  1. It’s amazing how balanced Robbie from Blackpool view is yet we still have a small number of fans who have this “sack him” mentality. Utterly ridiculous given his win ratio and league position. We need stability. Unsworth granted got given time without having a decent record previously to back it up, Mellon does so should be afforded time to create his own side in the summer. The constant sacking of managers doesn’t help and only causes more negatives.

That's just wrong on so many levels.

If 14k tickets are sold and 7k turn up, then 7k in attendance.

Seems to be the ways it’s done up and down the leagues and has been even in the Alan Hardy years at Latics. It’s not just a Latics thing.

Could be complete bollocks- but someone on Twitter reckons Mansfield have bid for Nors. Just to add a little weight to it, Nigel Clough was in the press today to say 3 bids have gone in for strikers.

Could be why we’ve signed Garner. . .

On Mansfields forum site they seemed to think it’s Tom Nicholls. The guy on Twitter who said it was a chesterfield fan, clearly on the wind up.

If that's the case there is a serious man management issue which should have been resolved by now

You say that but that sort of mentality doesn’t change most of the time by bringing someone new in as manager. It’s instilled in the majority of these players hence why Mellon wants a clear out.

Loans have been the majority of Jan business to plug gaps, which suggests the big shift due to players refusing to leave won’t be until the summer.

If we played all season like yesterday but somehow managed to be top I take it you’d be OK with that?

I wouldn’t…I’d be happy for the club I’ve supported all my life but I wouldn’t be at BP every week that’s for sure!

This has to be one of the worst takes I’ve ever seen. Deary me, you would be unhappy if we ended up top but played crap football? Stop talking rubbish. Ridiculous points.

I don't think that there has been drama over the last 24 hours. Just fans giving their  points of view.

You state that what is important, is not attractive football, but winning.  Well yesterday was neither .

As I’ve already stated you are not going to win them all. Look how long it’s taken for Chesterfield to find that winning side.

There are many, myself included, who do question certain aspects of Mellon’s approach to games and his ability to galvanise the team against a certain type of opposition.

    Do I back him? Absolutely.

Do I level ‘jibes’ against him? Absolutely not.

Am I convinced that he is the right man? Not yet.

Not yet the right man but what qualifies that? You couldn’t get more qualified at this level. This appointment needs to be a minimum three year agreement. Even a doubt over whether he’s the right man currently is mad. The drama over the last 24 hrs has been ridiculous.

The Football can be absolutely woeful for me if it brings success. 30 yrs without any success should make fans realise what’s now important. Not ‘attractive football’. But Winning.

  8. Some massive overreactions on here. Yes the game was poor but let’s not lose sight of where we are in the league. We are now the big fish in this league so every game for us is a cup final for the opposition as everyone steps their game up to play us. When you still have a large amount of the squad part of the original weak mentality under Unsworth it’s hardly surprising we haven’t changed. A few players isn’t going to change that.

I’ve seen comment about his style of play from @BP1960 and @deyres42 but let’s be realistic the style of play is irrelevant, win games we get promoted. Kewell played attacking / entertaining football but we ended up 17th. Results are all that matters. Continue on the run of form we’ve been on and we end up right in the play offs.

Mickys been there more than enough times (more than we’ve had over and over for 30 years) to know what’s needed to get us out of this league, so back him! Not every game is going to be a win. Thats the nature of the league and squad he’s inherited. Give him the backing without the jibes and let’s have a run of a few seasons with a successful, proven manager.

I normally just lurk on here and rarely post. But felt compelled to log in just to say that for the love of god I hope we don't sign Gary Madine after all the names that have been mentioned. Bitterly disappointed doesn't even come close.

He’s definitely not going to be the one that makes people stand up but if it was a direct replacement for Fondop I would accept it, but not as our standout signing.

If we’re linked with Dallas and there’s also rumours of Norwood back to Barnsley, perhaps that’s the deal to be done?

If we are serious about promotion there is no chance we are doing a swap. Granted we have a number of strikers but they aren’t good enough (Willoughby, Nuttall, Fondop for starting games). Quantity doesn’t equate to quality so we I think we will be bringing another in. Especially after losing Stones.

Ronnie Moore fave to take the Monkey Hangers job ... Shame we played them twice already .... we have a pre written song :D

Two managers already rejected the job due to the owner according to Radio Tees. Sounds another mess of a club.

You  can't blame Sutton having to play right back when he's a better centre back than the rest and will play in a higher division than Oldham in the future.

PS you forgot Raglan who never won anything and played at a snails  pace and Hogan who was placed in exactly the same dilemma as Sutton by the manager.

You can blame him for his absolutely abysmal defending when mistiming a jump for a header prior to their first. Woeful defending.

It's not Barry. I had this discussion on Twitter a few months ago with some of the PTB lads and others. I believe it's Birkett or Multiple Account Mick Malpas. But I ended up leaning towards Birkett. Because of similar language and grammar in the tweets, along with reaction between accounts.

Don’t recall this conversation but I believe from messages I’ve received from the account and others fans where the account has made reference to comments made directly to me and others previously by Barry that I believe it is him. As I believe DiggleBlue is him on here.

How frequent have Conlon's injuries been? I'm a bit concerned about it. I remember when we signed Gardner thinking 'he'll boss this league if he can stay fit' and he's barely managed to string more than a few games together. Its great to sign quality players but ultimately a bit pointless if they never play. I'm not trying to be negative, I can't wait to see the lad play and hopefully make our midfield look more assured. Just feeling a bit of trepidation.

He played 37 games last season in the league so played the majority of games.

He’s had two different injuries so on the face of it has just been unlucky. If he had the same injury recurring, like Kitching came with but eventually cleared, I’d be concerned.
