the way that he got the team playing earlier in the season shows that. Every manager though is really only as good as his players, and unfortunately we don’t have a strong enough group. RW recognises that of course. He could be at the wrong club if we can’t match his ambitions.
  17. Agreed 100% Some people are just blinkered and will never see any of the good work that he puts in. One things for sure though, having spoken to RW about him, he certainly sees his value to the team, as do Byrne and Gardner. Still, what do they know eh?!?! ?
  18. Just looking at your username. What is it that you actually smoke??? ???
  19. Ridiculous comments. Try to be a bit less blinkered and a bit less biased, then people might take your comments a bit more seriously.
  20. I can’t believe I’m defending him because in the past I’ve just thought that he’s poor, and in a lot of ways he still is, but he’s undoubtedly improved under RW, and what he does do he does very well. I really think we would miss him if he wasn’t in the team. I never thought I’d say that about him.
  21. Which is exactly what Fane does. Wins the ball and plays a simple pass to a more creative player.
  22. You’re entitled to your opinion. As am I, I think. Such a shame you have a name of one of our golden oldies. You do him a disservice.
