  1. I wouldn't say that but he'd be in the top three! My top three would be: Marcus Maddison - Peterborough (number 30) Nathan Byrne - Swindon (number 3) Daniel Johnson - Chesterfield
  2. Agree with this, Philiskirk is fantastic when on the ball and when he isn't he works his socks off!!
  3. I'm not sure, I think should it be Johnson then he might be in place of Winchester, resting him for a couple of games at first, think jones could move over to the right hand side with johnson being left footed. Was very impressed with him at Chesterfield away, top player and would suit our style of play. Like you said though Johnson could play at the front of the diamond as he looked very creative!
  4. Spent a fair bit second time round as he got 8.75 million given to him from Lallana going from Southampton to Liverpool. First time round, when I were at Bury, they started the season on -10 points and had 9 professional players up until the last week of pre season where he managed to bring in a few loans. They came to Bury first game of the season and battered them 3-0. Never looked back since and doing brilliantly at the moment
  5. I wasn't there as I wasn't born then but my dad has the season video. I can honestly say I've never actually seen the goal, I just watch the supporters bounce up and down, truly fantastic!
  6. Barry has made some comments that are right in the factual manner of that we don't get enough support but put it across horrifically!! Now for me to say he should consider his position as a board member I feel that I should pose as a representative and act as an alternative, I'm not willing to do that so no Barry shouldn't consider his position until such time as he gets voted out and then we go from there, until such time that somebody is willing to stand against Barry my vote is that he should carry on doing what he is doing He is not going to drive supporters away as we are down to the hardcore as it is, equally he won't entice people to go 'we'll go ahead and watch latics' but there needs to be an alternative!
  7. So did I. Funny really because everytime he made a cock up me and my mate quoted the inbetweeneers....'Ohhh NEIL!'
  8. Might just be me but I wouldn't bother signing a keeper until such time as Rachubka needs replacing through injury or suspension. It would be a waste of a wage, Coleman or Tyson (if you send coleman out on loan) can step in for the remainder of the game Rachubka has to miss then you go out and bring a loan keeper in until Rachubka is back. That's the way I would do it myself. As for the squad elsewhere, I said to my dad in pre season (he's not keen on pre-season) that I don't think we have a weak link in the squad, one that we can identify as the one who gets slated (we had a few last year) and I stand by that comment nearly 4 months on. If we need to sign players by all means I trust the manager and being in the top 8/10 in January may attract better players, however should we not strengthen I would be happy to see where this current squad would take us!
  9. I'm not fussed about this as I enjoy watching England and go to a few myself, should England have played on the Sunday I may have made the effort to go to wembley however Latics come first but I am glad I have the option of watching both Oldham and England
  10. In the midfield, our mighty midfield there's Carl Winchester (a-winchester, a-winchester, a-winchester) Happy?
  11. Boshell didn't have a nickname other than 'old mother'
  12. Our squad was in transition all through last season right from when we lost Baxter in August. We signed too many loan players and it all got a bit muddled in the middle of the season, saying that I actually thought we tried to play, yes at times we were poor at doing so but we still tried but people will still call that crap anyway because we weren't any good at it. As for our two aimless long balls, if you mean the two that were hit at Jabo, they are called long passes not aimless hoofs. He didn't have to move apart from just steering the ball where it needed to go, sometimes you do have to knock it long and we did that very well so they are not 'aimless hoofs' I too am delighted at the football we play and we haven't lost to anybody on possession. I also think tomorrow will be a very tough game but I say that about every team, there are no easy fixtures but I believe we can win the game
  13. We haven't done for a while, didn't under Dickov as such, occasionally but not to the style or extent of Bradford
  14. I never said that at all, when players are playing with knocks this can lead to a longer term injury, something we need to try and avoid, the team the other night did a very good job against an average Coventry side. We have ability throughout the squad, I would stick to a team that won 4-1 in midweek (unless any injuries have occurred) Bradford I have said on the other thread will pose a threat due to their style of play, it will be a very hard game but I am more than confident whatever team we play, whether wilson comes back in or not that we can get three points
  15. The argument is though how can you drop anybody when we beat Coventry 4-1, tough one but a very good problem to have. I personally wouldn't change a winning side but I would be happy to see Brian Wilson slot back in and either Kusunga or dieng at centre back, we have a good squad!! Not just a good first 11
  16. Darby is a clogger, been sent off twice this season and gets booked every other game, another player who loves to smack it as far as the ball will go and hope, pathetic way of playing just glad we don't play like that
  17. I think he does which makes me think he may be innocent. If all he cared about was football and thought, actually yeah she didn't consent then surely he would just come out, say that he was stupid and he shouldn't have done it, he's learnt his lesson and wants a second chance? He was given that option and told if he showed 'remorse of the crime he committed' he would be allowed to play football again However he is still pleading his innocence. If he is still doing that then it must get you thinking that he believes the sex was consensual. Like I've said before it was an act of stupidity but rape i'm not so sure. Either way I'd welcome him back to football and welcome him to have a second chance but preferably not with Oldham
  18. Yes he had a great game the other night and I'd keep with the same team if i'm being honest, no need to rush injured players back. It was a great cross for Ibehre's goal and yes he could play centre midfield except our midfield are winning many battles this season so not needed as of yet, with us playing like a diamond formation, kelly, jones, winchester, tidser, dayton and philiskirk are more than enough for options but yes I do believe he could do a job in defensive midfield
  19. Are you having a laugh? He's not that bad, he's a good passer of the ball when he settles into the game, the game against Coventry he was excellent, he also provided a clearance off the line and a few vital blocks away at Chesterfield second half
  20. Playing against Bradford is never easy, there are no easy games in League One but I agree Bradford can be one of the toughest with the style of play they produce. They have the long ball to Hanson but I think that has taken a little less effect since Wells has gone to Huddersfield. That said if their striker along with Hanson is on his game we may well struggle to contain it. I think Dieng has been fine at centre back, nothing spectacular but played very well the other night. I personally would keep the same team, no need to rush our injured players back like Elekobi or Wilson, I also think Kusunga can help with the aerial threat of Hanson doubling up on him with Dieng, seeing Kelly slot into centre back on the many occasions that we will see this happen on Saturday. Play our own game when we have the ball and we will be fine, we have pace, precision and have had so far players who are cool in front of goal. Should we be organised defensively like we have been over the past 12 games we have a very good chance of winning the game. That said a point wouldn't be a massive failure and I said coming away from Chesterfield too that 4 points out of 2 home games will be good enough for me, I do think and believe we can win this game but it's football, anything can happen!
  21. Maybe not but Icertainly think it was a very good point away from home. It all helps us ticking the points over, draw your away games and win your home games and you won't be far wrong. Very good point and very good display, however it's only a great point when you capitalise it with a win like we did last night against Coventry
  22. I personally wouldn't sign Ched Evans for Oldham as it would just say to everybody that 'we sign anybody and everybody regardless of what they have done or have been convicted for' That said, had we not have signed Lee Hughes I may have wanted to sign him as he has served his time, rightly or wrongly, that was the sentence he was given so the crime has been committed and time has been served, therefore he should have a right to try and get his career back on track. Following on from that, none of you will know exactly what was said in the courtroom unless you were there or have had any access to any evidence from the case that was used, I must admit I do see why he was convicted, however I am not sure that 'rape' is really the right word to describe what happened that night (my opinion) Other posters on here have worded such things horrifically, however I agree with the conclusion he is trying to come to. The girl can TRY and get over what has happened and has a chance to live a life, sadly in McCormick's case and Lee Hughes' case the victims involved cannot as they have their life taken from them, not condoning what Evans did but surely if you 'rank' crimes for whatever reason both Hughes and McCormick come lower than Evans? It's a tough one as I believe he should be allowed to play football again and one of the supporting reasons for this is that other criminals have been allowed back into a footballing career. Until there is a rule against criminals as a whole playing football then he is no different. You can't pick and choose what criminals you allow back into football, it's the same rule for all of them or none of them in my opinion Would I sign Evans? Probably not Would I support Evans if he signed for us? Yes, he's wearing a blue shirt with an Oldham badge on (doesn't mean I like him) Would I stop going to watch Latics if we signed him? Definitely not Does he have to be a role model for children? No, tell your children he's a footballer, it's his job but he's not a very nice man Do I think he should be allowed to play football again? YES All opinion based, however just one hypothetical question: Should his conviction get overturned is he allowed back in then? and should people apologise for calling him something that he eventually is proved not to be?
  23. The song was sang to try and get them to react. Most knew we weren't in Yorkshire but it's close enough to be classed as Yorkshire and Blackpool fans a while a go got a reaction from them by singing about them being from Yorkshire. Hardly the end of the world regarding what was sang, it was just done as I have said previously to provoke a reaction
  24. He's right, he spat his dummy out when we didn't sell him in January and missed games due to having a sniffle which is beyond pathetic for a player in a team let alone captain. Didn't want to play for Oldham and the only think for me that made me halt for a little while on wanting to get rid was his equaliser at Orient on the Tuesday night. Didn't get all the rave about Smith myself, he was okay but nothing special in my opinion and was glad we got money for him when we did. He's doing well in a good side at Bristol City so hard to tell how good he actually is but I'm liking the pairing of Kelly and Jones at the moment
