  1. Brilliant haha! What I was merely getting at was it didn't have a negative impact on the players nor the togetherness of the players and fans (easily shown by the way they responded to celebrating with the fans after the second goal) We or well I don't ask for much at all from Latics, in fact I ask for very little! Effort is a must for me, other than 1 maybe 2 halves of football this season we haven't lost or suffered from lack of effort and I ask for an Oldham team to have a go...not to win, not even to score but to make us feel like we have got a chance and make me get off my seat once in a while and this season there has been two games we have deserved to win which we did go on to win (wasn't at Bradford at home or Gills away so can't comment) As for the tactics side of things we are obviously too negative, don't have a clue how to break a team down if they go in front, more so at home than away! This frustrates fans no end and to say that we have not looked like scoring since Swindon away is an understatement 330 minutes (give and take) Oldham went without looking like scoring a goal, let alone actually scoring one and after the first half the 454 supporters had to witness (more so in the stand than on the pitch) we needed something to cheer us all up and get a better feel in the second half and we felt a weak 20 yard effort from Winchester to Tommy Lee's hands warranted a bit of a cheer considering we had had one shot that I had seen (watched very little first half) which was a Mills free kick that went further wide of the goal than where he actually took the free kick from. This got supporters on side and 'let's pretend we scored a goal' got positive and supportive songs such as OWTB and SUPER OLDHAM going after it which most of the stand were joining in with. Also at the end I didn't hear any sarcastic chanting? Maybe due to Oldham actually having a go? Dunn is the one that needs to get real not fans...if we expected to win and expected to be top 6 every season we would be beside ourselves by now! Twice in 19 years yet Dunn thinks we expect success? Really? We expect basically nothing so he's the one who needs to get real and instead of having a go at supporters for 'sarcastic chants' after a good away win, maybe say 'this is the start and I hope the fans will stick with us' Doesn't matter if he thinks it or even hints it, word it differently, in a way fans will accept it. Just a couple of last points: - Dunn thinks there is too much expectation amongst fans...fine but he can't come out and contradict that and get expectations rising when stating 'It took Joe Royle 8 years, I fancy doing it slightly quicker than that' - Dunn asks all the club to pull together including fans...yet states his disappointment to them after a first goal in ages and 4th win in 30 games? All a bit contradictory! This sounds like I don't like Dunn, couldn't be far from the truth. I am a David Dunn supporter but I think saying things, more in the manner he has and the way he's put it than the detail behind it is silly and is disappointing from a fan's point of view who has missed 2 games in 3 seasons Just remember before saying things Dunn, we (the fans) are the club! We pay our money, most of the time extremely supportive We were here before you were Dunn and we'll still be here after you've gone!
  2. It kind of did? Pre 'Sarcastic' chant we were 1-0 down and hadn't had a shot, post 'Sarcastic' chants...Chesterfield 1-2 Oldham....THE IRONY
  3. Say what you like about Croft and Higdon's weight however I will expand and say this: I'm not a big lover of Croft myself but at least on Saturday he was direct and knew what he wanted to do (attack the fullback) when he got the ball and had our only shot on target? Higdon was poor on Saturday, probably seen there the worst you could have Higdon but when he's good and gets the service he is extremely effective! Higdon alongside Poleon still could work! (Losing patience with Poleon mind!) Higdon, because of his physique and height pulls generally 2 centre backs to challenge for the ball leaving plenty of space for the second ball or indeed for Poleon to exploit when Higdon wins the header.
  4. Eagles I know for a fact is on at least 1000 a week plus bonuses and Gerrard isn't playing for free, he's getting back fit but gets bonuses for every half he plays as well as every 10 mins on top of that... To be honest I dread the kind of shape Gerrard would have been in and not much has been up with our defence so far, certainly over last 5 games. Eagles I don't know how much he would have added anyway, put it this way if we had signed him people would have gone...another one of Dunn's pointless signings so he can't win anyway
  5. This will have been agreed between both clubs, even if Oldham wanted it as a tenner, Mansfield could turn round and say they want it be 15 like it was at their place which is probably more likely...
  6. I thought the original prices was 15 and 5 but on the updated one it's 10 and 5 so not sure. Think it's the second one but don't off me
  7. He was fantastic until he got tired which was about 65 minutes in. My man of the match and there were plenty to choose from, deing, kusunga, kelly but Ibehre was sensational! They didn't have a clue what to do with him and he is a great addition to the side!!
  8. That was out of order, I haven't doubted the whole case is absolutely disgusting which it is but I'm saying I, off the information I've seen wouldn't have been able to find him guilty, then again the jury have, he's been convicted so he is until he proves innocence which he may never do.
  9. Definitely guilty of stupidity not convinced in my mind if it is rape
  10. Completely agree, can't question that. As I said I understand why and how he was found guilty and there are lessons to be learned from this case for lads and men who go out on a night out and pick up a girl is three sheets to the wind and still go on to sleep with them. I understand why he was found guilty as it doesn't look very good but I, myself am not convinced off the information I have seen
  11. I don't understand how you can be traumatised by an event you don't remember happening. For another example you couldn't be traumatised with having your head kicked in if you only remember them coming up to you? You can be traumatised by what it then leaves, for example a broken nose, broken jaw etc but that is the consequence of the event not the event itself, should that make any more sense. Like I said I don't doubt his stupidity and don't doubt it was reckless but I, myself am not convinced it was rape off the story I have read from the link given
  12. I fully agree with that summing up. I don't have much sympathy for Evans in the respect of at best he is a 'cheat' and that is at best. He was undoubtedly stupid and I don't really see how he could be convicted again off reading the link put on. I find it hard to see how one was found guilty and one isn't but hey it's done so hopefully others will learn a lesson as well as Evans
  13. That we will never know, I do understand why he was found guilty but i'm not convinced it was rape, just my opinion
  14. I wasn't saying you were suggesting it, I just find it all inconsistent myself. Another question to ask yourself If you were having sex with a girl and then your 'mate' had sex with her after you finished that wasn't consensual would you not come out and say something? or at least not speak to him after the event took place?
  15. But in the case it states that the consent to McDonald was given by getting in a taxi with him? So I find it hard to comprehend, either way I'd prefer him not to sign for Oldham, wouldn't kick up a fuss like thousands of people have should he get a club
  16. We drew against Crewe twice last year 1-1 if I remember rightly? Stand to be corrected Crewe away is generally a good ground for us but definitely Bradford A team we never got anything at was Bristol Rovers away! Nightmare!
  17. But she claimed she didn't tell people she had been raped, her friends told her she might have been? That's what I mean when I said she couldn't have been traumatised by the actual event, however I sympathise that she could have been traumatised with what was to follow i.e. personal abuse. The argument like I said wasn't that she didn't consent, it was she was too drunk to give consent so surely the same applies to McDonald as she was as drunk if not more when she had sex with McDonald. If consent is getting in a taxi with somebody then I'm no fan of that law. If the argument is that she wasn't in a fit state to consent with Evans then surely the same applies for McDonald?
  18. We seem to always get something against Bradford, I too think we may come away from Brammall Lane on Saturday with 3 points
  19. After looking into the case quite extensively my opinion of him being innocent grows. The argument wasn't that she said 'no' it was that she was 'too drunk to say yes' Following getting in a taxi with Clayton McDonald she didn't have anything else to drink from when she got into the taxi to when the 'rape' took place and if she was already drunk then the CCTV footage that has been released you could argue otherwise. She borrowed heals off her friend so she could have been struggling to walk in the first place yet the footage released shows no sign of major stumbling or anything of the kind. If she wasn't able to 'say yes' to Evans due to being too drunk surely McDonald is the same? The girl also claims she is traumatised by the night and I know girls that have been raped that have been left traumatised and I have full sympathy with them and would help them try and get over such a thing, however in the case in question, she doesn't remember the night? How can you be traumatised by what you don't remember? What she may be traumatised over is seeing what actually happened that night in the coming months after which is a totally different thing in the case. Evans leaving through a fire exit doesn't help but that doesn't necessarily admit guilt of rape, may just admit guilt of cheating on his girlfriend which maybe he regretted. The tweets the day after that stated about 'winning big' from the girl causes animosity to Evans supporters (something that I am not) and you can understand why they get slightly annoyed when all these allegations come about and the girl tidies up her social media page from the night in question? Looks quite poor in my opinion. Do I think he is innocent? Of rape maybe, of stupidity definitely Would I personally let him back into football? Yes, he has a right to be getting on with his life, in the public eye or not Would I want Oldham to sign him? Ideally not but wouldn't stop coming if we did Would I feel this way if the girl in question was a member of my family? I don't know, never been in that position but suspect I probably wouldn't Would I believe Evans if he was a member of my family? Probably yes, I'd like to think so Sadly this has caused a major stir, Evans had a way out when he was released from prison in that he admits guilt, apologises as much as he could and vow to try and put things right off the field as well as on. That was the easier way out if football is all that mattered to him. What I would pose to you is would you come out and apologise if you didn't believe you were guilty of a crime you had been convicted for? Would you admit guilt to get back into a job you love? I suspect probably not, I know I wouldn't I'm not for one minute saying Evans is innocent but some people just read and see the conviction for what it is which at the minute is 'guilty' and that's fair enough and I'm not for one minute slating the girl as I think she was stupid just like Evans and McDonald that night, I feel for her as she doesn't deserve the level of abuse she is getting and I would never say any personal abuse to the girl whatsoever but neither would I Evans. Just read into the case and then see what you believe. I find it hard to believe how one is found innocent and one guilty, that shows massive inconsistency in my eyes but that's my opinion I hope I haven't offended anybody with this opinion as all it is, is personal opinion.
  20. Would definitely be Dave Penney!! However, Penney when he needed a result made sure we got one!! 0-0 at Southampton 0-0 at Charlton and also the dog awful game at Stockport, won 1-0, Abbott penalty at the other end and both teams got booed off (no surprise really) Not defending him one bit, poor manager and players, certain ones have been mentioned. I'll take them and raise you: Darren Byfield Rene Steer
  21. I didn't disagree that he wasn't very good but always put in 100%, he came to Oldham with a reputation of being 'good' at our level and it never really worked out for Butcher but he worked hard and surely that's all that could be asked for?
  22. I've got a few contenders for poorest player but some I happened to love due to how poor some of them were. However some names that will always stand out to me (not necessarily for being poor) and I'm only 20! Calvin Zola - Once seen break through one on one against Bristol Rovers, decided he couldn't take it any closer to the goal so headed to the corner flag instead Delroy Facey - Cut in from the left onto his right foot, bloke behind me said 'hit it Del' he did exactly that and it went and hit the corner flag, this bloke taps me on the shoulder and says 'wish I told him not to bother' Shaun Garnett - The ball never stayed in the ground not to mention the pitch, loved him! Jordan Slew - Played in the cup v Sheffield Wednesday then broke his back? Jan Budtz - Goal after goal going in against him at MK Dons Players that got undeserved stick: Warne got a fair bit but worked his tripe off, Eardley was a cracking full back, again not liked by quite a few and Chris Taylor, quite a few didn't like him but always thought he was extremely skilful! One last one for me Richard Butcher, worked his socks off every game, not the best technically but hard not to like him for his enthusiasm. Other players to note: Matty Appleby, Chris Hall, Danny Boshell. There's been quite a few!
  23. I think the niggles have been more complex than that and have actually been injuries, which is turning out to be a regular thing with him which is slightly worrying. We have players that have been largely ineffective being Poleon but I really do think he has a locker full of ability, he needs confidence and hopefully a goal yesterday and one in the first team sooner rather than later may give him a bit of confidence. When I have seen Turner play though he has really impressed me so should we get a striker in on loan (hopefully Wilkinson) I think he would need to be loaned out but I rate him more than Jordan Bove who hasn't yet played 90 minutes for Hyde in the Vanarama North (or whatever it's called)
