BF Sorry, I don't want to take you the wrong way on this, but I think that mistakes 1, Will happen at this level 2, Are going to happen with young players and players new to the team I don't agree with your opinion re: fullbacks. I like to see young, attacking and physically capable players in our back 4. I don't think that Charlton and Ajofree brought that much to our team. I am also not convinced with Giddings, but will agree that he was a reasonbably reliable defender. ...and Oi, FB....Bertrand and Eardley may not be the "finnished" articles yet, was a typo -> Mr Perfect!!!

I thought it was quite funny how Alan Hardy refused to answer the question on whether they thought he had served enough time for the crime. It is not for us to comment about the law of the land - perhaps you should be asking someone else that question.

BF, we lost on Saturday because we didn't take our chances. Yes, the defending for their goal and when they hit the post needs to be improved, but remember that we are a third tier team and mistakes will happen. I would love to see us play Champions League quality football, but lets face facts - we are not at that level. Bertrand and Eardley may not be the finnished articles yet, but if we are to progress we need young talented players coming through - preferably where we can get a fee when they move on to enable us to buy in the quality that you mention. But they will make mistakes. All players at our level will make mistakes like Smalley missing the sitter on Saturday and Giddings firing out of the ground in stoppage time at Carlisle. Bertrand has only played 90 minutes and I hope and believe that the positional organisation of the whole defence will improve as he plays. I don't think it is right to write him off as a "lightweight" before he has even kicked a ball. I certainly hope (and presume that you do too) that he goes on to prove you wrong while playing for us.

I agree with all the previous comments. He was a quality player with style and panache. His debut goal away against Blackburn in front of the Latics fans (myself included) was one of the best goals I have seen. I met Stan once - we were moving house from Firgrove (small village between Milnrow and Rochdale) and were looking at houses on the Silver Hill estate half way up Kiln Lane in Milnrow. Well imagine my surprise and delight when my Dad took us all to see a potential house on Yeomans Close only to have the door opened by Stan!! He showed us round his house and was very accommodating to me, my Dad and brothers. We actually went on to buy a different house very close by, but actually being shown around your favorite player's house - by the man himself - was a great and unexpected experience.

For me, I would like to play each round against CCL2 sides. The further we get in the competition the better IMO. I am then not really bothered wo we play at Wemberleeee, Wemberleeee.

The drum does my head in. I sat near him at Cheltenham and Carlisle. However, it is a free world and we should tolerate other people's actions. If it annoyed me too much, I would move seats if possible. I also don't like the Sheffield Wednesday England band. I think that they stop new songs and chants from developing.
