  1. The others we know, how did Boca get on?
  2. Appreciatedand acknowledged Dave, it's not always bad.
  3. Obviously I only support Oldham. But I follow the results of some other teams for various reasons. Anyone else, and how did they fare? In no particular order. Tonbridge Angels. Nearest club. Promoted to National League South after controversial Super Play off. Will be on same league as arch rivals Maidstone United. Raith Rovers. Old school friends late Dad from there. Lost relegation play off to Scots Champ. Recreativo Huelva. Was on holiday there and team stayed at hotel (despite it being a home game) when due to play Barcelona. Dropped 2 leagues to Segunda B (4 divisions) since and struggled. Champions but have to play a 2 legged play off with another Segunda B 2 champion. 2 out of the 4 go up, and 2 others via play offs, but like the Rugbny League, and a bit of a farce. Not sure where else youa re champions but very possibly don't get promoted. They are the oldest club in Spain, founded by a Scottis engineer for Rio Tinto. Add in Bologna, as we went last year. Were deep in relegation trouble before apppointing well travelled Sinisa Mihalovic, and have been in promotion form since.
  4. It could indicate a lack of business prowess in that line of work, especially if there are a unrelated range of interests. Or boredom before going into the next thing. Or a vehicle for a specific project. Or something else. Which could affect us. I've looked at my post again, and I haven't said they are a certain of anything.
  5. Maybe back of house has a different meaning in your industry than mine. I'm refering to Secretary, Admin, Commercial Liason Officers, Ground Staff, Laundry staff. And he's only resctrucred 3 of those. To be clear, i think heeds to focus on Owner & Sporting Director, which clearly he won't, Chief Exec, Head Coach/Manager, Coaching staff, Players, Academy staff and players which IMHO is not back of house. The expediture on the latter will obviously be huge compared to back of house, and have a much bigger effect on income.
  6. My two brothers know fuck all about the industry I am in, we are like chalk and cheese. Equally, I know sod all of their business. If I owned a business, I would not allow them within a million miles of it, and vica versa I expect. Best person for the job and all that. In fact, if it were my business, I'd get someone truly independent to tell me what I need to know, not what they think I want to hear. The problem is he has not tried to make it more effecient, there have been a couple of job changes, otherwise it has been recruiting for the replacement. I really don't tihnk the back of house staffing is as much as a problem as the players and maanger recruitment. Do you? As you righntly say though, we have to judge him against his plan, but we are judging him also on his performance so far, which has been pitiful so canot be just forgotten.
  7. The funny thing is that the odds on Moyes getting the Stalybridge job are not a million miles from him getting the Oldham job.
  8. The collar is mightier than the P45.
  9. He's been on the contact us part of the official website for some time.

  11. So some initial analysis of The Plan. Apply Who, What, When, Where, Why & How and progress so far in the 2 years to all that and it's sparse. He's acknowledge more to come, but it really needs it. Free flowing football Who What Answered When Where Why History of club and preference. How UK Academy, Worldiwide Academy & Coaching. But that just invites another How. So far: Glimpses. League One 3 years, Champ 5 years (challenging at least) Who What Laudable and managed target When 3 & 5 years Where Why Fans & his expectation How Progress so far: Going backwards Stabilise and self sufficient finances Who What When Where Why Obviously answered How Progress so far: No accounts, but also no obvious signs Players who add value to the squad Who What When Immediately Where Why How Progress so far: No obvious progress, indeed even the players that have progressed have taken quite some time to adapt. There is a whole How, When, Where, why for that alone. Financial disarray at takeover (Often mooted, but any examples?) Who What When Where Why How Progress so far: No discernible improvement, indeed HMRC court action suggest no improvement despite being apparently settled. Ownership of the land amalgamation/maximising return Who What When Where Why How Progress so far: With the FLG looking to complete purchase, it looks as far away as ever. Note, how could he not know that was not included in the price, after being around for months. Commercial Income increase Who 1811 Media Pat Cluskey What When Where Why How Progress so far: Backward. Flitted between commercial staff, outsourced, back in house. No discernible plan at all. Increasing Fan base Who What When Where Why How Progress so far: Backwards, by his own actions, despite an increase in season ticket sales prior to his takeover. Support & growth of the Academy & Scouting network Who What When Where Why How Progress so far: Backwards. Lost 2 Academy heads, one although brilliant had a rapid promotion so no opportunity to gauge progress. Team were a couple of wins in the last 2 games staved off finishing 2nd from bottom. Comfortable mid table last year. Engage and obtain support of fan base and stakeholders Who What When Where Why How Progress so far: Belated attempt to engage in the Trust, misguided engagement with Kevin Birkett, poor management of sponsors Reducing overheads in non playing staff Who What When Where Why How Amalgamed an admin role with Academy, Company Sec taking on another role Progress so far: Unlikely, as many positions merely replaced, some rejig of admin forced. Miniscule savings in comparison. Most savings have come from losing a manager and not replacing quickly-hardly a strategic decision. Turover in excess of 100%. Improve coaching/management Who What When Where Why How Progress so far: Worst aspect. 5th managerial appointment, coached banished to youths. No plan at all. Albeit Paul Scholes had to be a boil that was lanced, he messed that up Governance. Who What When Where Why How Progress so far: Laughable that Barry, his brother and paid contractor (lawyer) are going to provide any sort of challenge. Already 2 years too late. Chief exec welcome though, depending who it is.
  12. Just had a look at Companies house. mmm perhaps not as flush as I had hoped. Has several dormant companies already.
  13. Quite probably, but of course he had no reason to get involved if he didn't want to. I think the same question needs to be asked of him as the owner. What is in it for him?
  14. I can't see any bright lights at the end of the tunnel either. Most of the staff are just replacements, or replacements for replacements, not restructuring. I'm struggling to see how any savings made in the non playing/non coaching staff. The only 2 decisions I have agreed with are appointing Scholes, he had to try that, and reappointing PW. And look how they turned out. Every decision has been incompetently decided or executed. I thought he was an unlucky owner at first...
  15. I know, but the owner hasn't got the funds! Tin hat time!
  16. Spoken about a lot, even more rumours, but has anything been officially and transparently stated? No evidence of any issue as far as I am aware. Otherwise it's standard practice to blame the last guy and we are 18 months in.
  17. The Sporting Director could work, if it was not so severely compromised by nepotism.
  18. This should please everyone except mick26, deyres42, archiecat & palmer1 who were the only ones who voted not to renew in the poll. On ly 80% wanted to keep Iacovetti though.
  19. At this rate we could be getting the old gang together...
  20. Has he got Oldham Athletic's interests at heart? He's got money and access to those with money though, I grant you.
