Think we'll get hammered on Saturday unless a manager comes in which isn't looking likely. Barnsley sold 1300 as of yesterday too so no doubt another 2500-3000 following coming and leaving happy. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Infact just checked and we're actually 8th but with 3/4 games in hand on most teams above. https://fas.premierleague.com/index.php?page=teamfixtures&id=258 Is that Jacobs a winger or a striker? Thought he was a striker but he came on as a winger against Preston

The youth team must be decent they seem to win every week. Sure I checked the tables in Jan and they were either top of the league or 2nd behind Walsall I think it was. Heard good things about Danny B but he's had quite a bad injury most of this season. Who knows who may turn out to be the next Winchester ;)

If this is true I can't see him being offered anything like that at Latics. Wasn't LJ initially on about 40k then moved to 60k

Nailed on to score against us next weekend lol Unless King Lockwood is on the pitch -
Also I would have thought Gregan until I think it was against Southend he fouled a player who got up and pretty much started on him and he looked like he :censored: his keks!

OAFC Youth Development under LJ
aaronoafc replied to WIZZO83's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
I don't know, Winchester has been around the first team for 2-3 years and always looked like he had something just never got a run of games which granted LJ gave him but I don't think he was developed as such. Tarkowski yes I agree with, was played under Dickov but shined under LJ. JCH again, joined as a rough diamond, left as a rough diamond. Had/has all the attributes in the world but spends most of his game trying to draw fouls when he's a unit. -
Can see Forte and Kelly being here next season. Wilson I think will be off but like others said on his day he is top notch but those days have been coming less and less lately + he doesn't seem like he wants to be here really. Think he was banking on a move in Jan but that's purely speculation. Winchester NEEDS to be signed up and Matt C said there's another one brewing. It has to be him. Can't see him going Barnsley don't think he liked LJ Philly is contracted for another year at least I think which will please most...

Told you he wasn't scouting Barnsley lads. Any who - Paul Scholes anyone?
-
Why would he not go Preston instead?
-
Yeah he's at their game. Someone else tweeted a Barnsley staff member said it's a done deal not sure how much truth is in that part though
-
That's one man I wouldn't want as manager. Couldn't get Sheff u up with tons of money, :censored:e football too. Evans on the other hand...
-
Yeah Couple Barnsley fans on twitter saying he's there tonight...Laters Johno!
-
100k for Poleon, 20k for Murphy, Forte the winger goal machine playing, Turner 20-60k, Philly on about a 12 year deal. Still couldn't score against 2nd bottom. Bobbins

Of course we don't, and that's not what people are saying they just expect more against teams who rarely win especially who have records such as "the worst home record in the football league". Why can we beat sides usually from 5th-18th and put in good performances, or hell even beat Swindon who were 2nd yet time after time lose against the sides who everyone else seems to beat? If it's a one off then fair enough maybe a bad day at the office but it's time and time again.

Same. In the reverse of Colchester a couple of weeks ago it would be "typical latics" to win this one but I can't see it.

Because over & over again the sides we lose against ARE shocking, and sit in a shocking position in a shocking league. We are in a decent position in a :censored:e league so we should be winning, or at least not rolling over and putting up a bit of fight. How many sides this season have we played against and actually thought "these are a decent side", hardly any. - it seems(ed) opposition fan regularly say that about us Plus when in the play offs or just outside, we should be punishing the bottom sides to mount a real challenge but unfortunately we're bottle jobs.

Seen a few say this and I don't understand it, they have some decent players on crazy wages but their 2nd bottom for a reason. We shouldn't be going there and being rolled over 3-0. Their fans expected a tw****** pre-match for a reason. Yes they have pissed around with managers yet they are still 2nd bottom of a very shocking league. For 1/3 of the season we were labelled by most opposition fans as the best team in the league along with Bristol City, then a disastrous December brought us down to earth. A couple of decent results in Jan puts us back in the mix in which we have been in for the majority of the season, so I agree I find the results against the bottom teams unacceptable for a team trying to mount a play off challenge. 2-1 at home to Crewe with 10 men, 1-0 to Colchester at home, 4-0 to Yeovil, and 3-0 away to 2nd bottom orient who have the worst home record in all of the divisions IS unacceptable. We may not have the biggest budget or the most talented of squads but on our day we are fantastic, yet we can't seem to "get up" for these games against struggling sides and simple as it's not good enough.

Murphy isn't a target man, and hoofing the ball to him with a 6ft4 centre half behind him wasn't the answer, yet we continued it all game. Realistically we shouldn't have had such a negative formation against a team like colchester, packing the midfield and having 1 small striker upfront, but that's what LJ chose. I think 4-4-2 with Turner Murphy upfront might work well but again we need to keep it on the deck and not hoof to the small lads, I think Murphy will work better alongside a target man to run off but for now we don't have that till Wilkinson is back.

Scunthorpe 0-1 Latics
aaronoafc replied to sjk2008's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
Was it the same formation as Rochdale? It's about as good away performance as you can get especially when playing one of the more inform sides in the league. Clearly LJ was paying respect to Scunthorpe who have only lost 1 in 15 is it? I imagine he expected more from them I didn't think they looked that good really, not bad but nothing to shout about. Maybe this is the formation we need to start using away, with Dieng and Kelly (sensational again) Scunthorpe hardly had a touch in the middle of the park. Dieng was getting a bit of grief near me but I thought when he stuck to his job he did okay. Forte is a menace on that wing, especially for any balls of the top he is always looking to pinch it and run through as he did yesterday and should have scored. If there's anyone on that pitch you would want in that 1 on 1 it would be him! Wilkinson, worked very hard, didn't win many headers against their CB who I thought bullied him a bit first half. Looks like he will go onto be a very good player but he does make a lot of strange choices and often holds onto the ball for too long. Worked his bollocks off though up top on his own which isn't easy for a big fella. Winchester - Can we please sit down with this lad and triple his wage or something to sign an extension! -
Can see Jabo signing till end of season with possibly an option for next season. Agree about Mellor out.
