  1. This is old, but guess where there is a will there is a way; http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-29705681 I understand groundstaff defending themselves. It is not their fault that there is a repeated issue of historic poor communication by (past) club management, amongst clearly many other issues. Fans raised money for scoreboard. Maybe would’ve raised some money for some lights if it was explained as an issue. Their is a an understandable lack of trust on the fans part leading to sceptism over for example (but not limited to) a game being called off.
  2. Look further back on his Instagram and he also has a 1-series BMW. I would imagine his championship contract probably extends to more than one car if he wants one. I can’t remember the full reg other than ML13 (I think) and whilst I appreciate scepticism in respect of Oldham, why would I go to the trouble of mentioning his car, track suit and colour of his boots! Guess we’ll find out later today.
  3. I have seldom posted on this forum but read frequently. I didn’t take a picture or recording (!) as was driving but from my part exactly what I have said is exactly what happened. From my part buzzing - he has his faults but is a quality footballer who I enjoy watching. Imo has the talent to play at higher level hence agree if permenant this is a real coup.
  4. Yes. White BMW 1 Series 13 plate. Carrying a pair of red boots and wearing a grey tracksuit if evidence required. Am I permitted to put what I asked him and what he told me ?
  5. Arriving for training this morning at around 10:30am, boots in hand.
  6. First half at MK be looked dangerous when on the ball but he definitely tired early. Last night felt he did very little. Work ethic and defensive quality are evidently not what he is all about. He does not want to put his foot in. Given Bury had control of the midfield I thought Omrani was the correct change and helped take back control of the game. He is obviously a talented player but don’t think he is quite yet up to speed and I too would not expect him to start on Saturday.
  7. Agreed - Connor was amongst the last to leave - his attitude as well as his undoubted talent appears first class. On which note, Peter Clarke is an absolute legend. Nicer guy you couldn't wish to meet and fantastic with the kids. Hopefully he keeps playing for a little while yet, but if in the future wants to go into coaching the club should do everything it can to make it possible.
  8. Attendances seem to be fairly consistent since 2010 based on a quick Google search which would seem to support this. The community trust has helped generate 5 new season ticket holders in my house. There must be more people like me disillusioned with Premier League football. It's like going back to a different time going to Latics and I love it for that. The Club could do more imho to get people in (communication would be a start) but to be fair recent media improvements - This Week at Latics, Ask, Little Latics aren't going to do any harm - I think Sam is exceptionally good.
  9. I can't disagree with most of that. I moved to Oldham 6-years ago and have only been following the club closely in the last 12-months, so can't comment what has gone on before. Looking through a fresh pair of eyes there are certainly some.... strange things that seem to go on. Against this background this is therefore a genuine question. Is it worse and if so why?
  10. As fans we might not like what it is but there must be some sort of strategy. Even if it is milk the club via OEC, LED Media, Brassbank, et al. He is not an Oldham fan - he is a businessman who bought the club presumably to make money. If he wanted to quit he could - again see Leyton Orient. What's stopping him?
  11. Do we know categorically if a new loan has been taken? The registration of a new charge in isolation does not prove it has - one explanation could be this was the refinance of existing borrowings. I acknowledge this is very much glass half full mentality however. No all shareholders would not have to accept the charge. The Directors are appointed by shareholders to manage the company. The charge was signed by which Mark Moisley in his role as a Director.
  12. Common or not, I agree unpaid bills is a worry and potentially a sign of stress with any business. The loan confuses me a bit in so much as there was a charge registered last year. Discharged and then immediately replaced with another charge of the same type. My job is lending money to businesses - typically we'd take one charge which would cover any future advances. I don't understand why there has been the requirement for the registration of a new charge. Like us all Corney isn't perfect but it could be worse..... Leyton Orient anyone?
  13. WUP aside, is the club in any different / worse position than 12-months ago? On the pitch would seem similar - other than to say this time some of the spine of the team - Clarke, Gerrard, Fane, Holloway are on longer term contracts - last summer of only 4/5 players registered that are not really wanted won't be happening. There has been investment - LED boards - which although may be via another company what would be the point if there was to be no club at least in the short term? Offer price ending on season ticket sales is early - but given last years discount is not being repeated there should be a little more money about? Clearly allowing the WUP being served is bad management and it is not the first example. But is it terminal and the club is going to be placed into liquidation on 8th May? Can't see it personally - OEC, LED, Sheridan, Clarke and Holloway contracts - what's the point if it's all going to end in a couple of weeks time? Simon Corney is quite clearly a clever man - he must have a plan, would just be nice to have some communication as to what this looks like? The relationship on both sides - board / supporters is strained it can be repaired?
  14. Not saying I think things are ok. Far from it. But if bills can't be paid just after the bulk of money for season tickets sales are in then there is no hope?!
  15. March 2014 machine breaks - they lease another for 3-years which then finishes in April 2017?
  16. The bailiffs being in as recently as this makes no sense; If if there was a piece of kit we wanted to keep - in the context of season ticket sales / offer just having concluded - surely the money would've been available to settle any debt and keep the machine? As Dave Shaw said is this not just lease finished machine handed back?
  17. Under normal circumstances don't think this is bad at all. Bottom line is you are entitled to an opinion and it is an emotive subject. People care deeply for the club which is where it also stems from and it's hard to criticise anyone for that.
  18. I'm a new to any forum and Latics really I can see both points of view. There is negativity on here at times and at also at games - Chris Taylor for one gets a lot of stick at times which is completely unjustified. Noaenever doesnt post here anymore and either does BP1960 both came across to me as intelligent people who know a bit about football - but they've been put off. Having said all of this I can understand entirely why there is the negativity - WUP, transfer embargo and that's just recently. I work in finance with businesses similar size to Latics and have for almost 20-years - yes these things happen but they are not normal. Likewise, the fiasco around the North stand delays and the lack of communication from the club - I've bought tickets online for every game since January - in that time I've had guess how many emails from the Club promoting their services.... There is a lack of trust of Corney which to me seems entirely justified given issues over a number of years. My perception is that as a business it is not well run. Against this there is a lot of good the phrase I think davidshaw used is come and sample some old fashioned football- effectively what I did. For me, it has reminded me why I fell in love with football - which wasn't Carlos Juggling Balls from Brazil being paid £300K per week. Since January my kids have been mascots, bench buddies, done coaching at school, been to the trust holiday club. They are invested, they love Connor Ripley, Peter Clarke and Anthony Gerrard for their commitment that is evident on the pitch. Warts and all we've all really enjoyed it resulting in my family (5 of us) having signed up to season tickets next year. The Club clearly need more people like me - basically new fans and even I find it frustrating at the seemingly lack of effort to achieve this. My son is 9, we live with 2-miles of the ground. There is 1 other kid in his class who could tell you the name of even one Oldham player. But is there cause to be optimistic? Overall for me yes, we've the core of a really good side next season led by Sheridan Clarke, Holloway, Gerrard, Fane, hopefully McLaughlin, Green, Tope. We beat 3rd in the league on Saturday - nothing special about them at all - so it won't take much more to push on. Yes im optimistic, but then I haven't had years of being let down of many levels, plus seeing best players (and managers) disappear the minute a small amount of money is waved about!
  19. Given his record over his career doesn't point to him becoming a goal scorer. He strikes the ball well though and against Oxford could have had a hat trick with a bit more good luck. He needs someone to create a chance for him - so much of our play is through Holloway with him feeding other people. I love watching him play, he fights for everything and whilst don't think he will ever be a prolific 20+ a season, with the right player alongside him don't see why he won't get goals.
  20. Yes they would protected in liquidation. No point in these boards without a football club though.
  21. Didn't think "the conditions" made any difference. Oldham wanted it, Fleetwood didn't. Even in the first half the tempo of their play was slow - led by the goal keeper.
