  1. Lags could the fans rep of done more this week to gauge the feelings of the fans ? My feeling is he is being taken away from that part of his role and hasnt the time to represent the fans, I know he works endless hours at little expense for the club and I applaud that but he simply cannot represent the view of the fans without asking them.

  2. For me, trustoldham, is like that insurance policy stuck in a drawer, that if anything happend, you have piece of mind that the insurance or trust in this case, has the knowledge to look after your club/your interest.

Couldnt we find the policy when we needed it this week then ?

  3. despite the outcome my opinion on Blatter hasn't changed, he has to go, I will still be there on Saturday to tell him he has to go to his face.........I really wish I had the time to support others in the role and really would put my hand up to do what i could but i fear the lack of a figurehead coming forward.

Surely his position as fans rep is untenable ? I dont know a single fan whose been consulted on this issue despite reports that they have. It shouldn't be up for vote he shoud step aside as he is so far out of touch with those he speaks for it would be almost impossible to continue.

  4. Same here, you are clearly quite eloquent and would provide good support, even if it just to force through a change initially, lets concentrate on getting Barry replaced for now. C Hill are you putting your hand up?

I doubt it his silence on this has been deafening, I've always viewed him as part of the Barry Owen clique it needs a fresh approach for me but that only my view.

  5. I think its good you have started a thread out all for yourself Singe it makes it clear what your motives are, its obvious you have a personal vendetta about the manager and without even knowing the facts of the case you want to set out to assassinate his character, its simply not fair of you to continuously single one man out who has no way of defending himself against the tripe your typing, can I ask what your motives are in all this and will you carry on the same campaign against any other manager who may be asked to work with the player.

  6. Most sensible people wouldn't touch a football club with a barge pole, as for or club even less so now.

I'm afraid we are stuck with Simon Corney, if you really want to see the back of him you may end up with Barry Blatter fulfilling his lifetime ambition and only real aim of running OAFC.

Then watch the fans turn the back on the club.

  7. Very simply Josh, the way that I see it Corney believes that we will become (virtually) self sufficient once the new stand is completed but he has run out of money to complete it and get in tenants. £2M would enable a speedier build and therefore, Corney believes, not a permanent loss making entity. He is willing to sell our soul to achieve the completion of the stand because without it we are snookered forever

This has been my reasoning behind it, SC is up :censored: creek without a paddle and has sold the clubs soul for a quick buck. Not fit to 'run' a football club IMO.

  8. What bothers me about the whole Ched saga is how out of touch the directors of the club are, its fine offering offenders second chances I'm all for that but should it be at the expense of loyal fans who have supported this current regime through thin and thinner, the board as it stands have sold its soul on this one, they knew by going down this route they would lose 10-20% of its loyal fan base overnight and for me that shows a total disregard and respect for their own fans views, we have effectively been trampled on for the short term gain of a few quid, I will go to the games but its never really going to be the same again it may sound melodramatic but it will be strange not seeing some familiar faces, I hope the board are feeling really proud of themselves tonight the position they have put their own employees and fans in is nothing short of disgraceful.

  9. First off, I profoundly disagree with the decision of Latics to enter into negotiations with Ched Evans. Let alone offer the man a contract.

I do, however, acknowledge the right of criminals to reintegrate into society. The law does not bar Evans from playing football and, to be honest, I don't think it should.

This, I suppose is contradictory. It makes me a NIMBY of sorts, but I don't apologise for this. I just don't think it right to put Latics fans through this scenario again. Beyond that, the other thread provides numerous reasons as to why this week's events are unacceptable to, I think, the majority of supporters.

Like others, the last thing I wanted to do was have my commitment to watching Oldham Athletic play football tested in such a way. My initial instinct was to stop going. I can understand those who won't get past this.

Two things have enabled me to move on a little.

One is my son. He's seventeen. He understands the issues and he objects strongly to what is happening. But going to Latics with his Dad is a central part of his life. He loves the club. He wants to keep going in spite of it all and he wants his Dad to be part of it.

The other is the argument, put forward by many, that the entity that is Oldham Athletic AFC is bigger than any individual. Corney, Owen, Evans, Johnson and others are blots on a 120 year timeline that is more important than any of them ever could be.

So I will be there on Saturday, regardless of how uncomfortable it makes me feel.

A few words about some of the characters enabling this horrible situation to unfold:

Lee Johnson gave a contract to Anton Rodgers. While son of Brendan was not guilty in trial his actions were pretty low. it seems fairly clear to me that our manager is not averse to Evans signing. He's come out of it well in the media. But I don't believe for a second that he didn't want this signing to happen.

Simon Corney, I'd love to believe is doing this because he believes in the rehabilitation of offenders. He may be doing it for football reasons. Most likely he sees a profit further down the line. I fear the cost is already far greater than any future gain.

Barry Owen. I've met Barry a few times. I have no reason to dislike him personally. But he has form and by taking collective responsibility with the rest of the directors has singularly failed to take on board the views of the majority of Oldham Athletic supporters.

I call on the Trust Directors to act immediately to ensure that Barry is removed from his position. In addition they need to ensure that any replacement does not become part and parcel of the fixtures and fittings at the club but, instead, attends board meetings as a representative of the wider supporter base rather than as an unpaid employee of the football club.

I would ask all those thinking of ceasing their match day support to reconsider. The club is bigger than the idiots who have allowed this situation to unfold.

I challenged my friend earlier about how difficult it would be to explain the terms rape or rapist to a young child. He actually found the words quite easy to come by. Sometime communicating uncomfortable things to your kids can be remarkably rewarding. If you want to, you can find the words.

I will be making a small "protest" of my own. I cannot, hand on heart, maintain my donation to PlayerShare. Much as I believe in the concept the feeling that it's going to free funds up to pay Evans is too strong at the moment. I may reconsider this later, but for now that's gone. I will ensure PlayerShare WebShop remains open for those who wish to use it. But for now at least I won't be promoting it.

I will reconsider how I feel when season tickets go on sale. In truth, that could still go either way. For now I'll be there. But I feel wounded by the actions of those who run the club.

Finally, I ask fans to try and be respectful of the views and choices of others. This is a challenge for me too, as I find some of the almost gloating excitement of some around this signing offensive. While I would like those planning to boycott to reconsider, if they choose to maintain their current path this should be accepted.

The same respect should also be afforded to Corney, Owen and others. Challenge their actions if you disagree with them, but do so appropriately.

I feel bruised and I feel conflicted in many ways. I don't deserve to be made to feel this way and I object strongly to those who have made it happen.

But I will still be there on Saturday.

Best constructed post I've ever read on here it captures the thoughts and feelings of most of our fans and for me puts many things into context, well done.

  10. Verlin:

    ****

He added: "We would like to take this opportunity to make clear that we feel that Mr Evans should be able to lead a life without further punishment after serving his sentence, although our feelings remain the same that this should not be within the public domain where his previous behaviour may influence the next generation.

    ****

Completely contradictory - we feel he should no longer be punished but shouldn't be allowed to play football.....so another punishment them?

They've not come across too well in all this in fairness

What do you expect from a City fan, who the :censored: are they anyway.
