  1. Optimising the ins relies on securing the outs. That means late business I suspect
  2. We ‘got our business done early’ last summer. That went well. no interest in getting our business done early for the sake of it. I have no reason to believe it makes one jot of difference at this level
  3. Haven’t had a season ticket for 30 years. Last season, and to some degree the season before, were anomalies in that there was no correlation between quality of product and sales (the frank effect). That effect (on crowds) won’t last another season as I have no doubt season ticket sales will be showing. However, the last couple of seasons have proved that our fan base is there to be had (I previously wasn’t convinced of that). But no business can expect its customers to shell out when the product is poor. The new season is a reset in that regard and we will see a more honest correlation between product quality and number of paying punters. Over to you Royle, Mickey et al
  4. It would appear most on here believe everything is binary. Recruitment is delegated and therefore those at the top of the business do not have any control over recruitment and it’s not their fault if it goes wrong. As an example. That’s obviously not the way any business (including this one) is run
  5. Also known as sanctioning spending on shite I’ve no issue with Darren Royle and the board overall
  6. You seem really interested in my opinion on everything. Am honoured to be asked so many questions, I really am. It’s gives me a warm fuzzy feeling
  7. Yes. When I delegate decisions at work the buck still stops with me. its disapointing that the club has sanctioned do much spending on shite. The board, including DR, have a level of responsibility for that. That’s my opinion on how businesses are run. I don’t believe football clubs are any different in that regard
  8. Sustainable progress on the pitch and a sound financial footing would represent a ceo doing a good job.
  9. I believe he oversees the running of the football club and all its component parts. Forgive me if that’s wrong. as I say, I am not making any judgement on him as CEO.
  10. Absolutely. And am not saying he isn’t a good ceo. But there is little room for sentiment and he should be judged on his performance as ceo in considering whether he is a good ceo not what he did to save the club. Important not to conflate the two issues. the fact that we have blown so much money on shit players concerns me in this regard.
  11. Conlon is supposed to be that. Problem is he plays alongside sheron and McGahey most of the time. Maybe Hammond will step up but he has got a long way to go. Hopefully see a different lundstrum next season.
  12. I’d be pleased to receive your response and invite open debate in any form. Please forgive me if I implied otherwise.
  13. You control nothing. I also control nothing. it’s an observation on a message board and a trend I find to be of interest. It’s not even about Latics. I will post what I like big boy. Ok? Great
  14. It would have been nice yes. i suggest you listen to what he doesn’t say as much as what he does say.
  15. It’s not impossible. Wigan are an exception leicester briefly disrupted the top of the prem but for the vast majority of seasons over the last 20 years have been somewhere close to their natural level. It’s also no coincidence that in the context of greater Manchester we see alty and Stockport making good progress where as over in north Manchester….
  16. All the clubs that have challenged the status quo at the top in the last 15 years are southern. Luton, Bournemouth, Brighton, Brentford. It’s no coincidence
  17. Stability in the playing squad is not an end in itself. Not changing personnel because of a belief that stability will achieve the end sought is the act of a mad man
  18. Massive season coming up. No doubt about it.
  19. I have a lot better things to do than attention seek on an Oldham message board. This is my opinion. I make no apologies for that. Yes it’s a negative perspective but it’s my view and it’s how I read the situation. now go and have a wank over that draw against chesterfield. if you are not ok with my holding a view, then you have a problem. with thanks
  20. Call me negative but I don’t see a way back for the club. the Rothwells don’t have the cash to get us out of this league with any level of certainty. Lots of things will need to come together for it to happen and I expect to be here in 4 years time. May be shorter if the stars align, but that’s a long shot. from there we won’t establish ourselves as anything better than lower half l2 and will probably drop down again. I think this is our level now and anything above that will be fleeting appearance when we are punching above our weight briefly. in short, top half NL is our baseline.
  21. joe nuttall being shite and any one thinking otherwise being a pork pie short of picnic ain’t a prediction
  22. Wow. I mean I want what you are on. If a boo boy is someone who doesn’t want absolutely shite players - like Joe Nuttall - in our team then I am life long member of the boo boys
