  1. You're right @Gaz_Oafc, he did get a mention. I also saw him mentioned by Tom Williams, an analyst on twitter, as a potential signing for a L1 club (I think) so they may have done well there.
  2. I think Reid back training is good news. Good from a playing perspective, he has pace which we don't have in abundance. Good from a management perspective too, slap his wrists get him back on the job.
  3. This is where I'm at. Like what they've done so far and the one signing made was exceptional. Share your confidence that they know where we need strengthening. I'd much rather they were patient, do their due diligence on signings and sign the right players rather than saddle us with more squad padding. I guess out of contract players, like Danny Lloyd (if he is a target), are ripe for 6 month short contracts at this stage of the season and also a good time for loan signings too. I didn't realise Brabin was Peter Taylor to MM's Clough, thanks.
  4. Good research @nzlatic. I'm relatively happy with our league position given the ropey start and confidence in the current manager. Of course our team can be improved and without throwing anyone under the bus MM was pretty clear in his post-match interview after the home win against Hartlepool that he's desperate to strengthen. As Stones demonstrated I do agree with everyone that the right signing(s) will really bolster our play off challenge. Even at this stage it feels like every game is a big game given how closely bunched the play off pack is. That's got to be good for the p1ss boil when we inevitably chuck in a mediocre performance!
  5. Excellent news on both counts. Good to have your stamp of approval on the RW.
  6. Feels a bit small minded to say but given they're a promotion rival that's a plus from our perspective.
  7. Iversen and Ripley of course. Lyden, Kean Bryan.
  8. A reminder that we used to have some pretty decent loan signings: Lang, Sturridge, McAlmont, Clarke all spring to mind from recent years.
  9. We do, we also have Brennan Dickenson. It doesn't seem as though MM fancies either. I do think Couto has a sweet left foot, still young, have to trust the manager's judgment, he sees him in training every week.
  10. Just think they'll get bored rather than run out of money.
  11. Think the Stones signing shows that MM is looking to bring in players that improve the First XI rather than just pad the squad so reckon he will hang out for the right signings rather than rush players in. Think we can add LB/LM to the list given Hogan played much of Saturday's game at LB.
  12. But surely at some point they'll tire of paying inflated wages to lower league journeymen just to hae a tilt at the L2 play offs? Would be interesting to know the relative playing budgets of Wrexham and Salford. Wrexham were rumoured to be paying silly money to Ben Foster, players like James McLean and Steven Fletcher won't come cheap either and that's on top of Mullin, Ollie Palmer, Elliot Lee, Tozer, Hayden, Forde....
  13. The target pre-season must have been play offs so it shouldn't be a surprise if we get there and indeed get promoted. Not sure a team has ever been relegated straight back to the NL, if it has happened it's a rarity. Agree with @GlossopLatic and others, getting out of this league is the tougher challenge.
  14. There's a clip on Twitter, it's horrible. Those railings need sorting out, a completely foreseeable injury risk.
  15. ...and some Premier League teams have throw-in coaches which shows the importance they place on the restart.
  16. I'll second that. Also, just making your available to receive the ball. It's a simple game of angles, find space, sometimes through movement (but not always).
  17. I think the Stones signing shows that he's only interested in bringing in quality players that will improve the First XI, he's prepared to be patient rather than pad the squad.
  18. A brilliant post-match interview from MM. Proud of the performance but gives the players the credit. Clear lines about the suspensions without detracting from the performance. Also outlines succinctly the culture of the football club and shows he understands the fanbase. A masterclass.
  19. I hope you're right about this and feels like you might be onto something. As much as MM will have told the players what he expects of them most people need something tangible to reinforce words. This is an opportunity to redouble the focus on being a winning football club, serious about training to win, serious about winning football matches from a foundation of hard work. I hope that Reid and McGahey don't get thrown under the bus though, or made an example of. The post was ill judged, nothing more. Go through the process, give them a rap on the knuckles, let's get on with making the play offs and winning the FA Trophy.
  20. Barnet away style performance. Keep our shape, intelligent press, hit them on the break fast and hard.
  21. Oooh, now I'm not so sure. I've seen somewhere that it's 23 games rather than 19 in the National League.
  22. Excellent news. Notwithstanding the paucity of suitable replacements he's an important player for us.
  23. Sounds like it's pretty close. The consortium taking over are already funding the club and were waiting for some planning permission in respect of ground around the club. It also looks like they can still sign free agents and loan players up to the max of 16 but are struggling to get players in. Hopefully they will be free of Martin and the shackles before too long.
  24. I thought the takeover was close to completion? Sounds like Ron Martin is being a d1ck (what a surprise) but an announcement seems to have been imminent for weeks now.
