  1. Hull is a City and was granted a Royal Charter in the 13th Century. Although I'm Oldham born and Oldham through and through, my family are from Hull so I learned a lot of its history, but you'll be delighted to know that I won't bore you with it.
  2. To the tune of Yellow Submarine Let's all laugh at Barnes and McAteer Screwing up Tranmere Barnes & McAteer Let's all laugh at Barnes & McAteer They're not ones to fear Barnes & McAteer Best I could do at short notice. Feel free to edit.
  3. Maybe I was watching a different game, but I thought Parker was ok. He played out and out wide right and ran his socks off, taking on the full back and tackling back when needed. He chased lost causes (we could have scored from one if we'd had someone in the middle when he got to the bye line before their keeper to get the cross in) and didn't look a lazy sod to me. I'll stand to be corrected but, if he builds on that performance, he'll be a good signing. On another note, anyone else think that Rubes had a good, steady game?
  4. Only seen it on good old Auntie Beeb and still can't decide if it was a foul or not; sort of 60/40 in favour. But, as the last defender, the red should have been automatic if the ref sees it as a foul. Did Mr D'Urso bottle it because it was in the Lion's Den? Even listening to the racket from the Millwall "fans" on LW (sorry, LP now), I just have a feeling that it would have been close to a riot if he'd shown it. Had it been an away game, I think the red would have come out.
  5. Cash-me-a-cheque, I think it's pronounced
  6. I'd willingly throw so called supporters who consistently slag off their own players into a carp pond.
  7. Some good points in there, but get ready for the onslaught from the Main Stand eejits when they read that last bit.
  8. If other threads are a yardstick, then .... .... OK, that's Hazell's place sorted .... .... Now then, who do we get to replace Greegs?
  9. Byfield over O'Grady for me. He's done it at this level, so a short term contract to see if he can prove himself. If he doesn't, cheerio. O'Grady has never looked like being the real deal and Alice isn't the answer.
  10. The article also states: "There are a few reasons why he's put himself too far down the pecking order but I don't want to go into that" Sounds like he's given Gary Johnson a problem or three with behaviour? That's the last thing we need - some £1M Charlie who over-rates himself and just buggers about. Sound familiar?
  11. I simply picked out a handful of better known names. Stranger things have happened - it was something of a coup when we signed Stitch, Bobby Johnstone, Albert Quixall, Graeme Sharp etc. There's hundreds of others available, the likes of Chris Howarth, David Knight, Marlon Broomes, Miquel Roque. Good debate though, HB
  12. It's pretty obvious from various threads that the general consensus of opinion is that we need another keeper and at least one more CB. Not having seen any pre-season, I'll go with the majority and take it as read. According to the PFA website, these are available. So, provided we could afford the wages and they were willing to come to BP, who would you have? These are my opinions, for what they're worth. Dorus De Vries (Swansea) - One of the best when in L1 imo Nicky Weaver (Charlton) - may just fancy a return to the North West Andy Marshall (Coventry) - Lots of experience. May be on trial at QPR, but not sure. Sol Campbell (Portsmouth) A bit old, but would do a job in L1 Jonathan Fortune (Charlton) - Good enough for Championship imo. Released because of relegation? Danny Mills (Citeh) - mainly a RB, but is capable of playing at CB Sam Sodje (Reading) - Good L1 player Noe Paramot (No club) - has played a fait few games at CB Ivan Campo (No club) - started out as a CB and converted to CM Gets ready to dodge the
  13. Cheers mate. I'll give it a go.
  14. Been trying to watch the Migglesbro at Muckpool highlights, but all I get is constant stop, start every couple of seconds. Is it me? Is it Firefox? Help, please.
  15. Well worth imo. I can only get to so many games, so the commentaries make a big difference, even if they can be a bit odd now and again. With the interviews and highlights, I reckon it's a good package for less than 70p a week. Go for it.
  16. Peter McDonnell was a great keeper imo. He was unlucky to be understudy to Ray Clemence at Liverpool, otherwise he would have been a Div 1 keeper, no doubt. Wasn't his nickname Barabbas? I think he was a bit odd in that he took goal kicks right footed, but cleared from his hands left footed. Nigel Batch at Grimsby did the same. Oh well, they reckon you've got to be a bit daft to be a 'keeper. Hang on, I was one in my playing days.
  17. Hallworth had it all; commanding his area, shot stopping and a bloody good sweeper when the back pass rule came in, if I remember correctly. I've always blamed Littlejohn for Pogs losing his confidence. At his best, defenders always knew where they were with Big Les - letting him deal with cross after cross.
  18. Well done, Ackey. The site's in very good hands - or it had better be. Are we going to have an 'Ackey' smiley? Or has it already been done?
  19. I don't mind admitting I cried reading Lidds' story. I just don't know how I would have coped if I'd lost either of my children. I still don't and their both married with families of their own now. My heartfelt condolences go out to Andy and his wife. Raise an absolute fortune, Lidds. You're a star.
  20. I'd have a FIT Byfield. And that's the keyword. He was nowhere near fit last time around and Penney would no doubt get the best of him. Anyone got thoughts on Abbot & Byfield up front with Parker wide right? He likes to drift out there, has pace and can cross a ball.
  21. New Boundary Park - 'cos it's new and and on a boundary, near enough with 1) The Broadway Stand 2) The Ernie Cooksey Stand 3) The Lancaster Stand 4) The Any Soddin' Thing You Like Stand (to give the sponsors / builders etc a look in) with a bloody great statue of Big Joe, Stitch, The Dodger, Eyresy, George Hardwick and any other bugger you can get on the plinth who deserve to be there outside the main entrance All we have to do then is GO AND SUPPORT THE TEAM, 'COS WE'LL STILL HAVE ONE TO SUPPORT AT A GROUND WITH BETTER FACILITIES THAN BP. I've not done a survey, and I ain't going to, but I wonder how many of the anti-move brigade are those who slag off the current ground? Just a thought.
