  1. I recall us 'only' taking about 1,000 in the Premier League when we played them in 93/94. Then again it was a Monday night game live on Sky as well.

On going slightly off-topic, but am I the only one who thinks 'panicing' doesn't look right in written form?

It looks wrong because it is!!!!! It's Panicking.

  2. More on the basis that we didn't look like scoring in a month of Sundays in that game...they were always going to score a second and if someone was going to get it, I wanted it to be Rico to shut the Muppet Choir and general moaners up. Perhaps 'nice' was the wrong word, but it was rather satisfying to hear all the booboys shut up...at least for two minutes before they started complaining that he 'never did that for us'.

Craig Davies was the golden boy at the time, and seemingly could do no wrong. I'm not sure why you've found fault with that.

And for the record, I've never even heard of Wallsall.

I think your going a little over the top in your praise for Ricketts.

Shez said from the beginning that he'd have to go looking for the ball a bit more due to a lack of creativity in this division, but right from the start you could see that he was never going to put a shift in!

Like many players he was skillful, but he was also bone idle and gave an impression that he didn't really want to be here at all.

If he had just had that little bit of Cooksey in him then he would probably still be in the premiership.

Middlesborough, Leeds, Stoke, Cardiff, Burnley, Southend, Preston, and ourselves can't all be wrong......not to mention trials at Southampton and America!!!!

The only reason he's at Walsall is because it's the last resort!!!!

  3. I would say to Sheff U...' Make us an offer ' and see where we go from there, if they want him that badly they might just make us a silly offer.

If it ain't enough then tough and he stays here. Thing is I don't think we would miss him that much with the midfield players Shez has brought in this season.

How about a cheeky swap for cash plus Chris Armstrong...just the type of left sided player we're after!

This is another reason why we should offer Philliskirk a kings ransom when his contract nears it's end...I can't remember such a consistently rich vein of talent roll off the production line in all my time supporting this club.

  4. I know it's unavoidable sometimes but this all-ticket business is getting a bit much.

The ground holds about 10,000 and we've been allocated 3,200 which should be enough for a midweek game.

With Rochdale's average crowd at under 3,000 under the circumstances even allowing for the ERNIE factor there shouldn't be a problem.

This would be a good time to relax segregation and if we were to bring in excess of our allocation I'm sure we could be accomodated in other parts of the ground.

We want the night to be a fitting tribute by both sets of fans but in my opinion making it all ticket for Oldham fans will definitely affect the turnout.

£15 is also too much for a 1st round match unless £5 of it was to be donated to the fund or charity.

Am I being unreasonable or what?

  5. This housing crisis is going to last a while longer yet and I can't see any development happening in the near future, however, I can't believe that they would abandon the Boundary Park site after all the trials and tribulations they've gone through, not to mention the huge expense so far in gaining planning permission.

Having said that if Tameside council were to offer some help with funding, it could be a good move, as long as it's not too far out of the borough.

It might also be a ploy, to shock Oldham Council into some sort of financial contribution!!!

As for a name change that would involve anything other than Oldham in the title then I would be dead against it as I'm sure the vast majority of fans would be too!!!

  6. Don't be too surprised to see Zola moving on from Crewe for big money in a year or so.....Gradi and co are renowned for producing quality strikers.

Agreed, It's a lot to pay but the guy has potential, he's big and awkward, and if anybody can make a silk purse out of a sows ear then it's the Crewe backroom boys.

They can't afford to waste money like that and although it seems like a crazy move I'll say £1m+ profit within 18months!!!

  7. Just to the right of the Board Statistics area you will see "Delete cookies set by this board" give that a click also try clearing your cache , this will probably help.

I'm also having trouble when trying to post and get the authorisation mismatch message.....any advice?

  8. How many do you think we'd sell if we put on the same offer?

At £100 a time we'd have sold a lot more than you think.

Remember that equates to £4.35 per game!!!

I can only go to about 10 games a season because of work commitments and I would have definitely bought one.

There are many people in a similar situation.

I'll bet that the 16,000 who have bought tickets at Huddersfield don't go every week.

  9. simon grayson or larry boy is a very big admirer of taylor, has been since he broke into the first team, and if you beleive all the hype and rumours put an offer in last year which was dismissed instantly as derisory

whilst i wouldnt want to see taylor leave,if a bidding war was to break out between the lashers or doncaster then providing we wasnt sold short i wouldnt have a problem with it.

like has been said we are until financially viable a selling club, and have to make ends meet

if blackpool want to offer hoolahan and 500k fine,if they dont he stays, and helps get us up....either way were quids in.

No way Hoolahan will be involved in any deal to come here...he's probably holding out for a bigger pay deal from Blackpool so there's no way we could compete and even if we could why would he want to drop down a division!!!

  10. Been released by Leeds. Bought for around £400k from Stockport where he scored goals for fun, surely worth a punt on a free ?

Just checked wikipedia....He was signed on Jan 31st, just 2 days after Gary McCallister took over as manager.

Probably all sorted before he arrived but in how many proffessions could you get away with mistakes like that.

He's effectively been a Leeds player for 4 months, if what's been stated on this site is true, and the fee was £,400,000, then that works out at about £28,000 a week including wages and they're letting him go for nowt...........unbelievable!!!!!!!

  11. Surely, they should extend the deadline for cheaper season tickets if they are dissapointed with the uptake.

The chron says we are on a par with last seasons figures and Alan Hardy says he's also pleased with the sales so far. however I've just rang the ticket office and a girl from there said that the figures are dissapointing and that they havn't sold as many as last year.

Who do you beleive? ........ By the way, she also said that the discount price will be valid until tomorrow lunchtime.

  12. Just gone onto ceefax to see that Crewe are close to signing Big Calvin Zola for a six-figure fee. How has Ronnie managed to get that much for him?! Not a bad striker every now and then but he's not going to be banging them in every week. Waste of money.

Should be interesting how that turns out as they have a tremendous record of churning out strikers.

Let'see what Gradi and co can do with Zola.

He'll probably be sold on for a couple of mill at the end of next season.

  13. Leeds should have spent more on wages and signings this season, which might have given them a more positive ambition as a club and set them on the way towards promotion, higher attendances through more attacking football, higher earnings from pie sales, and from there higher gate receipts and more TV revenue, and higher earnings again from the TV, and promotion, and TV and higher earnings overall. Their lack of investment has cost them dear, and they are doomed in their currect frame of mind to see clubs like Doncaster, Swansea and Gretna overtake them until they get owners who are prepared to sink unfeasably large amounts of money into a guaranteed promotion side, which they should do for the financial viability of the club.

    Does anyone agree?

Don't you remember.... Leeds went into administration...they nearly went bust.

Without the points deduction they would have been runners-up!

I wouldn't say they were quiet in the transfer market either!

    To name a few.......Constantine,Kilkenny,Huntingdon,Prutton,Johnson,Hughes,Weston,Sweeney,

    Michalik,Kenton,Elding, and Freedman(Loan) There...that's a full team.

Just shows you can't always buy yourself out of trouble.

    What a shame!!!!

  14. theres not 1 good review from a rotherham fan and his record speaks for itself why we are prepared to pay a fee for him is ridiculous. why not chase proven talent like keigan parker or grant holt

Keighan Parker and Grant Holt would probably be £3/4k a week in wages and they've hardly set the place alight at their respective clubs.

Grant Holt has been leaving Forest nearly all season and Parker can play when he feels like it. If they were both the quality we were looking for why would their respective clubs be gettin rid.

Trust Shez to make the right moves.....it's taken Forest three seasons to get out of this division and Leeds have been buying everybody in sight and look where it's got them.

  15. You havent read the comments have you, you have just jumped straight on your high horse...

I'm not talking about your comments I'm talking about comments by posters in general. I agree, we all have differing views.

The player hasn't even been named officially so what have the club done wrong except wet your appetite!!!!

  16. You know....there's no pleasing some of you lot. Chill out for goodness sake!!!

If the club say nowt you moan...If they announce a possible deal that falls through you moan...they just can't bloody win!!!!!

I enjoy the excitement of a transfer and today's waiting is all part of the anticipation of a close season.

I'd much rather have the will he won't he saga than them say nowt for a week and then suddenly announce a signing!!!!

This site has been in meltdown today and at least we've had something meaningful to discuss.

He'll be signed tomorrow no doubt, and then we can all look forward to the next one!
