  1. £1m fee + £500k after x appearances + 25% sell on - about time we got a proper - and I mean 'proper' fee for a genuine talent

When i read stories of Will Hughes, 18, at Derby playing about 30 games and as talented as he is, 'Newcastle are ready to pay £10m for his services' - and then I read some of our lot happy with £400-800k, it makes me weep.

£400-800k in relaity gets us nowhere. With £1m (and in talent and potential wise vs the fees that players like Powell, Maynard etc have gone for after 1 season wonders, he is worth it) we can use £800k to help with running costs etc and £100k or so to add 2 or 3 quality players rather than simply see it be swallowed up altogether.

The fact is, though, that all of those players mentioned are considerably better than Baxter. Anything close to £1m is a pipe-dream.

Just kidding, anyone but Alan Lee.

  3. Although I would never want to see it im sure when Dickov signed Iwelumo he said he could play as an emergancy CB. It wont happen as we have options however thank god

We'll have to play the deepest back-line in the history of football if we end up with Iwelumo playing centre half.

  4. I disagree fundamentally with the idea of booing purely on the basis of ineptitude. Let's face it, we all have good days and bad days. Just imagine for a second how you'd feel if you got half as much stick as footballers do everytime you had a bad day at the office?

What really rankles with me is when players show a lack of effort or desire, or a downright shoddy attitude. In that instance, and only in that instance can I understand why people might boo.

I have to say, I still think it's counter-productive though. I find it hard to believe that the likes of KMB or Reuben Reid were ever inspired to work harder for the team as a result of the fans getting on their back.

  5. Or they could say, "Why don't you support us against all the :censored: teams, not just when we do well in the cup"

Bored of Brian Cox saying he's a fan, when quite clearly he's not, and used the cup run as a PR exercise.

YEAH. Grrr, curse that man; generating publicity for the club in the mainstream media by showing support for his local team. How very dare he put OAFC in the public eye like that. It makes my blood boil, really it does.

    I've had enough. Cox out.

  6. The more I read about this boy, the less ridiculous the appointment sounds. He's young, hungry, intelligent, and knows his way around this level. Admittedly, he wouldn't have been my choice given the perilous position we find ourselves in, but there's no reason why (...given time) Lee shouldn't be successful here. Surely we'd be better off putting our energy into getting behind him and the team, rather than starting a witch-hunt against the chairman and/or him?
