  1. i think it was more i'll say to the fans that it was wrong to sing his name and the fans then took it the wrong way. A quote blaming the supporters for losing the points due to singing baxter's name I will apologise but I'm on LJ's side here because I do understand why he doesn't want opposition players being sung about when he's got 11 lads out there who needed support
  2. Completely agree full support and don't turn on the lads, need to stick together as Johnson said. Create a great atmosphere and because of the stand being so small I reckon we can make a fantastic atmosphere COME ON OLDHAM!
  3. I don't think anybody was surprised to see Tarky go to be honest, I thought he would go when baxter went but we kept hold of him and regarding rooney it just wasn't happening. He was clearly frustrated with his form and admitted that he couldn't work out what was going wrong, just wasn't his club so in my opinion it was right for both parties that he went. As for the week to week, it certainly is at the moment but that is to get us to the end of the season and start again, hopefully next season wont be full of scandals such as betting and players feeling unsettled and wanting to return to home. When players sign for a club they either: - Look at money they are offered (won't do here, could get better offers elseswhere, most of them) - The history of the club - The geographic position of the club - Who the manager and the coaching staff are - How long the manager and the coaching staff will be here or planning on being I know this as I used to play at Bury and Blackburn, coach at Bury and coached in America and they are the five things you look at (certainly youngsters) the ones who want to learn anyway and you see certain players work well at certain clubs and just click, Danny Ings at Burnley for one, Tom Pope at Port Vale etc
  4. I know it did but to have a long term vision you need a longer contract than just a year and a half. If you have a five year plan say you need to be given five years to try and execute it, you see after 2/3 years if the plan is working out then you decide on parting ways or standing by it or heaven forbid invest in it to make it happen. It's all about long term, especially lower league football and the way many football clubs are functioning at the moment financial survival and young, enthusiastic lads is what many will be based on
  5. So you leave the contract? How do you expect to sign players when the manager isn't sure whether he'll be there next season. Players sign because of the manager and coaches they are working for not because of the club. A long term plan is what you need! and by giving johnson a long term deal this enabled him to feel like his job is safe and to have a long term plan in mind which I think he has given half the chance. A totally different scale, I know but Ferguson did nothing at United straight away so just give johnson a chance, doesn't work then fine, you find somebody else but for now we have 10 games to decide our season so instead of people questioning whether he should remain at the club why not try to support him and the lads and carry us over the line
  6. Of course he would, he played for them for years and was a hero down there! We were playing good football, we did do up until petrasso went in my opinion, yes the results were sticky but some performances I have seen this season have been the best since sheridan! By offering him a longer contract this would give you the chance of getting a bigger compo package. All very well saying it now that it was a bad idea to give it him, hindsight is a wonderful thing (or not) but for gods sake get behind him for the last 10 games and see if we can survive and build again next year!
  7. Refusing to have an assistant? Wasn't murray supposed to play that role? That was my understanding, cuts costs though and when he started struggling he brought Wright in so that's not arrogant. Publically slagging off players? Guessing this is about remarks made on twitter, frustration maybe? He shouldn't do it but is a manager learning the trade and is bound to make mistakes. Blaming ball boys for results? Not seen this but if he has done it's wrong and as for the baxter song this did spur him on and he ended up scoring a belter. The fans should have been singing about our own 11 instead of the oppositon. Yeah he was a fantastic player and I applauded both his goal (because it was a corker) and applauded him when his name was read out at the start and at the end when he came over to the latics fans but I didn't sing his name because he wasn't wearing a blue shirt! Everybody's fault but his own? Sure this week he admitted he's made some rash signings, admitted that he needs more strength in the team and when we lost against crawley said he chased the game too early and when we played against wolves away admitted he got the tactics all wrong and that he vowed to put it right in the fa cup games which he did
  8. How wasn't it a good idea at the time? Young, enthusiastic manager wanting to ply his trade in football management. We were playing some great football at the time and looked good yet now it's all gone wrong people turn round and slate corney. What would have happened if we had left him, he'd got us to a couple of points outside the playoffs and a team say Bristol City came in and took him away? Corney would have been to blame there too for not offering him a new, longer contract so play the game! Football is about taking risks, going all out to win a game and instead losing it, people will say oh we should have held on to the point, it's all about decisions. We've made one and I think we should stick by Johnson for a while longer and let's see what he can do
  9. As I said it wasn't said in any way to be a dig at people who donate to playershare, I think it is a good idea and believe that using it correctly (like rotherham have) can bring in some cracking signings. For your information it wasn't a discussion and an ongoing joke, merely a comment, hinting at the difference between the two sides, in the main of what we saw on the pitch on tuesday night When I buy thinks and book trains I go through links put on here if that counts but yeah I will donate to playershare and will use the links on here. I do have better things to spend my money on and on a relatively low wage I use my money to attend games rather than give to playershare. I go both home and away and miss the very odd game other than at the start of the season going to work in america coaching.
  10. it really does sound like you want him out, bad decision for giving him a longer contract? Good idea at the time and most said it. Every post you put seems to be a jibe at Johnson or Corney or both so answer me how is he arrogant?
  11. How is he arrogant? He explains his tactics in the press, praises supporters and tries to get the best out of them by discussing things such as atmosphere etc. He answers any questions you have to the best of his ability and claps the fans at every game home and away apart from Crawley and Wolves away from what I can remember, how is all that arrogant? As for 'knowing it all' where has that come from? Don't get this 'Johnson is arrogant' but yeah okay
  12. Yeah cracking idea, so you'd rather have investment and move to Salford? :censored: that off i'll have corney thanks
  13. Where do you get that he's arrogant? Vendetta against Johnson for what reason, a few bad results and a few mistakes? The best make mistakes. I'm not saying he is brilliant but what's the point in chopping and changing?
  14. Again this wasn't a dig and to be honest it's freshened up the debate about playershare and people's involvement. I'll quickly happily donate 1 pound per week and if it is promoted and marketed properly I should imagine a lot of people will join. I saw what johnson was trying to do with joskts too, sadly it didn't work out, however the other signings of kuqi and beckett, should these have been through playershare were good signings. As I said before, we used it as a joke to cheer each other up as it was particularly dire what was being played on the pitch. Lockwood shouldn't be used in the same sentence as tarky anymore but if you like cloggers then you sure will love lockwood.
  15. I am part of the joke and to be honest never really looked as I have things to pay on a fairly low wage, however I will have a look into it. I stated this wasn't a dig, just the difference in quality of the players that's all
  16. I think playershare is a brilliant idea don't get me wrong and I think the fans in playershare deserve a lot of credit This is by no means a dig, just laughed and joked about it at the game last night. With our playershare money we signed - Edjin Joskts With half of RUFC's playershare they signed - Kieran Agard (black lad up front for them last night) Slight difference? Again not a dig and credit to those in playershare
  17. First of all we wouldn't have been able to afford all of them at once so that rules it out. Secondly, oxley - woeful kusunga - injured or suspended most of the time tarky - Wanted to go, offered some money and ultimately took it lanzoni - Wanted to go, was out of contract m'voto - same as lanzoni croft - don't even know what happened with croft wes - still there baxter - was never going to stay matt smith - didn't really rate him, scored two crucial, memorable goals against liverpool and one against everton philly - still there, lost form harkins - still there, is fantastic But still, lovely to dream
  18. He saved us 10 years ago and I would love to see corney bought out but only by somebody who actually has an interest in the football and not just a project with other ideas such as koukash. We signed turner for 20k ;) does that count haha? Other than that we don't spend but how many clubs like us do? Don't overspend is the key to success, yeovil last season didn't pay for a single one of their players and went up, can be done with the right players sadly we don't have enough
  19. Harewood now plays league two and he's just another injury prone striker. He did replace byrne because the ideal back 4 would have been: brown, kusunga, wilson, grounds I presume, can't play that anymore as kusunga is out. Think Lockwood will be cheaper than byrne and will also have been brought in to do some coaching. Not sure about brown but either way he doesn't have anything to do with it
  20. Hence why they are supporters and Lee Johnson is a football manager. Can't please everybody
  21. How is it bull:censored:? If somebody wants to invest in Oldham Athletic then why haven't they bought him out in the last 10 years? He has put in enough to keep Oldham Athletic running year upon year, very little for transfers but even if we spent how many places further up would we be? Pointless spending money we don't have that's when clubs get in trouble, Rushden, Aldershot, Luton spring to mind
  22. And so he has a right to! We as football fans may not like it but he's a business man for god's sake! The only way to get him out is to buy him out, anybody got enough money? Very probably not so we are struggling. If he pulls out and decides enough is enough we won't have a club to watch, end of! At least there is still an Oldham Athletic and if he hadn't have come in then we'd have gone bust so why all turn on him now? Yes corney doesn't spend, but bloody hell, yeovil work with :censored: all as their budget and they're in the championship Live in the real world people, football is a business nothing else so he's going to do anything possible to make a profit
  23. Lanzoni didn't want to stay, tarky did want to play higher standard of football and were offered a substantial fee (not in todays player values but still a 6 figure sum), lockwood was a panic buy and everybody can see it, cheaper option than byrne, wilson is a promising young player imo and reece brown? What's he got anything to do with it? Carlisle aren't exactly pulling up any trees with him at the heart of the defence
  24. Very possibly but we couldn't offer dowie a contract longer than ten ganmes last season because we could have ended up going down, then what would have happened, whoever came in really only got until the end of the season then LJ kept us up so he was offered a longer deal. Offering him a longer contract was done for the right reasons, trying to say that we have a bright young manager who plays attractive football (were earlier in the season) if you want him then let's see your compensation package. Sadly it's hit the rocks and our performances aren't up to scratch, some panic signings in lockwood in particular but we still have a chance to save the season. I'd keep Johnson, not many of you would given the choice but chopping and changing certainly doesn't work, look at fulham this season and the position they're in. Give him a couple of years
  25. Dowie? Why would you want Dowie back? i'm sorry but he was fantastic in charge of us but under a wealthy budget, we don't have that now and he's experienced yeah but blimey how many experienced managers have been to latics and flumped, penney, talbot, wadsworth so going young I think was the right decision and I don't necessarily think it works against you. Bournemouth took a risk with Eddie Howe, look where they are now. Our manager that has been the best in my opinion in the years post Royle was Sheridan, where was his experience? He was the cheap option at the time and he did brilliantly, too close to his players and a large boozer was Shez's downfall but yeah no experience, cheap option so it can work. Johnson came in last season when we were all panicking and kept us in the division, he can do the same this season. We would never have got Sean Dyche and Keith Hill, depends what you like in a manager, certainly worked for him at Rochdale but not at Barnsley. I wouldn't have minded Hill but ultimately i'm fully behind Johnson. Doesn't suddenly all come right over one season, especially a sticky season like we have had, betting scandals, players not settling, transfer sales of our two best players. Hopefully we will stay up and then he can build next season but I think he will get it right (famous last words) but we just have to give him time
