Latics 1 - 0 Oxford
HT 0-0
Clarke

Oh it's good to be back, for the meantime ?
-
How do I sign up again? Can't find it anywhere pretty sure it's just a PayPal transfer but want to make sure... cheers fellas.
Yep, I'm in again - lets see if I can at the very least predict 10 games this season? Money to a good cause if I do forget anyway.

Gerrard needs to sharpen up a bit, he improved 2nd half.
Would agree totally with that

Me too, I thought his lack of pace would be a serious drawback for him (I certainly know my stuff).
He had everything else though, or showed glimpses of in those first few cameos - came in and marshalled the defence at 19 years old, put mvoto in his place and carried the ball out of defence, did the usual dirty work of a centre half. Still to this day he's slow and turns like a cart horse sometimes but his other traits were far superior of the other centre halves we'd seen before him that season.

Prediction will be in every week now. Enjoy Bristol ?

Make note to self along the lines of:
"Latics are playing tomorrow/on Tuesday/at the weekend. I reckon we'll tonk this lot. Ooh, I know, I'll slap a prediction in that League thingy". Job done.
I'll try many of these various techniques, Rudemedic suggested something which would probably be worthwhile for me...
I patiently await my write up from LSA.

This little write up for each contestant/contender is brilliant. Ffs I'm in - I'll refer to these posts next season as you're tempting me in again ????

I could post a reminder in this thread...?
Why don't you give it one last go.... as you say, it's not like you didn't do alright when you did predict... and Playershare & Dr Kershaws are grateful beneficiaries.
I'll probably jump on board, I keep seeing you plug it and I keep getting tempted - not gonna sort it atm though.
-
I honestly don't know, I set up weekly reminder on my phone this season and still managed to forget the 3rd game in, but ignored it and carried on I think the fourth week, only to forget again... ?
-
Hahahaha that's two years in a row where I've paid the £10, done alright the first few weeks and then forgot to predict... and finished bottom ???? Give it a miss this year eh

I would assume something similar. Maybe only a nominal fee but a buyback clause and a big old sell-on clause.
A sell on clause is worth nothing you Brighton... we sell for no more than 500k nowadays. At the very very best they're getting 125k

I forgot about him.
He looked good last pre season and did OK when called upon by SR despite the unadventurous approach that was no use to a striker.
He can clearly finish and I think he could be a very good player. Shez not getting rid suggests he might well think the same.
We were all saying the same about Rhys Turner, same thing will happen unfortunately.

Personally, I think Gerrard being here really halts his progress with us...
Genuinely wouldn't mind three centre halves next season of Edmundson, Clarke and Stott with Clarke marshalling them in the centre - but doubt that will happen.
-
No way near better than Gregan.
But oh what a player Stefan Stam was.
-
Brilliant this week at latics idea though..
-
Peter Clarke "It's nice to know the fans think I've done alright.." errr ye just alright Peter, just alright.
-
Can't believe people were undecided on Law, bang average utility squad player... perhaps.
He has been god awful at full back last few times I've seen him, so even when called upon - say if Dummighams injured I wouldn't be comfortable with him as our drop in. The position he puts himself in when 1on1 with a winger, jheeez.
Good honest pro though so wish him well.
-
Harry Bosch, totally agree. Or at least, I'm definitely on board with your view on things.
Should at least be doing our best to convince him that with a respectable manager like Shez and a few top top players like himself.. next season could be a whole lot better.
Im currently in a similar position with the team I coach... my best player is thinking of leaving but not 100% sure, I'm telling him that with the additions we are going to make, and the weaker players we are moving on - that next season we could potentially win the league. (Okay, not overly the same - because don't think Latics have the chance to win the league, but definitely play offs with signings like Ripley)
I've not once just said "you know what, ye the team you're thinking of leaving too are great, we're awful - go ahead and leave"

Doesnt Shirtliff live in USA?
Cheaper flights than Harbins would cost. Get the deal done.
-
He still bottles it in tackles at least 5 times a game though. But yes, you can tell he's a much more disciplined player and probably would serve us well over a full season.
A very frustrating player to watch at times though so can understand people's negative views on him. Like I say, the amount of times he shits out of a 50/50

He' probably on the wind up but a Rochdale fan I know told me Shez wants Donal McDermott, who's apparently had a falling out with Keith the Binman.
I've always liked the look of him when I've seen him.. proper horrible bastard aswell, reckon shez can get a tune out of him.
-
Not that green would be up for contention anyway... so pointless really.
Brian Wilson definitely deserves some sort of award. Clarke gets it for me though, probably our fittest player even at his age, second appearances, his goals, his goal line clearances, his leadership.
-
Why will Hunt definitely return? He's not that young and he's not going to get a sniff at Brighton next season now with them going up... may want to find a Championship club but a loan to us wouldn't be the worst outcome for him to prove his worth.

That's what I'd go with, although Shez hasn't played that side and formation in any of his pre season games.
