  1. Although the housing market has stagnated their is still a huge market for affordable housing for eg. first time buyers, to get on the property ladder.

If the housing built is at the right price then there won't be a problem!

TTA won't have gone in to this blind and I think, will have other options to fall back on.

  2. Another thing which was discussed was the Bradford ticketing policy for this season which offered big reductions if over a certain number of people signed up. Simon Corney said that this was something which they would love to do but he didn't believe for a second that we'd get more than 4500 to sign up which would probably be even less if they set the original price higher than this season in order to reduce it drastically.

He went on to say that even if they did manage to get 4500 to sign up this would deny the club it's 1500 walk up punters who provide the clubs only real income/cashflow over the course of a season. He said if they thought they could do it and secure anything like 7/8000 ST holders, they'd do it in a heartbeat.

How can we be so sure that it wouldn't generate the required number....if we don't try we will never know.

Bradford had the bottle to try something new and it worked!

From my own personal point of view I can only get to 1/2 the games due to shift work but if the season ticket was priced at say £200 I'd definitely get one as I could afford to miss a few games and not be out of pocket.

I may also be tempted to book time off work to attend games I wouldn't normally go to.

They have to do something next season to get fans, especially the young kids, through the turnstiles...it's not just the match ticket when you add the car park and a programme your talking £26 and that's without food or drink....Throw in a couple of kids and it's beyond the reach of a lot of fans and far too much in my opinion.

  3. LOL! :laught16:

I cannot honestly believe some of the things i have just read on this thread. I am in total shock.

So let me get this right just so I fully understand what has been said.

Shez doesn't want to sign Darren Huckerby and has refused the TTA's money to sign another player?

Sweet lord, i worry for some of our fans i really do, just more tripe so people can have a go at Shez. I don't know why he doesn't just get out of this club and go to a club where most of the fans don't just turn on him as soon as things get a bit rough. Your all pathetic and i'm totally gobsmacked at some of the things that come out of people's mouths.

I've said before that everyone is entitled to their opinion and i'm not trying to force mine on anyone else but i simply cannot believe that Shez has turned money away and refused to sign a player based on the fact that it wasn't his choice. If this is true and the TTA are signing players without Shez's consent then more fool them. I like the TTA and am in know why having a go but they employ Shez for a reason, TO MANAGE THE DAY TO DAY RUNNING OF THE TEAM AFFAIRS.

When will people in this club learn to just let someone get on with their job, people turn on Ronnie and want him out, you got your wish and now people are turning on Shez and want him out, i'm sure you'll get your wish soon. It's an absolute disgrace.

Some of us so called fans sit here and moan about being in this division for so long and how we are "trying not to get promoted" as some moron said posted yesterday yet none are willing to let a manager who has proved he can get the team playing good attractive football at this level (last season if your memory allows you to remember) and regardless of who put the team together it was Shez who got them playing. I just wonder where we would this club would be if our board Sacked bigfat Joe when things were a bit rough or where the scum up the road would be if their Board sacked Taggart when shizzle hit the fan.

It never ceases to amaze me how short people's memories are.

    IN SHE WE TRUST!

    VIVA LE BLUES!

It takes all sorts to create a message board....some posts will be utter garbage and some posts will not, don't take them too seriously...It will take more than a few silly posts on a message board to get the manager out!

If you were waiting for sensible posts only there'd be hardly anything to discuss.

    Chill out!!!

  4. Shez is running the playing the side from the back of a fag packet.

Obvious lack of man management, Tactically poor, arrogant, no contacts, Players have lack of respect for him. end of

    GET SHUT ASAP PLEASE

What do you base these assumptions/facts on.

How can you know he has no contacts in the game and that his man management is poor.

What real evidence have you to support the players lack of respect.

As far as arrogance goes there's no one more so than a certain Alex Ferguson and look how successful he's been over the last few years!!!

If it's your opinion then fair enough, but you talk as though it is all fact!!!

  5. Oldham lead the hunt, which means no other clubs are interested then!

2 goals in 21 appearances, wouldn't go as far calling him an "ace".

Actually 4 in 24 in SPL and several MOM awards before his injury...a reasonable return for a midfielder in a struggling team. According to the Gretna FC site he has already been released from his contract.

Mick Wadsworth said that another club would have come in for him anyway because his form was fantastic before his injury.

Might be worth a gamble as the medics have said he will make a full recovery.

  6. We can debate all day about these two players and we all have our own opinions.

Taylor is a very good player at this level, and Oldham through and through, however, it has been said a million times that he should be playing on the right and I think constantly playing him on the left has held back his progress.

I cannot believe after all this time that we still have no natural left footer at he club.

If we'd stuck him on the right when Liddell got injured I feel we could have been looking at a £1m+ player now, the guy was on fire on the right when he came into the side and it seems like such a waste of a talent.

Eardley gets some unwarranted stick on this site as first and foremost he's a defender and a bloody good one at that, who's still learning his trade. He's had no right winger in front of him nearly all season and thus no outlet to release the ball to....when Liddell played there at the begining of the season he was a different player.

Out of the two we could probably afford to lose Eardley, as Lomax, I feel, has just as much potential, however you don't get promotion by constantly selling your best young players.

There's no way Liddell ( at his age ) is going to come back the same player after a serious injury and such a long layoff, and to keep him, and sell your promising youngsters, is not the way forward.

As far as fees go you've got to be looking at upwards of £500k each before I would consider selling.

  7. 'I was jealous of the Milwall fans today, those were some of the best fans we have had at BP for a while, they sang and all stood together the "No one likes us..." and the "ooooohh" that went on for ages and the ":censored: ground no fans" or "You're supposed to be at home/give a :censored:" were top draw as they were so right. This coming from a club that has yo-yoed between this league and the championship plus got to a cup final, a bit similar to ourselves. They don't give a :censored: what league they are in or whether they are playing fancy football or if the manager tucks the players in at night with a cup of cocoa they just wanted the team to win they pootle off back down the road with the points'

The best paragraph I have read on a footy site. Millwall fans were superb - outnumbered 20-1 and showed just how passionate they are. They get a rough press but is there a more passionate set of fans in the entire football league? I don't think so. Our supporters are just embarrassing.

    KOTK

To be fair you don't get moaners travelling 200miles for a nothing game...These are the die hards and you don't expect anything else. They'll have their fair share of moaners at the New Den just like everybody else.

  8. Some people were slating him in the Lookers but I think he would be a different player if Hughes/ Davies played along side him.

Its obvious that he is not a target man and playing him up on his own wont get the best out of him and as a result he becomes isolated.

I would now if I was Shez start to use more of the younger home grown players and see how we go on. I am not against loan players and some do put a shift in BUT there cant be judging by todays performance couldnt do any worse than Jarret/Livermore.

During the second half I was sat on my own and began thinking of when Boundary Park has been rocking then I looked at the half empty stadium. We are not a million miles away from being a good team I still maintain if Shez could have put out his first team we would be in the play offs.

"It's obvious he's not a target man".......then why the hell did we sign him because we've needed a 'target' man all season.

We always play our forwards up on their own so no difference there then!!!

  9. He still could, but after a season or so with us. I'd love to see him in a Latics shirt for a final season but ain't getting any hopes up about it. He'd absolutely murder this division.

Yes, your'e right, he would murder this division, but he'd need good players around him.

Would he have made that much difference to the team who played on Saturday?

He's a great player but he's played with great players all his career and somehow coming to Oldham might not be such a good idea!

  10. I wholeheartedly agree. I think he was pretty ineffectual for most of the time with the odd glimpse of his former capabilities. A poor man's Wellens in my view.

He was also injured for 80% of his loan spell...he had just began to assert himself and had a blinder against Leeds and that's why he was signed.

You can't blame him for going to Leeds but I'd have hin back tomorrow if it doesn't work out.

  11. This was in the Daily record today.................................................................

Gretna Captain Set To Leave For England

    Mar 15 2008

    Gretna In Crisis...

GRETNA captain Paul Murray could be offered an escape route by Oldham.

The midfielder is wanted by the English League One promotion play-off hopefuls.

Murray, 31, will be available for free if Gretna fail to pay off their debts. The entire first-team squad have been told their contracts will be ripped up if the Raydale Park outfit close.

And Murray could be one of the first to find a new club.

Boundary Park manager John Sheridan could use the unexpected availability of the former England B international to bolster his squad ahead of the run-in.

Sounds just what we want......At the end of his career, with a great recent injury record.

Didn't he turn us down at the begining of the season?

He'll probably play a couple of games and be out injured till next season, along side our other overpaid youngsters, Gregan and Liddell!!!!

  12. I reckon a draw is the best we can hope for, as Shez says Luton are in a totally false position and have some of the leagues better individuals, having said that, even without the deduction of 10 points they would still be in the bottom four.

We've got so many injuries and now a total stranger in goal..I just can't see this winning run continuing.

If we could play our first choice eleven for the remaining games then I think we'd go up via the playoffs.

I don't think the defence will let us down but I just can't see us causing them enough problems at the other end.

I hope he plays with the two wingers as it will give us more of a threat, otherwise It'll be a backs to the wall performance and can see a Luton win...perhaps 1 v 0.

    I hope I'm wrong!!!!

  13. 1 year, no professional experience. If we're gonna play a kid it might as well be our own, bloody hell.

    Thinking the same myself.

The lad has no first team experience at all and if he plays tomorrow it will be his proffesional debut.

A real kick in the teeth for Bell and yet another weird decision by Shez. I bet he's never seen the guy play!

Surely it's better to play the devil you know in this case.

If Bell's good enough for the bench for half a season then he's got to be good enough to play.

  14. Just to add as well , we still approx £700K in the kitty to spend on new players or contracts , so all in all it would not be a disaster if we were to get promoted.

Plus also TTA would up the budget accordingly.

Just where do you get the available £700K from? Our budget was based on recieving a fee for Porter and we got nowt...TTA still spent the cash but don't think it's automatic that they'll spend the same again and judging by the drop in crowds ( don't forget the salary cap ) we may even have to pull in the purse strings to balance the books!!

We were budgeted to lose about 800K this season so on transfers and cup money we'll just about be at breakeven if we're lucky!!!

When we get everybody fit we have a pretty strong squad and I think we'll rely heavily on our home grown talent who have done us proud this season. They'll all be a year older and wiser and could make a big impact next year.

Unless there's a mass exodus of players as in previous seasons then I think a couple of quality signings in the right areas may be enough.

  15. Give the lad a year ext. His experience is vital.

Not sure, I don't think he can be the same player after his injuries and for me he would have to prove his fitness in the last few games of the season.

Having said that who have we got to replace him...if only Chris Taylor had his football brain we'd have a hell of a footballer on our hands!!

Perhaps he could still do it as Sheridan was OK on dodgy knees for a couple of seasons, but I would like to see him play just behind the strikers where I think he'd be more of a threat.
