So was he signed without being scouted and if so what was the point?
Surely there are suitably experienced full backs available who can’t get a game in league 1 or 2.
To be honest, I don’t know why we are making a shambles of the right back situation. It’s not that hard to find a competent right back.
Sachdev was a panic loan, nothing more.

They will be gone, they won’t sit here.

BP not been online since this was posted, I hope he is okay.
It’s a shame really. Think we all need to chill out sometimes, me included.

I'm not sure that we 'have to play' these players in the positions though....Sachdev was signed as a right back and is fit for example.
He’s also only ever played 5 professional games and is clearly not seen as the solution.

yep I can think of far more pressing issues than our 17 goal striker not scoring enough solo dribbles from halfway.
I mean the fact we have to play a centre back at right back, two central midfield players on the wing, and our central midfield partnership having 0 creativity and scared of the ball is a non issue.
James Norwood needs to score every game or go back to Barnsley.

He had a couple against chesterfield that were behind him. Seems to be a common theme of our crossing/set pieces at the moment.
Hardly a surprise when the person crossing the ball in is 28 year old overweight centre back.
Yet let’s blame the proven striker.

If he is so much better than the level as plenty suggest than I'd have hoping for around 2 in 3 as a minimum.
But we hardly create chances for him. If he was missing chances each game I would understand. But he literally gets about half a chance each game.

Hmmmm, he did miss a free header from 5 yards on Saturday, just like he did the week before against Chesterfield...
Don’t remember the Chesterfield chance but the one on the weekend was behind him and the keeper saved it.

I haven't got a narrative, I said, in my opinion of course, that his goal returns and performances have been disappointing relative to the investment made in him.
How can you honestly type that a 1 in 2 striker is a poor goal return ? It just doesn’t make sense. Do you expect him to score every game ?
-
We could just pick Fondop and watch him miss sitters like he did on Saturday to be fair. Let’s go with him instead.

Think we won 3 out of 5 in his absence, 0 in 5 since.
Makes you think.
What about the time we went on a decent winning streak and Norwood was scoring the goals ?
Or we just pick and choosing again periods to fit our narratives ?
Look at his career, he’s continually bagged 1 in 2, he’s doing that here. Couldn’t give a fuck if he scores using the back of his head. It’s his goal.

Chesterfield have previously tried to sign Dallas and will be well aware of Norwood's ability. Doubt they would rely solely on what I agree was an indifferent day for them at BP.
Do you not think they could play L2? That was my point.
Dallas played for them in the playoffs last year.

How many games did he miss?
Well considering he’s averaged 1 in 2 throughout his career, including playing a significant amount in league 1/2, I am more inclined to judge him over that period.
But if you want to focus on a couple of months when he’s been injured and we have been shite then crack on.

He hasn't scored from open play this calendar year, one can only imagine the amount of stick Nuttall would be receiving in the same instance.
Well he’s been injured for a decent chunk of it.

I see plenty of penalties, I don't see a guy who is suddenly going to double his numbers next season.
Who was the last penalty taker we had that was as good as him ? When he steps up, I have no doubt he will score.
Or should we go back to the time DKD, Missilou and Hart all had a try at taking a penalty ?
It is a skill you know and it counts as a goal.
We create nothing for him. That’s clearly the issue.

He hasn't given us the numbers you'd expect for the outlay, he doesn't score goals out of the ordinary, his performances have generally been underwhelming.
He’s scored 1 in 2 since he’s been here. You are talking bollocks.

Shouldn't be hard to offload him then
Why would you want to offload him ? Do you not like a goalscorer ?

go look at his scoring record then pal.

As things stand these will be the contacted players going in to next season, do we have the nucleus of a promotion chasing squad?. I suspect Mellon would be happy if half a dozen of them found themselves a new club but I can't see that happening.
17 players there already which is some wage bill.
Norman, Shelton, Ward, Kurt, Nuttall and Reid will all be gone.
They are under contract, but they won’t want to be out the game for an extended period. They will be off.
-
Yeah let’s get rid of our top scorer, that should do the trick…. Baffling honestly

I don’t think it’s a case of ripping it all up, we have some quality players at the club for this level. The issue is all to do with the balance of the squad and some very key positions being neglected.
Hudson
Raglan
Hobson
Sutton
Kitching
Conlon
Lundy
Green
Norwood
Garner
That’s a solid starting point, but it’s clear we need width pace and more technical quality in the middle.

Something needs to change on the recruitment side of things. The amount of players we have and the lack of balance and quality is a huge concern.
It’s been almost 2 years since Jordan Clarke left the club and we are still playing a centre back in that position, it’s embarrassing. Appreciate we have loaned a kid from Sheffield U but that’s not a solution, it doesn’t take 2 years to do that and he’s only played 5 games.
We have had 9 strikers this season, including Hope, that is ridiculous.
We have Green and Walker as wide players only. Yet our best player for the first 6 months last year has been loaned out in Tollitt.
Played 90% of the season with wing backs, but we don’t have any wing backs at the club.
We have overloaded on centre backs to the point prospects like Sutton and Hobson miss out on the match day squad for relegation specialist McGahey.
Ward, Hope, Shelton are sat around doing nothing.
We have no creative midfield player. We need a player who is a number 10 type but still works hard. Rather than players such as Sheron who instantly limit us in possession. This will be the tuning point when teams sit back at home.
Long story short, whoever does recruitment has messed it up since Frank has come in and should step aside. Bring in a forward thinking DOF to head up the recruitment with the sole purpose of brining some balance and synergy to the team.

I think booing is pointless at the moment as it seems to be every game.
i thought the chant of Mellon sort it out was fair.
17 minutes ago, BradKnowles1 said:I was looking through some previous messages I had with a footballer who has played a considerable amount of games in the championship. We discussed Norwood in August he said he can’t score if nobody is feeding him. Think he’s bang on with that.
We have no wide players, how can Mellon change anything really. The recruitment has been a shambles and whoever heads it up needs to be looked at, whoever that is.
Norwood would score 40 in that Chesterfield team. We create nothing for him ever. He had one header yesterday but the ball was still going behind him. Frustrating.
Norwood is lucky if he gets a pass to feet.

Haha this the full stand just groaned. Norwood and him were having words for a long time after it.
Not surprised, people wonder why Norwood is so angry.
Baffling. He’s honestly so crap and I don’t know how he gets away with it each week. Put him at right back or something.

Don’t forget to take away all goals he’s scored in the box, because anyone could do that. So he’s actually on 0.
