Heres the tangible bit, on current PPG for a full season we would be in the playoffs even with this collapse in form. A summer of trimming the squad and recruiting well and I wouldn't think it a wild bet that we improve.

Due to Unsworth we started with a 10 game handicap. Which meant we started the season with the terrible run of form which inevitably most teams get in this division at some point.

We still have a very very slim chance of the playoffs, after going through a period of 2 wins in 20. Shows how shit you can be and still Make playoffs.

For all those saying give him time-

I will await your response if it’s piss poor after ten games next season. . .

We all want continuity - but it must come with something tangible. No manager can sustain poor results in the name of ‘give it time’

    No shit.

The last ten games has been an absolute stinker, but prior to that, we was top 3 in the form table.

We have hit an absolute terrible patch at a terrible time, but let’s not forget what came before it.

If we win 1 in 10 at the start of next season like our best mate Unsy, then something’s gone terribly wrong.

If we start next season with squad that has no balance or clear plan, something has gone wrong.

But I trust Mellon will not make the mistakes Unsy did.

  3. I can’t be arsed going through the new manager cycle again.

I trust Mellon will get it right. How anyone can truly judge him with the limited squad we have is beyond me.

It’s hard, tiring and infuriating at times. But a bit of patience is required for Mellon to get us back on track.

The problem is if he spends the money available in the summer and this form continues we are in even deeper shit aren’t we?

I’m glad I’m not making the decision!

This is why we need a DOF, someone who can oversee the football side of things.

Whoever has been doing this previously? Assume it’s DR, needs to take a step back.

Something that did frustrate me though is am I right Rochdale were only restricted to selling the top "tier" of the chaddy yesterday. I'd actually quite like to see it relatively full. We turned down the chance to sell another 2000 tickets to Chesterfield a couple of weeks ago. I know their maybe reasons to mot give them a huge amount of fans but we turned down between what 30-40 grand of income on that one game alone and it would have enhanced the atmosphere significantly.

Any extra income would have been offset by fans going on the pitch. It would also have given Chesterfield a lift when we needed wins.

The question was theoretical, how many if he'd scored them all abd Norwoods tally without them?

Remember the time in league 2 when we had 3 different penalty takers in as many games and they all missed ?

Taking penalties is a skill and requires a sound mindset or luck. Norwood never looks like missing.

But he scored 6 goals. He scored 6 goals. I mean why won’t you acknowledge that he scored 6 goals.

😂😂 Dickinson managed 5. He can’t even get in the squad at Hartlepool.

Sheron hasn’t scored a penalty so they all count !

Im sure he will be chuffed with players player award again for his running ability and commitment to clapping his hands and pointing.

Just had a scroll through Twitter.

There are genuinely individuals of apparent sound mind wanting James Norwood gone.

Give the moody fucker some service and he’d have us in the top 3 alone.

For some reason Mellon and Brabin have decided that thug ball was the way to in order to secure the play-offs. It’s failed spectacularly. Change the style for next season and we will see huge results with Norwood. With Grigg gone, there is no one near his quality in the division.

I know there is a strange obsession applied by some of the fans when someone donning blue and white colours runs around a bit but c’mon…

If we’re not challenging for the top 3 next season I am genuinely going to stop watching Oldham and get into crown green bowls or something.

    It’s too fckn depressing.

To have the best chance of making that top 3, why the on earth wouldn’t you want to have someone of Norwood’s quality?

To be honest, with his reported salary, will he get much better elsewhere?

Said it months ago, Norwood will leave and we will regret it. The opportunity to have the stand out striker in the league has passed us by.

Like you say, he’s a poacher and he rarely gets a chance created for him. Hence the frustration.

They are all technically better than Sheron and can pass the ball better than him (McGahey possibly being the only exception as I really don't rate him other than being a stopper in defensive midfield).  And yet they've all been worse than him this season in my eyes.  Not to say that Sheron is a world beater by any means but more that the list of players above has significantly underperformed on a regular basis.  Hopefully Lundstram's assist is more of what we'll see from him next season instead of what he's shown so far.

Can I also add on a technical level that Sheron is a really good tackler?  I'm not just saying that because he puts himself about, but he regularly times risky tackles well when he's pressing that breaks up opposition play.  It is needed in the centre of midfield as well as good passing ability and unfortunately this is shown when the other midfielder is Tom Conlan, who clearly has the ball control that Sheron doesn't but is frustratingly lightweight and often gets pushed off the ball far too easily for a central midfielder.

Like last year, if the manager and anyone responsible for recruitment can't find players who can perform better than Sheron on a regular basis they'll probably pay for it with their jobs just like Unsworth (and rightly so).  But I can't dislike Sheron because, unlike our other midfielders, he at least does the minimum that's expected whenever he's on the pitch compared to pretty much every other midfielder this season who regularly fall way below those levels.

His ability to tackle is irrelevant when it’s a result of correcting his own mistakes. Same goes for his running about and pressing. He will be replaced and fans will quickly see what I and others see. He’s an absolute liability. He can’t be trusted with the ball and kills any of our momentum.

Cannot wait for the day he’s replaced.

Bollocks. Unlikely but still possible. Halifax match will decide.Play like today and we'll win

Really want to give Mellon a hug to cheer him up. He seems really down. Some of us still think he'll succeed despite all the negativity and moaning on here.

Play like we did today and the ball will be stopping in mud on that pitch.

    Think like meeeee! 😂😂😂

We’re talking about the midfield. . not the squad, but to answer your completely irrelevant point about your fan boy- I don’t criticise Norwoods ability, I criticise his attitude.

    On Sheron.

Players player of the year last season.

Most appearances of any player this season.

    3rd highest goal scorer.

Contributed more goals and assists than other MIDFIELDER -  bar none.

    But yeah, he’s shit.

    Laughable comment.

I get rid of every single midfielder before Sheron- and only then I’d replace him for better.

He’s crap honestly. Been on the bench last two games so hopefully he’s off soon.

A 28year old lump of a centre back is showing him how to play holding midfield.

I’d say he would be a good centre back / right back. But we tried that when he first joined and he was even worse.

Which is fine and understandable- saying he’s shit as some have or singling him out when he’s contributed more than than any other midfielder is nonsense.

    He’s shit.

Don’t you criticise Norwood? He’s contributed more than any other player on the pitch all season.

Nathan Sheron is an absolutely shit central midfielder. He can run, but he can’t pass or look after a football.

We have struggled in midfield ever since he’s been ever present, open your eyes.

Build the midfield around Lundstram, find a player like Gardner who can stay fit. Find a player similar to Mcgahey who can sit, pass and wants the ball.

the midfield has looked a lot better without the anti footballer Sheron in there.

Sheron still managed to come on today and pump the ball into a channel for nobody. Does it every game. Doesn’t think just twats the ball, usually ending in the keepers hands or centre backs head.

Sooner we are rid of him the better.

He needs the summer to put his own stamp on the team...

Like many others were for ages with Unsworth, I think we should stick with him, but wouldn't be arsed if he left...

I’m happy with Mellon, but if the board have any doubts, then get rid.

We can’t be fucking around giving managers the summer and then 10 games at the start of next season.

Personally, I would be looking at DR’s position / recruitment before Mellon.
