  1. why is that being a drama queen - it's fact - I said a while ago I was leaving this site because I can't stand social media - too many cowards hiding behind usernames - you couldn't debate an issue if you tried - because you're thick as :censored: - me gone now - no more posts - too many utter brainless arseholes on here.
  2. Mr Corney, You will now fully appreciate what fickle people football fans are. In my opinion (and I am sure many agree) you single handedly steered the Latics through some very stormy waters to ensure they kept afloat and, what's more, recently brought to us a brand and style of football we haven't seen in a long time via LJ and the team. You've made some mistakes (hey - you're human!) and have had some poor counsel, at times, from other board members. However, you have always come across as honest and sincere and for that you deserve great credit. The Ched Evans scenario was always destined to be an unmitigated disaster - simply because we live in a very strange era where mass hysteria is the norm, via people with the IQ of a snail, thanks to that lowest form of communication - social media. The 'drama queens' on here and elsewhere threatening to rip up season tickets etc - let them - they surely cannot be true Latics fans to make such threats? None of us know the true facts around Evans and that is probably the main lesson learned - it has been a communications and PR nightmare - very badly handled form that point of view - whoever let you down in that respect must go. I understand threats may have been made to you and/or your family (according to the media) and that is truly awful. Rest assured, if you have indeed resigned, there are many Latics fans who DO APPRECIATE what you have done for the club - and thank you eternally for that.
  3. What an awful episode all round. Right from the off on here I said I could not believe all the 'drama queens' on here and elsewhere over the Ched Evans scenario - totally blown out of proportion with people saying they would rip season tickets up etc - quite pathetic in my view. Hope you are all pleased with yourselves as, in my opinion, the ONLY reason Latics are still in existence is down to Simon Corney. Forget all the hangers-on - he single handedly steered the ship through some very choppy waters. I now GENUINELY FEAR for the whole future of the club. Absolutely awful start to the new year and forget all talk of play-offs etc - we may well now go down - recovering from all this may be nigh on impossible.
  4. Vastly overrated. Very one dimensional i.e. can run into space beyond full backs - once they suss that out he's useless - which they have - if we can get money for him snatch their hands off - do people not actually watch games - obvious he's no striker and did well until teams in this division got to know how to play him
  5. No I wouldn't boycott Latics - neither would I ever boo anyone on the pitch or sing negative songs during a game. I would however, express my vocal disgust at any gathering outside the ground AFTER a game (so it doesn't affect the players prior to playing). I have no massive thoughts on Ched Evans - but cannot believe the atrocious way the club has handled this - we are a laughing stock and the directors should be ashamed of themselves - incompetence beyond incompetence!!
  6. Hands on - utter nonsense - and my point was about the poster before
  7. Good point - if correct, makes Owen even more culpable
  8. All a bit of a mess really isn't it - I will be there but am certainly going to be venting my spleen a little bit - not during the game because I`ll support the players and LJ - but after outside the ground certainly. I wasn't that fussed over the whole Evans thing but just think the way it has been handled is utterly appalling and smacks of gross incompetence.
  9. We don't know the facts - and probably never will - all I will say is that Corney has always had my admiration for keeping the club going. Owen has only ever struck me as being in it for his owns ends. He loves the limelight and 'status' - always has and always will - in it for himself NOT the club, in my opinion.
  10. Whatever transpires - and Im sick of reading and hearing about it now tbh - this whole saga has been A COMPLETE AND UTTER SHAMBLES. It smacks of incompetence of the highest order and WHOEVER IS RESPONSIBLE SHOULD RESIGN IMMEDIATELY - WHOEVER IT IS.
  11. Ah - apologies - didn't realise that - please close it down in that case
  12. Sly - if it's true that this signing is by Corney and Owen as per press reports and that LJ wants no part of it - I would chamge my vote to NO - always trust and back LJ football-wise but not directors interfering with football matters - what on earth does Barry Owen know about football?
  13. IF there is any truth, as per some other threads and a press report, that LJ has been overruled by Simon Corney and Barry Owen regarding signing Evans, should we not make a concerted effort to get Owen removed? LJ should always have the 'last say' regarding player recruitment. I can just about accept Simon Corney exerting considerable influence but Barry Owen?? Why on Earth should he have any say whatsoever?!
  14. If this article is true, it's an absolute disgrace - ONLY the manager should decide which players are signed - full stop. Barry Owen is making me physically sick - and Corney has lost a lot of respect IF this is true.
  15. Agree with this sentiment - Mr Owen certainly does not have my support any more - he is supposed to be the fans' representative on the Board - and yet blatantly ignores the fans' opinion on this matter (notwithstanding my own opinion - there is a huge majority against the Evans saga - and I respect that i.e. if I was in Owen's shoes I would properly represent the fans' view despite my own contrary beliefs - that's the whole idea of a fans' rep
  16. "I don't want to spend my life trying to justify the signing of Evans" Appreciate your blog but, the above quote from it, for me, illustrates how "way over the top" everyone has become over this subject. I honestly do not think you will spend very much of your life justifying it because a) it will be yesterday's news very quickly erm, it wasn't your decision to sign him - so just say so to anyone who asks you! We have become a nation of 'drama queens' - probably as a result of all the hyperbole banded about on television and in the press and social media regarding all manner of pretty insignificant subjects in the greater scheme of things - like this one. It's not a particularly big deal and will simply go away the next time some prima donna bites a chunk out of somebodies shoulder or some Chairman makes some slightly perceived racist comment. Sign of the times - suggest we all calm down, have some mature reflection and realise it does not affect the starving millions.
  17. Yes - let's ask all those signing the petition to come and vent their spleens at the next home game - capacity crowd !
  18. If our home attendances drop any more, it will be the end of Latics as we simply could not survive with any less through the gates. So, if people are being genuine on here in saying they will not attend matches if we sign him (rather than just being drama queens) then we should not sign him - it's a simple economic decision. I'm hoping this is all media hype but, if Corney, Owen et al have called this one wrong then they may subsequently be responsible for the death of our club.
  19. Dead simple this - I`m going in the Fleetwood end.
  20. Although I have my own opinion on this and really cannot believe all the hype around it, I DO respect the opinion of the majority. It's quite clear that a lot have very strong views here and are threatening to boycott Latics etc. I cannot understand such a stance but IF TRUE then clearly the last thing Latics want is even worse support than we have at present - so, don't sign him. It might be, of course, that this is a wild goose chase and was never going to happen - but takes 'the heat' off certain people within the club after an atrocious set of results in December - let's not forget played 4, lost 4, conceded 14, scored 1 - jeez.
  21. really cannot understand the hullabaloo - media hype - people are starving around the world for Christ's sake. As for being a family club - take it you don't go to many away matches and sit near the scores of foul-mouthed yobs that follow our club?
  22. Exactly ! Suddenly they all come out of the woodwork - got no problem with anyone expressing a view - providing they get down to watch the team more than once evry blue moon - if you don't - shut up because it's got nothing to do with you!
  23. Never read so much twaddle in my life as a lot on here. Morals and role models - don't make me laugh - footballers ceased to be that long ago - vast majority are foul mouthed, greedy, self-seeking so and so's - so couldn't give a damn if Evans signs or not - it'll all die down within a week or so when the media and social networking etc have some other 'non-event' to hype up.
  24. I have heard that he has been instrumental in this - just as he was with Lee Hughes - I don't know Mr Owen personally but know one or two that worked with him in the past - and let's just say they say less than complimentary things about him. Has never, in my opinion, been a true representative of the fans - seems more out for his own ends?
