  1. Dredged up from the murky depths of memory. I often think that some of those players that seemed a bit meh back then would be tearing up a whole forest if we had them in our current team.
  2. I expect Raglan to come in at CB with McGahey returning to his CDM role. Sutton continuing at RB really depends on Freeman's fitness, or someone new coming in. Don't see much point in swapping in Shelton, one out of form player for another.
  3. De nada Remarkably "The Judge" is still going, now at Crawley, 17 years later.
  4. I wholeheartedly agree with other posters that most of this league is much of a muchness and anyone can beat anyone else on their day. I always worry about the performance after a big win and we were never at the races on Tuesday. I had hoped we would make a game of it in the second half but Hogan's needless sending off put paid to that. Just as I worry about the comedown after a big win, I am really hopeful we will see a reaction on Saturday to what was a terrible performance at Fylde in front of tremendous away support. I really like Will Sutton and think he will be a top player at a level higher than this but agree with others, his confidence has gone and he needs taking out of the firing line. However, in his and Kitching's defence I would say they seem to find themselves 1 on 1 with wingers more often than I would like to see. Shelton also needs a breather for the same reasons but he has had to play because of scant resources, hopefully that will start to ease shortly. Intrigued to see how we line up on Saturday, wouldn't be surprised to see the 4-1-4-1 that was successfully deployed at Rochdale. Surely it has to be Raglan for Hogan?
  5. Belatedly caught up with the pod after a busy few days, great listen as ever with another good fan guest. I thought his (Christian's?) point about some education for the kids about keeping off the pitch was a good point. Far too easy to get into condemnatory mode but some education and the club stepping ion sounds a good idea to me. Did Andy give the answer to the player with the nickname, "The Judge"? If so I missed it, can anyone help me out?
  6. I agree with pretty much everything that's been written in this thread about Norwood. He has some undoubted qualities but there are some negatives. I really, dislike his body language when he perceives team mates have let him down. Our players don't make mistakes on purpose, they make mistakes because they are fifth division players. Not one of them will improve because Norwood shows his frustration at their ineptitude. But curiously, as noted by Andy on the pod, he does have a nurturing side and, at times, can be seen encouraging and coaching team mates. At Wealdstone when on the bench he was clearly coaching Nuttall as both warmed up. He was on a fool's errand on Tuesday night, particularly after Hogan was sent off. It was mystifying to us all why he wasn't replaced, or supplemented, with Fondop if we were going to lump it high, long and hopeful. Norwood's a question mark for me at this stage, just really hoping MM gets the best out of him, don't think we've seen it yet.
  7. I like this, radical. Hobson as sweeper keeper, so good we play him twice.
  8. Completely different jumping off point for MM. Only three of Unsworth's starting XI from his first game remain at the club, only one (Sheron) is a regular starter. We're missing a couple of pieces of the jigsaw right now whereas back then we didn't even even know if the jigsaw was Big Ben or the Blackpool Tower.
  9. Eminem, like what you did there. I'm a Tollitt fan but not sure he fits into a 442. He was our best player before Christmas last year (low bar admittedly). Wonder if MM might pull a rabbit out of the bag and recall Kofi Moore from loan if the senior players are out injured.
  10. Ha! Glad I'm not on my own. When I look back to his debut at RB against Dorking he's come on massively playing in that position. Initially offered very little going forward and has developed into providing some threat down that flank. Still only 20. Think this spell at RB will help his development when he almost certainly reverts to CB.
  11. Can anyone spot Dickenson or Green in the training vid? Are we looking at Tollitt and A.N.Other on the flanks at the weekend?
  12. My guess would be he wasn't fit when he joined, he had to take a break for paternity leave which put him back to square one fitness wise and Will Sutton has done a good job in his absence. Hopefully he's close to match fitness and can provide Sutton with a bit of competition.
  13. Any news on the injuries to Dickenson and Green? Will they be out for a while, or is there a chance they might make the weekend?
  14. If that's right I'm surprised they've gone 3 years again.
  15. As ever, a gnomic riddle within an enigma. Just as with love and marriage, you can't have one without the other.
  16. I understand that despite a lot of interest from across the water, Mellon opted for Oldham.
  17. When I'm recruiting we don't tell the other candidates they've been unsuccessful until our preferred candidate has accepted the job. I don't expect the club are any different. It has to be right they told Thompson he hadn't got it before any wider announcement, his decision how to deal with that. There might be an announcement this afternoon, perhaps there are negotiations taking place if the new appointment is a current manager which might delay the announcement.
  18. There may have been other candidates on the shortlist, I guess it won't be that long until we find out.
  19. Is that because the new manager is a current manager, or the new manager doesn't want to potentially be tarnished by Saturday's result?
