  1. That is what I like about OWTB posters........everyone's a fruit and nut case !! Perhaps Reuben will have a nasty accident and get a steering wheel stuck down his trousers. When interviewed by Stu Vose and asked how he feels about it, he will obvioulsy say "it is driving me nuts".
  2. I too was a bit puzzled with Lomax going out on loan to the Pub team down the road, but then to see that we have signed this geezer makes it all clear. There were a number of posts last night about Lomax being inexperienced and not ready for the first team. We then sign someone more experienced on an initial months contract. I think that the above question answers itself. Clearly, Shez doesn't believe that Lomax is ready to give us what our defence needs at the moment - experience. I did like the Hazell Nuts reference though Bob In Shez we trust !!!
  3. .......and my mate Stella of course !!
  4. I also bumped into him and had a chat at the John Milne - Ghost of Ces - were you there the same time? I will always remember Stuart Hall commenting "Richard Jobson, surely too classy for England" after a match at Stoke away. He then ended his summary with something like...."and as the shadows lengthen here at the Victoria Ground, so do our hopes and expectations...". Quality comments, but Jobbo was PURE CLASS.
  5. We used to live near the Crown and Shuttle in Firgrove when it was run by David Shaw. My Dad got me a signed Latics ball for Christmas via DS. I was delighted on Christmas Day. Me and my brother played with it for ages in the front room and we never got told off for playing footie in the house, not even once (well it WAS Christmas afterall). I was equally distraught on Boxing Day however when I noticed that all of the ball point pen autographs had been rubbed off by the polyester carpet. Gutted. Les Chapman, Alan Young.......I need a beer.
  6. No, I think it is sad. dependant on how old you are of course!!
  7. I think that this was probably not our drummer. I think it was maybe recorded in America. I think this because the crowd keep shouting "Wow, Yeah", "Alright" and "Get in the Hole"
  8. This might be a bit difficult for people to remember. What about....... Hughes-ee....Hughes-ee....Hughes-ee or Hughes-ee, there's only one Hughes-ee (repeat until bored).
  9. But Jermaine Johnson doesn't play for us anymore!!
  10. The best place for it would be at the bottom of the Rocky Road End large section - in between the front row of seats and the pitch. Anyone going to Oldham Away? My seat ticket says "Obscured View"...
  11. Floral Dance by Wogan was great.....especially when we sung it at Huddersfield fans at the old Leeds Road ground on Boxing Day years ago. All to do with them having intercourse with cats!!! Don'tknow where it came from, but that song reminds me about that match !!
  12. for me this tune will always evoke nightime at Boundary Park, there is a drizzle falling from the sky, the game has just finished and I'm shuffling past the floodlight pylon at the corner of the Chaddy End. Ah, memories! I agree that Rockford Files reminds me specifically of night matches. I have Boys in Blue and Mouldy Old Dough on my phone and Fanfare For Ther Common Man on my i-pod..... I reckon Mouldy Old Dough should be the last record played before the players run out onto the pitch, the players should run out to Fanfare for the Common Man, Rockford Files should be the last record played before 2nd half and Boys in Blue should be first record after the game had finnished. JOB DONE !!
  13. Agreed 3-0. I still think that a lot of issues remain at centre half and in goal too (as well as midfield and up front)!!
  14. Bigfin I think I owe you a pint!!
  15. "Are you Bigfin in disguise? Are you Big-fin in-disguise????"
  16. However, Shez said that he would like to sort something out with Dowie about taking Gidds back again when he is fit.....
  17. This topic is sick. It's like asking how you would be preferred to be tortured !!
  18. It would never work - it makes too much sense!!
  19. Exactly - or any goals conceded would be Gregan/Thompson/Crossleys fault and any goals scored would undoubtedly be due to the additional space created in the middle due to our marauding full-backs
  20. It is funny that he thinks that people who go bankrupt (like one Mr Gaunt) are allowed to earn money again. How does he think his irresponsible actions affected the children of the honest businessmen he owed money to? Two faced hypocrite.
  21. It is the name of the Polish Union that was led by Lech Wałęsa isn't it?
  22. You are on !! Winner gets a pint. Who is the ref?
  23. This article is also interesting..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...tic/6967063.stm The BBC call him Remorseful, but Albert Frisbee says he has no remorse at all. You have to feel sorry for Mr Frisbee - I imagine it must be a very difficult time for him, but any of the press who want to have a go at Hughes will get plenty of bullets from Mr Frisbee.
  24. I agree. Credit where credit is due. Mr Hardy is not the top of my list of bezzy mates, but I think that he got the balance right. There was a brief report on TalkSport after the conference and the report seemed OK - Hughes has spoken to the affected family, wants to put the past behind him, said that no matter how many times he says he is sorry, it is not going to undo what happened etc So, I think that Hughes and the club have let the media have a bit of a pop (in a reasonably controlled manner) and it is hoped that they will now move on to something else and let him get on with trying to rebuild his life.
