What is it going to take to get this ageing placid fan base up off their feet and to finally take action against an egoistical maniac who has ripped the very soul out of this football club?

A lot of "this ageing placid fan base" (not me) have done all this kind of thing before, and actually done it - Stop the Rot etc...

What is it going to take to get our young, angry fan base away from their phones thinking they've done their bit through a few tweets and a few messages on here?

About 200 of us had a meeting in April and fuck all happened. Vote with your feet!

So this needs to be a lot more focused with one or two very specific, deliverable actions and/or demands rather than a long list of bollocks like that was.

Also any such "group" needs to have one or two strong "leaders" speaking who can be to the point and get a message across rather than let it descend into the traditional OAFC thing of loads of cock measuring plantpots telling the room how long they've supported the club and raising silly points.

"This is what we're doing, this is when, this is what we need people to help with, this is how we want people to get the message out......" - keep it that simple.

I feel sorry for Wilson and Azankpo. They have legs in them and urgency and effort.

But they look shit so far.

Benteke had legs, urgency and effort.

We've always had a pretty large section of our support that has valued legs, urgency and effort over quality.

Running around a lot is not much good to a team unless such a workhorse is surrounded by other quality, and lots of it.

Even with how cheap most of this large squad of absolute punts must be we could surely have signed 8 "proper" players and padded them out with kids and punts for the same money...

    So, so stupid..

    Yet again.

didnt he have to leave some kind of bond with the EFL before passing the fit and proper persons test would that not kick in ?

I believe you have to show a certain amount of money in a bank account.

Whether or not they would follow a procedure to establish where it came from and how long it's been there I'm not sure. Nor am I sure whether they would check it was still there the day after....

    = more fragmented.... 🙄🤪

It baffles me (ok it doesn't really) that people are still struggling with this.

We're simply going from a disinterested BrassBank owning it from the US and continuing to do nothing with it to 3+ local businessmen, all genuine longstanding supporters, looking to buy it and maximise it's use.

Whether or not they do ultimately want to take over the lot strikes me as irrelevant if Abdallah doesn't want or need to sell.

Would there be any issue with any of it if Abdallah had sat down months ago and simply negotiated a deal all were happy with (or willing to live with)?

Went to the Main Stand bar at half time - cans of Carling, Dark Fruits, some similarly rank bitter, nothing on draught...

    I didn't bother.

My lad wanted a pie so we then made our way to the kiosk at the other end, it was shut.

Back in the stand I asked a steward where I needed to go for food - "there isn't any food because of an issue with the Fan Led Group over there [points at North Stand]"

Somebody has decided not to use the pie serving tackle in the Main Stand kiosk(s) and then somebody has actually spoke to the stewards and told them to say that. It's beyond cringey...

For your unconditional support towards Oldham Athletic, season ticket holders can benefit from:

    - 10% off in the newly refurbished Club Shop for next season.

I had a funny feeling this might be the case

Where's that from so I can email them?

I bought the home top, season ticket in hand, and said "I believe I get a discount with a season ticket"

The lady said no and even gave an explanation that I didn't quite take in....

So annoying yet so predictable...

The new MD and new Commercial bloke were both right there too. Never change....

Just watched a documentary on BBC I-player about Newport County - a club that went bust, reformed, had to leave Wales twice & play in England, took on the Football League, FIFA & UEFA and won, and last season reached the 5th round of the FA Cup.
This is a supporters owned club, the town/City seem to support the club, the place is a shithole but its there's. In 1989/90 they were in the Hellenic League and playing home games in Moreton-le-Marsh in Gloucestershire, 85 miles away from Newport. In 1989/90 Latics were embarking on their most illustrious campaign in their history, got to one domestic Cup Final, the semis of the FA Cup and only missed out on the Championship play offs as the number of fixtures took their toll. Thirty years later, Newport are in a better situation than Latics despite the handicap of where they started from in 1989.
Three things stood out (1) just how much you can achieve with the right people at the club and the right spirit
    (2) Just how much some people love their club no matter how shite they are and how bleak their outlook.
    (3) How far Latics have fallen given their starting point and how they squandered our golden generation far too quickly.
If the Lemsagams bin Latics and leave us in shite, we can recover, we will recover and we can become our Oldham again. Unless the owners change their behaviour sadly I can't see we will ever have the right people and right spirit at the club again but I can dream.

    Alright Winston Churchill.....

The club as kept me informed throughout the process of what was going on regarding my two 100 club tickets.

I am sure any box owners would also have been kept in the communication loop.

I have to say that is something the club (OACT) were very good at, or at least were last season.

I worked in a primary school in the town and Martin was brilliant with us in terms of offering us tickets for games and offering to get their coaches and first team players coming into the school to reach out to the children. They base themselves in the Family Section of the RRE...

Absolutely. Realising that your football club isn't a club anymore, is not an isolated observation.

I’ve been to some Halifax RLFC games this season, and their work within their community is on another level compared to ours (and probably a lot of other football league clubs).

Local kids teams on the pitch before games, club staff and players in the town drumming up support and sponsorship from local businesses, far more comprehensive social media output.. it all develops a much bigger presence and a stronger bond between the club and the town. Something it feels like we don’t do as well as we could.

Were competing with Sky Sports subscriptions/Utd/City.. the club needs to get out there and and sell itself better to the townsfolk, of whom the club represents.

It seems the only decent bit of press we’ve had recently was the  sensory packs that were put together.

We probably did fuck all with the "community" compared to today around 1989/90/91 when we were really good and getting 18,000 in....

    Makes you think....
